Terrified At 19!!!!

I am 20 years old now. I was 19 when I got my pacemaker. It all started with an earache. My mom and I went to my MD. My MD noticed that I had a low heart rate (40 BPM). In which I never paid any mind to before. So I go to work that night and working in telemetry I put myself on the monitor. That morning I was put in the hospital with a 3rd degree Heart Block. My cardiologist did not know what to do. So they sent me home until I passed out behind the wheel of my car receiving only 4 stitches. The next step was to get an EP Study and to see what was actually wrong with my heart. Turned out to be that my SA Node was not functioning properly and so we decided to put in the pacemaker. Ever since it was put in I feel great.

What I am wondering is how old was the youngest person to ever receive a pacemaker????

Hi! My daughter was diagnosed in utero at 26 weeks with CHB. Her rate was around 51. She was delivered at 36 weeks and her pacer was implanted just hours after birth. She has an epicardial pacer(abdominal) and is now 2.5 yrs. old and doing great. I'm in a group with some ladies that had babies at around 34 weeks and paced immediately also. The youngest with a transvenous pacer I know of was implanted at around 6 mos. or so.
