ICD site tender

Well going on 2 months since my ICD implant and I'm still getting used to this. Does the heaviness ever go away? They used glue to sew my skin up,but the scar is very long. I'm wondering the average size of an ICD insion. My scar is about 5 inches straight across my chest. It sticks out like a sore thumb, and is just as sore. I'm doing good moving my arm around. I work in business so I'm glad that I can still support my family, without haveing to take much time off from work.
I know that it's going to take time to get used to this heavy hard thing. What do you guys do to get used to it? When does the pain subside. How will I know if it's about to treat me. Will it give me any warning. I never had symptoms before so I don't know what to expect.

Thanks alot
Michael

It can take a few more months for all the aches and pains to go away and to get used to the heavy feeling.

Vitamin E and/or lanolin ointment might help with the scarring, help it fade faster. Mine is usually white and blends in pretty well by 6-8 months.

Thank you

I don't know if you did that on purpose but your comment on size gave rise to a pretty good chuckle.
Its good to know other guys with an ICD.
Thanks again,
Mike

"It sticks out like a sore thumb" - Oh, that doesn't go away unfortunately.

"What do you guys do to get used to it?" - I try my best to ignore and avoid it.

"When does the pain subside?" - I've had mine for 16 months, still hurts off and on.

My scar isn't as wide as yours, but the scar itself doesn't bother me, the large cell phone lump does.

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
