Texting

Is texting while pacing really hazardous??????

Someone just told me that it was dangerous to text cinse I have a pacemaker. I text all the time, and I do sometimes feel kind of dizzy headed.

No one has told me this before. I called my doctor but they won't return my calls.

Help,

Texting

Trinity, I think as long as you keep the cellphone a safe distance from your pacer (12 inches or so), you should be fine. :)

Texting can be hazardous while driving, or while bathing, or swimming, or while riding your motorcycle or horse. It can also see it to be a problem while jumping rope, or rollerblading, nor would I text while on the pogostick. All of these activities proceed with caution while texting, but should have nothing to interfere with your pacer. Look both ways before you cross and always keep your eyes on the road. If only our pacers could be a second pair of eyes....oh, now there's a thought.

Dangerous

Good post Angelie.

It is dangerous to text or talk on the phone while driving.

I was walking across the sidewalk and I had to jump backwards to avoid getting hit by a guy talking on the cell phone I could feel my heart beating rapidly for the next few hours and was surprised the defibrillator didn't go off. That was bad for my heart and PM

There were several times I had to swerve or slam on the brakes to avoid getting hit by someone talking or texting on a cell phone.

Keep it several inches from the PM and don't drive, walk or do others things at the same time.

Disconnected

All the instructions are slightly different for me since my PM is in my lower left abdomen. I make sure to carry my cell in my right pocket. I also try to talk holding the phone on t he right side. Very often, if I forget and use t he left ear while talking on either a cordless phone or my cell, the line gets disconnected or goes dead. My friends & family are getting used to being hung up on...lol
I have never had a problem texting.

I will put out there for comments as to whether anyone has gone through a car wash since receiving their PM. I was in the car with my hubby and he decided to go through the car wash. Well...@#$%^&*(....that is one mistake I will NOT make again. I am not sure if it is because I am paced 100% or if others have experienced the same thing. All activities seem to be a trial & error. But happy to still be here with this gadget. Live and learn:)

Check with your pm company. Usually they reccommend 6 inches for using phones but honestly I've never noticed anything and I send a lot of texts. However the other thing could be how pm dependent you are.
