what can be done

Is there anybody out there who might know of a web site, person or persons in the medical field who is willing to give straight answers to our questions. Reading about so many people haveing problems (including myself) is very disturbing. This web site is a great tool for knowledge and support but the companies making our devices and the doctors putting them in need to help us way more than they are. strting from the bedside before placing a pm . Too many of us around the world are suffering among...

Utube Special

Just to let you all know that if you go into GOOGLE type in Utube and go to the Utube web site and enter CHANGING THE BEAT in the seach box you will be able to watch a 57.57 minute (Nearly 1 Hour !!!) video of two electrophysiologists talking about pacemakers implantation , complications and further developments. Its highly educational. Warning though there is some live video of pacemakers being implanted and if you cant stand the sight of blood etc dont watch the video. I think it is really int...

PM & golf

Well, my PM was put in at the right time! After the postponement from last week my bp & heart rate were fine. After I got home yesterday from the insertion I was around 75-82 heart rate; when I checked before going to bed, I was like 140/74 and heart rate was 60! The PM was pacing. If I had not been one to believe in prayers (which I am) I sure would be now! (Boy, this one hand pecking is different!)

Anyway, a question for golfers; any ideas as to how long you really have to wait befo...

PM inserted today!

Well I was successful with having my pacemaker inserted today. I arrived at St. Josephs at 8am and finally got out of there around 3pm! To all responders of my 'staying overnight' questions, I am also one of the few who did not have to stay overnight! A real 'out patient' experience.
Anyway, does anyone have the Zephyr SR Model 5626 from St. Jude Medical? That's what I have.
Thanks.....duggie

How to post a picture.

Hello all you smart people.

I have been having some trouble uploading photos. So far, the advice I have received has made no difference.
I need a volunteer, who would be willing to explain to me step by step how to proceed.
What exactly do you do from A to Z to post your photo?
I posted one on my own, a long time ago, and since then, my computer has rebelled. May be it got spooked?
Thanks,

Smart Key (Keyless) Entry and Start Feature on Toyotas and Other Cars

Is any one familiar with the smart key (keyless) entry and start feature on Toyota and some other cars? If you have the fob in your hand or purse, the driver's side door unlocks when you approach the car without having to push a button on the fob or use a key. To start the car you push a button instead of using a key.

I was just about to go and finalize a deal to purchase a 2009 Toyota Corolla with the smart key feature, when I found out on the internet that there is a cautionary stat...

First Check - Not sure

Well I went to my first check since the implant of PM.
Explained how I was feeling. My cadiologist agreed that I could have the base rate turned down to 50. He said that the rapid response was turned off or low (couldn't understand that part of the french conversation) and that the voltage was also taken down. I also asked about the medication and that if the ectopic beats were just benign and I did not have any heart problems that would suffer I would prefer to try and stop the Bet...

Long time no post...

Hello all. Just thought I would check in and see what is going on in "here". I am just pacing along great. I did need to go into the hospital recently to conduct an EP study with a possible ablation because I have been having symptoms of superventricular tachydardia. The doc was not able to duplicate my heart rythms, so he did not ablate. This all happened a month ago. Today I went in and spoke to the doc's nurse and he told me that they saw that I definently had a heart block in my ventr...

6 weeks in, got some issues.......

Hi Guys...

Right, deep breath, I'm 7 weeks down the road from my DDD Medtronic PM fitting for 3rd Degree AV Block and 29 years old living in Milton Keynes (UK), haven't been on here for a while so apologies for the intro ;o) The op went ok, and I'm yet to have my first pacer clinic check up, which maybe the answer to my fist concern but the wound is still pretty sore to touch and I'm struggling or maybe afraid to pick up my 2 year old daughter or when I do I cringe as it stings and is...

Frustrated

Well I haven't posted on here in awhile. I am not doing very good. About a month ago, I passed out at the pulmonologists office. I refused to go to the ER because like always I knew nothing would be done. Last Sunday morning I was at work and started having severe chest pain. I went to the ER, but not before I got so confused I didn't know where I was or anything.

They said my BP was dropping really low. I had a positive tilt table test (and couldn't get a BP reading) and they placed...

Confused? So am I...

Hey everybody. I am just wondering if anybody else is as overwhelmed by the amount of Medtronic recalls and lawsuits these days. With as many people depening on them everyday! I have never had a problem with Medtronic, but I am feeling a bit concerned...

A NEW LEASE ON LIFE.

I found this article in Reader's Digest, and I was so fascinated that I had to share it with you.
In the near future, there will be a new protein, like a seed that causes new vessels to sprout, creating a network of capillaries and small arteries.
Could that be the end of open heart bypass surgery, or a cure for CHF?
Please read on.

RISKS OF PROCEEDURE

I am always amused when asked to sign a consent form in hospital. I one had one once that had hand written in big letters accross it "Risk of Death". It took me one second to sign it.
To me all consent forms should also list the risks of not having the treatment as those risks are much greater. I know it is frustrating if something does not turn out as well as it could or should have done. For a very few the outcome can make the patient worse off than before. But when you go into hospital y...
