Hi I'm Jack's wife. I lost him in February of this year. He had a a-symptomatic 2nd degree heart block after he experienced a heart attach twenty years ago. He had a regular cardiologist and life was fine. In October last year he experienced a dizzy spell while we were in church. He was taken to hospital and his doctor said "Jack you've had the heart block for years but now that you've experienced symptoms its time for a pacemaker". No big deal I thought. Well, after the pacemaker he nev...

Hi,
I am wondering if it is normal to feel extremely tired after getting a pacemaker. On November 28th I passed out while driving my car. When I got to the hospital my heart rate was around 40. The doctors really couldn't find out why my heart rate was so low, so after a day in the hospital they sent me home. On December 12th, I passed out again--this time while laying in bed talking on the telephone. When the paramedics got to my house my heart rate was 32. I was taken to a different...

After reading the cost of surgery etc. for a PM I got to wondering does it cost the same for a replacement? I have only had mine for 6 months but at the rate we are paying I won't have paid off my first one before I need a new one!

Hi Dear Friends,
I am now about 29 hours post surgery. I had my new angel placed in me yesterday morning. Thank you to everyone of you who sent me messages, prayed for me, and kept me in your thougths.
The surgery went well. I got to the hospital by 6 AM and was home by 11AM with a brand new angel....my new St. Jude pacer.
I am still tired from all the meds and I plan on taking a nap anytime that I feel like it! I guess after 13 years, I forgot about what the incis...

I got my pacemaker on Oct. 16. I expected pain/discomfort from incision. But now, whenever I am active I get a burning pain above my pacemaker. I showed my doctor where the pain is and he says that is the location of the leads. Neither my cardiologist nor cardiac surgeon say that they have ever had this reported before, and can offer no help other than try something over the counter for pain. Can anybody tell me anything about this?

WE SOULD ALL THANK MR. JOHN HOPPS
John Hopps, a Canadian, invented the first heart pacemaker. At the age of 21, he joined the National Research Council in 1941 after training at the University of Manitoba as an electrical engineer. He found that by using mechanical means the heart could be artificially started again after it was exposed to a cooling process. With this discovery, Hopps was able to build the firs...

Hi there.
I had my pm changed out on Dec. 19th. When they went to put the temporary pacemaker in, they determined that I was born without my "external iliac vein" in my right leg. Has anyone else heard of this? I've been looking on the internet trying to find the probabilities of this occurrence and to see if any one else mentions this condition, but have not come across anything.
I'm not concerned as I haven't had any problems with it, but I'm really curious and inter...

I have a recalled medtronic lead and have been urged to follow up with a lawsuit against medtronic due to possible complications down the road, even possible death. Has anyone else been contacted and if so, what are you doing about it. I have heard that medtronic is offering $800.00 to replace the lead which does not cover the cost at all not to mention any complications that might occur.
When I ask my medtronic rep about replacing it she was very vague and acted like it was not their p...

Hope you all had a great Christmas. We had a quiet time. We couldn't go to the beach as the weather was so windy and cold. It was just a quiet time with my daughter and Grandson and my husband, Brian.
We are gradually sorting out everything. In a couple of months we are packing the car and taking the dog and just heading off into the sunset like Thelma and Louise. Our doc said it was the best thing we could do. Just walk away from the BBB

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe Christmas. Just wanted to say hello to everyone.
Oh I was also wondering if anyone ever had any problems with going to the dentist and their equipment......I went today and the lady was working with me was really dumb. So I just want to make sure that I was not around anything that would interfere.
