life after a PM

Yes she can have babies....I had three healthy children with no complications with my PM.....you mention she is on warfrin....I must assume that is for atrial fibrillation.....if you are considering marriage..you must know that she will have times in her life when the pacemaker PM will need changes....she may have continued episodes of lightheadedness, rapid heart rates, she may require ablations...the list can go on...what it is you are considering marrying her not her PM....that is just a part of who she is...it has kept her going so she could date and love you.....

I ski, play softball, run swim, fish, roller blade....my PM has not stopped me.....I hope it doesn't stop you from marrying the one you love.....

Warfarin and Pregnancy

I am currently on Warfarin and it advises in my Warfarin handbook that you should avoid pregnancy. Warfarin is a blood thinner so it could be dangerous for your girlfriend if she miscarried or gave birth due to the bleeding risk. If you are planning on have babies, I would sugges talk to your doctor first for advise.

I agree with maryanne, marry your girl because you love her - having a pacemaker shouldn't change anything!

warfrin

Yes of course Warfrin is a blood thinner.....if you are planning on starting a family she would consult her GP and possibly OBGYN.....warfarin can be stopped in consultation with the doctor...for example many people have to stop taking warfrin, asprin and any blood thinning agents prior to surgeries....the same would apply here...but again in consultation with your doctor....

SHOULD WORK OUT FOR YOU

I think it will be no problem. You will need to discuss the medication with the doctors before pregnancy. I doubt if they will allow her to take warfarin during pregnancy. There are alternatives. Good luck. Wishing you both a happy and long life together. Peter

The pm alone won't keep her from having a baby. I had two since I got mine, no complications and I wasn't considered high risk. She'll need to talk to her doctor about the medications and the underlying reason why she needs the pm, that will determine what is safe for her.
