Whew.... what a trip!

I've often wondered if my Pacermaker would be able to keep up with me when my spirit of adventure took over and I began to live again.

On June 1st and 2nd I was hospitalized because I had become very confused and dizzy. After 2 days of endless test for everything one can imagine It was determined that I was having a huge problem with medications. I was released and slowing the symptoms went away.

I flew to Washington D.C. on Wed. June 10. I was able to take myself into the heart of D.C. and tour the many museums and walk all over all by myself. Managed the metro system, took the bus and a shuttle! No problems at all. I then took a jet to San Juan Puerto Rico! I was able to manage my luggage with out any problems with my heart. The next day I went on a "rain forest" tour where I scaled a mountain on foot, rappelled down a 90 foot waterfall, went on 3 different zip lines and climbed so many trails, rocks and a stream I can't even begin to describe. The next day I went sailing and snorkeling in the Atlantic! This included diving, the water slide and a couple of awesome pina coladas! There were nights of dancing in the streets and countless fabulous meals as well.

I really am trying to explain that even though I am a 55 woman with a dual pacemaker I had a blast. The pacemaker never let me down.... Not Once!

On the way home through Atlanta I literally had to run through the airport to get to my gate... I missed the flight, but the good news is I was able to run and not pass out! he he (while lugging my bags as well!)

I am home now, ready to get back to work. It has been a great vacation with my pacemaker here with me.

Blessings to each of you,
Pacergirl

Double Wow

by Pookie - 2009-06-17 02:06:35

Good for you. ^5.

I too just got back from a trip to see my twin sister who lives in Minnesota. (I live in Canada)

I was SO sick with stomach issues, but also just as determined to get on that plane if I had to crawl on board. The night prior to leaving I was convinced I wouldn't be able to go, but after some new medication, I felt okay, so off I went. However, with my luck, I ended up being just as sick there as I was at home, but it was good to get away and see my twin. Also, I had my 77 yr old father with me, so I did most of the luggage hauling.

I've done about 5 trips since having my pacemaker, once even to Mexico, and have never had a problem with the pacer, thank goodness. And getting through the airports has never been a problem...I love being able to go through security quicker than everyone else!!!! Gee, the last "pat down" was almost as good as a massage. LOL.

It's just great to have the feeling of being independent and being able to accomplish something you've set as a goal.

Glad to hear that you had a wonderful vacation.

Pookie

Hi Pacergirl, your vacation was awesome! I hope to feel that good to travel again. I'm still working on some anxiety issues but getting better each day. As Pookie says, it's a wonderful goal to achieve that independence. A goal that I'm striving to achieve every day. Wonderful and inspiring posting. Blanca
