again refused

morning ell my friends well a while bk i was told on here we can have a copy of the pm print out after a pm cheack up well last time i asked we managed to get one ,hubby went for another cheack last week again we asked and was refused as she said its not there policy to give out report copys yet last time thay did
witch is it she just couldnt be botherd she asked why we wanted one ,
any way now im woundering if sumat is up as we had a call from our gp on friday night for my husband he wants to bring my husbands cardoigy appiontment foward from nevember to sooner to see the cardioligest at the hospital gp said he new hubby had had a pm cheack and that it showed he was having pulpitations im woundering if when he has these could that be whats causing the slight out of breath now and again with some cheast pain im so worried now may be this why she never gave us a report at pm cheak up hubby has pm and a merchanical heart valve has had them just over 12 months thanks for letting me ramble on my pm friends

Here in the states we have a legal right to our medical records. You might check on it over there.

I have never had aproblem getting a copy of the report after the checkup. When I send in mine over care-link monitor every 3 months, I just remind them each time and I get it in the mail a few days after

Don't worry about rambling I think most of do that, especially when we asking questions about the heart and pacemakers.

I don't know where you live so I can't address your rights to a copy of your records. I can tell you that in Texas I always get a copy of my printouts with no problem. Only one time did the person hesitate and he did say 'I'm not sure as I don't know what the policy is on that." then printed me out a copy. Turns out I was the first person who had ever asked for a copy.

Later I was having a conversation with my primary care doctor, with whom we are good friends, and I asked if there should be nay problem getting a copy of my printouts. I was told in no uncertain terms that "those records are your property and you are entitled to have them anytime you want them." She went on to say the doctor or hospital can change a reasonable fee for producing those records if they wish, just we charge fir filling out insurance forms." I have never had to pay a fee.

I'll add here that I doubt that there is very little information other than the status of the pacemaker is obtained at a check up. If you will look a the copy of the copy of the report you have you all you see is a bunch of numbers. I've been getting my copies of my checkup printout for about 4 years and about the only thing I can decipher from them is whether any changes in the settings were made and the estimated remaining life of the battery.

I'm not trying to defend the person that did the checkup but her question of why he wanted one is probably normal for her, I would say she figures "I can't tell anything from theses numbers so why do you think you can?" As for the call from the doctor, he may see something on the mini (4 lead - that is what they use on me) EKG report that prompted his call.

I know this is easier said than done, but may I suggest that you not read anything disastrous into his call. I think if it had been a really serious situation he would have instructed your hubby to go to the ER.

I've never had a problem getting a copy immediately. ... Actually, the PM tech and the doctor once told me they have often wondered why most patients don't ask for one.
I am in Michigan, but I don't know if that has any bearing on this.

Your GP should receive a copy....would he/she be willing to give you a copy?

I asked for copies also for my first 2 yrs and the answer was a flat out "NO", then I got smart and found out like Smitty said, that those medical files are legally ours. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and it is up to the doctor if he wants to charge you or not and so far they haven't charged me as my reports are only 3 pages.

Again, if you can't get the report from your pacer tech, then ask your family doctor.

Thinking back though, I remember always saying: "Am I allowed to have a copy of that report?" But now I say: "Please photocopy that report for me, thanks."

Well I ask for a print out and I get one and I live in the UK. Which hospital are you getting your check up at? Remind the technician that you are entitled to access to you records. I always take in a box of chocolates for the technician so maybe thats why my requests are not denied. I ask for a print out , ask to see the gas gauge on the computer, ask about the lead impedances etc. I dont think a "your OK cheerio" is what you or myself and some others want.

hi iwish to thank you all for your advice on this we live in uk when he had his first pm cheak it was at stoke hospital and they were fantastic there ready to answer any questions and give out copys but then he was refured to a nearer one were we live in shropshire ,its there that we have problems getting copys people ask why we require one as long as its working well i think just that little bit of papper also helps reasure some people and some people like me like to c whats going on with our bodys any one else feel the same just to see it written down does help
