Fainting Sensation Follow-up

I had a post ER follow-up with my EP yesterday.
He said that it appears as if my problem could be VVS (just like Boatman). This is basically a sudden drop in blood pressure that causes the sensation of getting ready to faint, and at times causes your heart to stop (like me in January).
The good news is that my Sinus Node maybe OK (no way of knowing); I have a PM in case the VVS is intense; Now I am taking a small dose of Beta Blocker to try to manage the VVS.
Long story short, m...

Had My First Interrogation...Early

I have some paper work from my first interrogation....I can't decipher it! Tha doc says he turned the pulse amplitude down to 1.50. I don't see where it was higher in the first place.

Could one of you that knows how to read these tell me what I am looking for.....the important information.
I only have a single lead in the atrium. I have SSS. I am only being treated for the brady right now. The doc wants to see if the new rate wont help settle down the tach....which only occurs w...

pacemaker fitted yesterday

I had a bi lead pacemaker fitted yesterday and 24 hours on I am feeling absolutely fine. The operation (carried out by the NHS in the UK) was very straightforward. I had minimal sedation and was awake throughout with no pain at all. Post operatively I have had, as yet, no pain relief whatsoever. I'm no martyr and I'm far from brave - I just haven't needed it thus far. My shoulder is a bit stiff and there is maybe a very slight ache but nothing that requires pain relief.
Prior to the procedu...

Foreign Travel

Hi,

I've had my PM for 2 weeks, but I'm still depressed that I'll have to live with it the rest of my life.
I love to travel; but now I'm worried.
I think travel around the USA and Canada is fine, since we have excellent hospitals and medicare.
But outside North America, it seems to be dicey.
For example, if I travel to Egypt, and the PM goes haywire, what do I do?
Of course, everything depends on how reliable are PM's?
My EP says they are extremely relia...

New mom to be here. . . .

Hello everyone! Back in Jan. 2007 I had a pacer implant, got married in Dec. 2007 and now are expecting in Oct. 2008...just curious for moms out there who have pacers or what not and have raised little ones. I don't really know why I am nervous but I just am. Both my cardiologist and OB decided it would be safest for me to do a c-section. Would just be nice to hear from someone who's had children with a heart condition.

Best of luck to you all, hope everyone is enjoying their su...

Fainting Sensation

I have read that several people here found out they needed a PM after having fainting episodes. So here is what happened to me yesterday:
After lunch, I was sitting talking with a friend and all of a sudden I began sweating to the point I was drenched, my hearing was muffled at best, and I felt as if I was going to pass out at any second.
My friend took me to the ER since I have not felt like that since the day my heart stopped. The ER doc did an interrogation of my pacemaker and it...

Pulled Leads

I was wondering if anyone has felt their leads pull? I was cleared to golf and felt pretty good playing. It wasn't until a couple of days later that I developed pain in my left side around my pacer. It felt like something had moved or pulled. It may just be the stretching of the scar tissue. At first it was intense but now the pain is beginning to subside. I have full movement. Otherwise I feel better than I've felt in month. I notified my Dr and he said to wait and see how it goes. He...

Boston Scientific PM/Defrib.

Thank you all for all the support & encourgment, during my recovery. You have answered many questions that I had, it helped me a lot. Wonder why the Ep & other surgeons don't tell us more about what to expect. Mine never told me that , the device could be set after surgery. I am schelued for another surgery later in Aug. I am having a PM/Defbri. The brand they are going to implant is:a Boston Scientific device. Has anyone heard about this one, or does anyone have this brand implanted. Would ap...

my baby back in hopsital again!

i posted a message to you all recently expressing my concerns and worries as my baby with complete heart block was having a pacemaker. thanks for your replies. He was back home and had to go back to hospital due to severe reflux problems for a week. Then back home again and had to go back to hospital after 3 days as his wound on his chest appeared to be infected and was crying uncontrolably. Its been a very stressful horrendous month. I've done nothing but worry and cry. I've spent hours af...

ICD/PM

You are right Smitty, it had just been a bad day. What I said to the person whose grandfather was getting a PM/ICD was I had a 3 wire unit to increase my EF. They first put in a 2 wire unit, then 5 months later they added a 3rd wire and changed units. I asked the Doctor if Medicare would let him do that and he said sure. I don't know exactly what the criteria for the 3 wire unit is. As for getting zapped it happened to me twice not long after putting the unit in, as I have said before I would e...

Getting to know more

Hi. My grandfather is a candidate for the pacemaker defibrillator combo device. I nor my family knows much about all this and we are trying to get some info and opinions. Apparently just the pacemaker wont do what his heart need. His heart only does 35% of the work it should and is decreasing rapidly. He has always been an outdoorsmen and now can barely get out of bed. He was taking medication that seemed to help but the side effects were worse. He just wants to be able to get up and around agai...

Firefighters with Pacemakers

Hi everyone still havn't returned to work yet but the Fire Dept's cardiologist has released me for full duty also, just waiting on paperwork & what the Chief is going to say. I did finally get a response from the NFPA on the 1582 standard.
9.4.10 Pacemaker or Automatic Implantable Defibrillator.
9.4.10.1 Physician evaluation. A medical condition requiring a pacemaker or automatic implantable defibrillator compromises the members ability to safely perform essential job tas...

weird reactions

I had a real interesting experience and am wondering if others have had something like what happened to me, happen to them.

I went to the optometrist last week to have my eyes checked. Not a totally routine thing but close enough. They put drops in my eyes to dilate them. As my husband doesn't work far from the hospital, I headed to his office to have lunch with him. On my way there I began feeling ... not well. I progressively felt worse and worse...light headed, palpitations, sweati...
