anxiety

Hi I am new to the club, I had a pacemaker installed 3 wks ago. After the first day I had a terruble pulsating in my abdomen. After 5 days they found that a lead had come loose. They have shut off power to that lead but it has not been fixed. I have now been experiencing the worst anxiety I have ever had, at times I even felt like I was hallucinating. I thought it may be from the medicine from surgery. I have a condition called Mitochondrial myopathy and things do not metabolize well. Anyone else experience this kind of anxiety? Thanks Carmen

I had my pacemaker implanted 3 weeks ago as well. I can not even get the Drs office to call me back - and I am not a nag. Push them - they do not reach out to us. Just my opinion.

I cant understand why they did not fix the lead by removing it and inserting a new one. Get them to finish the job ASAP.

Get the lead fixed soon

The sooner you get the lead replaced the easier it will be. The longer the bad one stays in there the harder and more risky it is to remove it. After a few weeks it starts scaring into the wall of the vein.

Don't be afraid to get pushy with them. If necessary put it in writing that you will hold them responsible for unnecessary delay. Keep in mind that it is to their advantage to delay. I they can wait long enough it qualifies as a new problem and they can bill the insurance again.

Sorry you you are having such a time with it.

Fact Sheet ?

I do not have any kind of a fact sheet - can anyone share this? I just found out by chance that Medtronic comes to the Drs office 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month to check out pacemakers. Communication seems to be lacking. I feel as if I am responsible for my own care and I certainly know nothing! Is this common?

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
