Heating Pads

Hi,

I have just joined the PaceMaker Club and would like to know if anyone knows whether or not you can use a heating pad if you have a pacemaker. I have been told, not by my doctor, which I keep forgetting to ask, but by friends. By the way, they do not have the device. This is why I am turning to you guys for any answers or advice you might offer.

Yes, you can use a heating pad. I've even used one right over my pm when I had some swelling a few weeks after my last battery replacement. There are very few home appliances or electronics that will cause a problem. New pm's are shielded.

I lived with a heating pad around my left shoulder and chest for two plus years. I had to replace my heating pad three times for burning them out. Keeping my shoulder warm helped reduce pain and swelling. it also helped keep me warm since aggravation of Reynauds disorder is a side effect of one of my medications.

Some people use ice or cold paks on their surgery site too.brrrrr

I HAVE A PACEMAKER AND DEFIBRILLATOR I AM ASKING IF I CAN USE A HEATING PAD WITH VIBRATION WITHIN THE PAD. THANK YOU
