please advise

Hi all

I’ve had my PM since 12-05-2010 and things have been pretty good until November of this year. At times I would have some trouble but an adjustment to my meds would take care of things. For the last few months I’ve been having low heart rate then the PM would give me a jump (which wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be). I would sometimes go in and out of this for hours. I was taken from work in an ambulance the Monday before Thanksgiving. I was winded, lightheaded, tired, sweaty, and my heart rate was all over the place and I was just sitting at my desk. I was not permitted back to work until we got things fixed.

About three weeks later I had my 2nd ablation. I was feeling pretty good afterwards so I was able to go back to work on Dec 15th, working half days until Christmas (plant shut down Christmas to New Years). My 2nd day back at work I was having all of the symptoms again. I called my Cardiologist and was sent home again. It’s now 1-14-11 and am still home waiting to see my Dr. again.  My 1st appointment on Wednesday was canceled due to heavy snow here in CT. I later found out I was still in A-fib prior to returning to work but no one even told me about it. I also found out that the stress that I was getting at work was triggering my A-fib. My PM reading told the story. Prior to this I was on vacation for two weeks - zero events.

First day back to work more than 6 hrs and every day there after while working. I don’t like my job and the stress but am only a couple of years away from retirement. Now I seem to be in A-fib most all of the time.  If I do hardly anything at all I get really winded, fatigued and break out in a sweat. I have no stamina at all. I’m getting discouraged and don’t know what to do or if I’ll ever get my health back. My last ablation was done on my right chamber; my left side has not been done yet. I assume they will want to go back in and do that side now.

Does anyone know what choices I have if the next ablation doesn’t work? Or if I might be able to apply for disability with an A-fib issue if I can’t work? I just don’t know what to do. I forgot to mention I have a gene to create blood clots and I’m allergic to coumadin. So I have to get this fixed. Sorry I was so long winded.

Correction: I’ve had my PM since 12-05-2008 not 2010.

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
