Same symptoms came back...

I had a pm put in 4 months ago for syncope, waking up early am hrs w/ extreme nausea, dizziness and passed a couple of times. They found my heart was pausing up to 25 seconds that they recorded.
No more episodes until early this am...woke up very nauseus, lightheaded, felt confused, seemed very much the same as other episodes. Mabye my pm isn't working?
I'm going to try to get in tomorrow to get it checked (they only do so on fridays0
I have had some pvc's lately..can they cause Nausea???

Thank you~

if your symptoms are back, you need to be seen.

I agree!

Hi rozybud,

I agree you should definately see your dr asap.

I actually experienced something very similar. I was really nauseous, extremely tired and dizzy - and passed out several times too. And discovered my heart was stopping. So I got my PM in Nov last yr (for sick sinus syndrome).

I felt fine until mid-March, when i too seemed to have a 'relaspe'. I got the same symptoms again, and like you, wondered if my PM was working properly.

I took myself straight to the ER and got checked out. They did increase the lower rate that my PM 'kicks in' at. But my cardiologist said that while my PM keeps my heart rate from slowing too much or stopping, it does not stop me from having a sudden drop in blood pressure.

He also said something about the sudden drop in blood pressure possibly being caused by a blood vessel increasing in size.....but I didn't really understand that bit!

He pretty much told me that there was nothing they could do to stop it and that i should start getting used to recognising the symptoms, so i can avoid hurting myself in the event of another faint. That my PM is working fine and not to worry about it!

I don't know if i should be getting a second opinion...or if this has been of any help all to you. (sometimes i think just knowing you're not the only person going through it helps!)

Anyway I hope you get some answers about what's going on for you and that your device is working properly - there's nothing worse than not having confidence in your 'little life-saver'!

Best of Luck!
Melissa

p.s. let us know how you get on.....

Thank you Melissa

I too had my pm checked out, everything looks fine.

I see my cardio tomorrow morning and will explain that when I start to fall asleep, I awake feeling lightheaded, dizzy...nauseaus. My sister (nurse) also said it's the sudden drop in blood pressure...if I didn't have the pm, it would have been the espisodes I had before the pm when my heart would pause.

Thank you for your help, I hope it doesn't happen too often, it's kinda scarry!

I too have extreme tiredness dizziness confusion and sometimes chest pain. I have been to the er many times and have seen my cardiologist about this ongoing problem. My cardiologist just says its sometimes normal to have these symptoms when bp falls.
