medication not working

Hello all...I have a question, my Dr has been changing my meds to prevent me from having so many arrhythmia 's, (I was diagnosed with ARVD) Ive had my device since 2/17/09, its getting progressively worse , the first time he changed it was after I got shocked 2 times in a day, and he told me it gave me therapy 60 times within a 2 week span...after that change of meds it was 53 times in 1 week, so again 2 days ago he added another ...I cannot even walk up a flight of stairs without feeling the tiny pulses giving me therapy...me being 35, am getting very discouraged to say the least...how could I be honestly getting worse and not even the slighest bit better?? he is trying to resort to not giving me this very strong medication that eventually effects your liver and your lungs, due to my young age especially...
say worse case senerio..if that strong medicine doesnt work, what would be my other alternative? I cannot live my life not being able to even walk to my car...
he is also one of the top Dr's here on Long Island, should I consider going to Maryland , John Hopkins for futher help?

Hello ATMPLUMB,

If you have already looked at this, you may find ansers to a lot of your questions at www.arvd.com/q_a.html. It is something from John Hopkins.

Good luck on your search for help.

Medication

I think that the med you are referring to is Amiodarone, which can be very toxic. However, this past week, a new version has been approved by the FDA (Multaq...dronedarone), which doesn't have much toxicity at all and is still very effective). Do a google search on it.

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.
