sometthing coming off the back of my PM

Hoping for some guidance here. I have a Medtronics Adapta pacemaker that was installed in August, '08. It is installed under my skin on tyop of my muscle.
Last Saturday I completed a marathon and afterwards noticed a strange feeling when feeling around my PM. It feels like a thin piece of plastic coming off the back of the pacemaker. I can feel the leads are atteched to this piece.
Does anyone have any ideas what this can be and how much of a problem this could be.
I would appreciarte any help that I can ge.
thanks,
Dan

Let us know what you find out.

Can you tell from your HR monitor that you are pacing normally? As others said - you need to get it checked out. Please let everyone know what you found out and how it could have happend? Way to go on the marathon! Based on what I've heard about pacemakers so far, running hard should not do damage to your pacemaker so if it did, the pacemaker must have had a defect. The only warning I've heard about is to the leads during the first few weeks. I was told I could start running again after 3 weeks.

Your leads are attached to a block of hard insulating plastic which is outside the pacemakers titanium enclosure, but this piece of plastic should be firmly attached to your pacemaker. This needs immediate medical attention/investigation as the plastic block holds both the leads in place and also keeps the connections to the internal circuits motionless and safe and stops the fracture on the internal connections. It is almost unheard of for this very tough plastic block to come awayI do hope this is not the case. You must go to hospital and have this looked at today.

Sounds unusual

Whatever you've got, it sounds unusual and I agree that you should get it checked out. I've got the same kind of pacer, and have not noticed anything like what you describe. Good luck!

Better check it out.

I'm not sure what it would be unless they used one of the plastic envelope type enclosures I've been hearing about.

I would contact the the doc and have it checked, especially being active.
