Hello:
I have had my PM since Valentines Day and was wondering when I can sleep on my left side without worrying about
my leads? I have done my exercises from the start and have
almost no soreness now.

safe and comfortable aren't the same thing

It's not unsafe to sleep on your left side now, but it might hurt. It took me a good 2 months before I could comfortably sleep on my left, but my pm is buried pretty deep so my recovery was longer than average.
Six weeks is how long you need to be concerned about your leads. Don't lift your left arm higher than shoulder level or lift more than 2 or 3 lbs with your left arm. Anything else goes.

Its been 6 weeks since my PM was implanted. I had an issue with sleeping on my left side at first as well. It is just now that I am attempting to sleep on my left side but it is turning out to be a comfort thing. I like sleeping with my left arm over my head, but since this has not been allowed for the past six weeks, I have developed a way to sleep on my left side in other ways. One, I place a pillow against my back that then gently roll to my left until it feels comfortable. Works for me, I sleep like a log. And for a change, will sleep more on my right side or totally on my back. As they said above, you will be restricted for the next six weeks but after that, things should get back to normal. Good luck.

Wow I have to say I think something then come on here and there's my question already asked and answered. I was just thinking the same thing sierra was asking, I just had mine out in in Jan they had to go in a sec time the week later becasue my lead moved so it is very tender. I love sleeping on my left side and get scared to do it not affraid of the lead moving put the pacer moving. I gotta love Patch's response about his wife sleeping on his left side and not moving and geez the cat jumping on you man you don't have much luck do ya.... I have 3 boys and a playful husband and I get worried one of them is going to hit into that side. I am always saying watch my arm watch my arm!!! I am hoping the tenderness and pain goes away with time it gets annoying. I'll have to try the upside down bat sleeping...sierra good luck when you do get to finally sleep comfortably. And Patch either push her off the bed or tell her to sleep on the couch.LOL

Angelie, thank you for my laugh of the day.
For the first four weeks with my PM I felt like I was doing yoga in bed trying to get comfortable. Now after six weeks I can sleep on my right side but it will be some time before I can do same on left side.

hi, I have my pacemakers (now 3) for 7 years and at times still hurts to sleep on left side, so I place a small pillow under left arm and side
Go for it!

Sleeping on your left side will have no effect on the leads, unless you raise your arm over your head. It is only a matter of comfort. I started sleeping on my left side in about a week. I just rolled over on that side gently or it let me know.

I just haven't been able to get comfy since my pacer implant, so I just hang from the ceiling and sleep like a bat.
Seriously, whatever you gotta do to be comfortable. I couldn't sleep in my favorite positions because of pain at my pacer incision site, but after a few months that subsided, and I just sleep upside down now for the fun of it.
Welcome,
Angelie
