Under 10:30

On 1/9, I wrote about getting back to running after my PM implant and breaking through 11 minutes per mile on the treadmill. Well, today at lunch I broke the 10:30/mile mark over four miles with a time of 41:28 (10:22/mile). It has been about 10 weeks post-implant.

It took me most of last year (before implant) to get below 10:00/mile, so I don't think I am going to get through that barrier anytime soon. I bumped my speed up just a little too fast last Friday and felt myself sag about 2 miles in. I backed off a little bit today and made my customary four miles in a better time. So, I am pretty happy with my current 10:22/mile for now.

My pacemaker is set for 50 min and 160 max, but I have an interrogation scheduled for February 17th. I know that I ran my heart rate up to either 163 or 168 bpm on the stress test prior to implant. It hasn't felt like I have maxed out on any of my treadmill runs, but I might be coming close. I will have to ask the technician when I go in.

I'm trying my best to shave my 5k time. Lately, I haven't been able to run much, much less even get on the treadmill, but on my good days- I give it my best shot.
My low rate is 60, my high rate 150.
Suprisingly, I'm able to run without my heart rate going much over my high rate. It's amazing to me.

Keep it up,
You can do it!

It's good to see runners here!

I'm not a runner but I walk at 15 min mile pace. At 66 my knees are worn out a bit from years of sports and trekking. I think your pace is very good. Who cares about ultimate speeds. Its the regular exercise that really counts. Good for you!

You know you're wired when...

You invested in the Energizer battery company.

Sometimes a device must be tuned a few times before it is right. My cardiologist said it is like fine tuning a car.
