Sailing anyone?????

Hi, I have a question. However before I begin let me say that I have a new laptop and the keys are causing me some problems getting used to them... So if something seems not quite right it's probably because of that.

Now, for my question: I haven't been sailing since my pacemaker implant in February of 2005.
We have a 16ft. Catalina day sailer and I was always the one working the sails. I was always up front, moving about carrying out the commands. After the PM implant I just wasn't strong enough that first spring to try it and now after 3 seasons of not participating at all in sailing I want to get back into it. We have a racing sailboat and it can get up and move. It is critical that I am able to carry out the commands when they are given and I am worried that I won't be able to and end up capsizing the boat! I have been working on my upper body strength but I don't know. Maybe there is another sailer online with a PM that might be able to advise me? I have been working so hard to make a physical come back starting with the trip up the mountain in the Puerto Rician rainforest was one recent conquest. Now onto the sailing again.
Your comments are most welcome.
Thanking you in advance,
Pacergirl

Ask for a light-wind day

Pacergirl:

I sailed as a Sea Scout, and my wife and I sailed the base's recreational Bayliner when I was in the Coast Guard. Sailing is great fun!

I don't sail anymore, but there's no reason you can't. As someone who's been on the beach for a while, you probably should ask your skipper to take you out on a mild day to work with you on refreshing your skills and testing your strength and agility. I bet your only limitations are related to the long absence.

Fair winds and following seas!

Just wanted to say thank you for your inspiring and encouraging response.

I will talk to my skipper and see if we can start out on a smaller lake and a calm day. Wonderful suggestions!

Thank you,
Pacergirl
