Still Frustrated

Hi,

Since my last post, I have had more issues. My cardiologist sent me to my pulmonary doctor because he believes that my SOB, palps & dizziness might be pulmonary related (even though I had 2 PFT's - 1 in 2001 & 1 last year - that showed my lung function to be ok, not great but ok with no change in numbers at all). So I went to see him again because I want to feel better somehow - willing to do anything. We did another PFT which actually showed a slight improvement in my lung function since last year. My pulmonologist said it is definately not lung related because I have been stable in that regard since 2001 - he said it is cardiac. So I took the info back to my cardiologist thinking that now we can maybe do something about the pacemaker and settings (as you might recall in my previous post they had adjusted my settings many times trying to get it to work for me - even telling me that my pacemaker was not a very good one at all). When I told my cardiologist what the pulmonary doc said - he told me he did not believe him. He still feels there is a pulmonary component to this. OK now what???? I cannot even walk up a small flight of stairs anymore without having to to stop because I am so short of breath and having my heart to flip-flops in my chest. I cannot carry a lunch tray across the hall without being completely wiped out. Exercise.....not even close! With totally frustrates me because I am only 41 and used to be able to do 3 karate classes a night with alot of cardio work. Now what do I do? I have both doctors pointing their fingers at each other and no one willing to help me. There is something going on because I do not feel good at all - but no one is helping. Close to giving up. Please help.......

Sorry you are not getting answers...

I would have to agree with chip......go see another doctor...it is not normal to feel how you are feeling...and you are entitled to answers....it's their responsibility and duty....someone is not giving you the whole story....don't give up...you need someone to complete the next chapters for you. I am not exactly sure how your system works in the states but I am of the impression that you can pretty much go to any specialist as long as your HMO gives the ok....so if you have the go ahead ask around....I don't know where you live but maybe there is someone on this sight that lives in your area that might be able to suggest somewhere that you could go.

Good luck and please keep us posted.....cheers, Mary Anne

I forgot to mention that I have a ELLA single atrial lead pacemaker put in June 2008.

Time for a change?

Can you say "SECOND or THIRD opinion"!

I've sure found that when you can't get answers KEEP Trying and soon you'll find a doctor willing to go the extra mile to help you.

I'm close to your age and just couldn't accept it when a surgeon said "go home and learn to live with it"! I ran to another doctor and found the treatment I needed.

Don't give up! There is help out there but sometimes you have to seek it out.

Good luck and drop a message if I can help in any way.

another opinion

Definitely time to get another opinion! Have you seen an EP yet? That's where I would go next, that's a specialized cardiliologist. And don't go to one that's buddies with your current doctor and takes his opinion, get someone new who will take a fresh look at your case.

Has your pm rep brought in another opinion? Odds are good it's your settings, which are done by the mfr's rep. Some reps are better than others and doctors generally depend on the rep for the settings.

Pulmonary problems don't start as soon as you get a pm, that's too much of a coincidence. Have you had a stress test while hooked up to the pm? That will show exactly what happens when you exercise.

Keep on them! It's not uncommon to take some time to get your settings just right and get you feeling good again. If they aren't listening, find someone who will. Good luck!
