New to Website

Hi everyone....my name is Mike and I am 50 yrs old. I am new to the pacemaker world, but have had electrical heart problems for about 14 yrs. now. I have chronic AFib and in November of 08....while at the hospital for something else....my heartrate kept jumping between 130s and mid teens...so I got a pacemaker. I am looking for a forum where I can talk to others with similar problems and situations. Its hard to talk to others who have no idea what you are going through.

Welcome to a great club. You will find lots of help for any question you may ask. I am 81 and have had a-fib for about 14 years and can always find someone here who understands and comes up with great answers. aldeer

Hi Mike,

Welcome to the club. I'm sure you'll will find everyone here supportive and caring. Ask all the questions you like, it doesn't matter what as we have all been through what you are experiencing now and we all love to help if we can. I have AF and VF and am the proud owner of an ICD which has come to be my best friend over the years.

Take care,

Lesley

Suggestion

One suggestion that may help in the future. At your next checkup ask for a copy of the the pre and post programming printout. This will give information on how your heart and the pacer are getting along with each other, and what settings have been changed. This can be helpful in tracking down problems. Several of us here can help you understand the meaning of the report.

I hope all is going well with the new pacer.

You found a great site to ask and answer questions you might have. Everyone in here is so great, I have a little different problem than most in hear but i have a pm/defib for my heart condition. Everyone in here for the most part has helped me out greatly, come in here almost everyday. The only thing that is hard and wish it where different hard to catch anyone in the chat room. Dont be afraid to ask any question or if you feel like rantying go ahead everyone of has a bad day and have more right than alot to vent and get it out of our system.
Again welcome and enjoy the site and the members
