Traveling to Disney

Hello everyone,
We are going to Disney World this summer and it will be my first time having to go through airport security and all that jazz. Is there anything I should know to help make the process smoother? I was told I just show them my card that has the information about my pacer on it.

Security

Here's what I do:

When I get to the security area, I tell the first security officer I see that I have an ICD and need a hand search. They will usually take me to the front of the line, and let me through a gate to a holding area. They ask if I want to go to a private room, or if I am ok doing it there. I elect to do it there, since it goes faster. I stand with my arms out, they explain the procedure, and it's over really quickly. Not a big deal at all. And not once have they ever asked to see my card, even though I always have it ready.

My husband loves traveling with me, since he gets to go to the front of the line with me. Depending on the airport and the time we are traveling, it can save quite a bit of time!

Enjoy your time at Disney!

Airports

I've had mine now for 4 years, flown many times and never had a problem, I flew out of Sofia, Bulgaria and they were the only place that really looked at it in any great detail. Once I had been given my free massage and rubbed down, he looked again at the PM ID, then checked my details against my bank cards / passport etc.

Worst bit is the rides at Disney that warn against pacemakers :(

You'll sure have a great time.

I've never even needed my card, I just tell them I have a pm and they walk me through. Don't let them wand you either, they are the same danger as the ones you walk through. Quick and easy! I go first and I'm usually done at the same time as my family.

As for Disney, have a great time!!!!! There are some rides that say no pm but many of us here go on them anyway. The main thing to avoid is rides with magnetic brakes, usually newer roller coasters like the new Manta at SeaWorld.

Stay hydrated! Summer in Orlando is brutal and you have to make a conscious effort to drink enough water. In my opinion, this is the biggest risk for us.

Simply get in line, remove shoes and all other items as required. When you get to the scanner, simply tell them you need a male/female assist, whichever you need depending on what sex you are. They'll pat you down and you're on your way...no worries...

industrial strength magnetic fields

Ask your doctor before going to Disney. Some amusement park rides have industrial strength magnetic fields and you couldn't go anywhere near those any more than you could go near an MRI. For the same reasons.

You know you're wired when...

You know the difference between hardware and software.
