Scar pain

Hi all, hope everyone's OK. It's been nearly a month since I had my PM fitted, and everything seems to be going well. I had a bit of a fright yesterday and my heart skipped a lot, but that could have been as a result of the adrenaline flowing through my veins!

The one thing that's really got on my nerves has been the pain around my scars. They were really itchy but on Loopy Lou's advice I've been rubbing Vitamin E cream on them, but now there's a sort of shooting pain through them every so often. Does anyone have any advice as to why this is or what I can do about it?

Thanks in advance,
Emma xxx

The sharp shooting pain is a normal part of healing. You might try heat or ice, sometimes one or the other helps.

incision pain

I would wait and see if the pain improves as the sight continues to heal. It could take several months.....if it doesn't get better or if the incisions seems to be thickening a great deal, I would ask my dr. about getting injections into the scar.....these kenalog injections really help and can be given by a dematologist.....

However, incisions do go thru a normal healing time with nerves often giving shooting pains or aches, so

I would give it a little time.

pain..

Pain or discomfort at the implant site isn't unusual, even during the entire life of the implant. My EP has told me mine will probably hurt from time to time for as long as I have one.

Now, if it's serious pain (like pain reliever serious), then I'd be worried. It does itch/sting a little more, but mine still hurts every couple of days even 1.5 years.

Pain.....

I feel your pain. I am on my 5th PM and have had a lot of issues with my current one. I have seen the doctor a few times they tell me it's called Neuralgia pain.....it's the nerve endings trying to heal and are being sensitive....there is medications that help with this kind of pain...but the best thing is to let it heal itself....I am told it does pass...and sometimes it doesn't....my last PM the pain never went away...it just became a part of my life...intermittent shooting pain....like fire...or sharp needle being poked in me and sending shooting pains.....

I am not good with taking meds...I have opted to let nature take it's course...but that is me....if it continues to be bothersome...speak with your doctor and maybe they can suggest something.

good luck with this....cheers....Mary Anne

My PM scar has not bothered me yet but I sometimes get sharp pains in C-section sites. The Ob has always told me it is just the scar tissue....My kids are 7 and 3 so unfortunately you may experience some scar discomfort forever.
