Chronic cough

Members...I am at my wits end...and would appreciate any and all information you can give me. Has anyone, after having a pacemaker implanted, developed a chronic cough????  I have had this hacking cough for well over a month. Have tried the honey and vinegar, honey with tea; none of that helps. My primary care doctor thinks it may be Lisinopril (my blood pressure medicine) causing it. So, as of tomorrow, he is weaning me off the Lisinopril and starting another medicine. Hopefully, that will...

pain

Hi all, Got my PM on 12-28-10.  Everything seemed to be going well. Today I started to get some pain near my heart. Sorta feeling like a gas pain, sorta cramping. If I take a deep breath it hurts also. If it still hurts me tomorrow, I will call the doctor. Has this happened to anyone else?

Leads migrating into neck?

Thanks

Holter Monitor

I have had a pacemaker for 8years and I had my regular check up last week where I was told everything was fine. Now I have received a letter saying I need to be fitted with a Holter monitor for 24hours to record my heartbeat. Nobody has explained why I need this done. Anybody know why they may be doing this ?

Shoulder pain that wont go away

May 4, 2010 I had a pacemaker put in and ever since then I have had shoulder pain in the side of my PM was put in. The doctors keep telling me it's muscle or tissue from when I passed out or sleeping wrong. Always not related to pm. Has anyone else gone through this? The pain is still there,,,,some days its not to bad and some days,,, its a pain.
Also, is the scar suppose to still itch?

pain of moving PM under the muscle

How much difference is there in the level of pain with initial placement and placing the PM under the muscle to cushion it? I am wondering if it is the same, worse, or different depending on the amount of movement to that area. Although I am left handed, my right side (the pacer side) is the side I use most, it is stronger because I have had strokes that affect my left side. I am just waiting to be scheduled to get this thing moved so I can be more comfortable. I am still not sleeping well, s...

please advise

Hi all

I’ve had my PM since 12-05-2010 and things have been pretty good until November of this year. At times I would have some trouble but an adjustment to my meds would take care of things. For the last few months I’ve been having low heart rate then the PM would give me a jump (which wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be). I would sometimes go in and out of this for hours. I was taken from work in an ambulance the Monday before Thanksgiving. I was winded,...

follow up on still in pain and still not sleeping

Hi People,
Went to see the EP and he said it needs to be moved under the muscle. He asked if it was doing its job and I advised except for the pain of the pacer and shoulder hitting I was satisfied with how well my heart is tripping along now.
He is going to be getting with plastics to get this fixed ASAP and said never let pain ride... gripe about it. Thanks gor getting me moving on this.
Best Always,
Kathy

Pacemaker dilemma!

I've had my pacemaker for over 9 years and I'm coming to the end of it's battery life. My dilemma is this: I have had this device for 9 years and its been on stand by for about 9 years, it's not being used at all and I've had more problems with it in then when I didn't have it. My heart never raced so much when I didn't have it in. My cardiologist is up in the air with it and seem to not pay too much attention to how I feel. I'm very tired and stressed out on what I should do. I could really use...

Diaphragm hiccups

Hi everyone,

I am a new, but not new to devices. My BIV-PM is my first, but I have had 2 ICD’s. My question to you all is:  my diaphragm is driving me crazy.  Is this normal?  Will it finally settle down?  I have been to the doctor twice since my surgery and they have done some adjustments. They changed some of the settings for the diaphragm and some other settings because I was feeling very weak throughout the day. The answer I got was the PM...

Followup to "many new symptoms since implant"

Short version is this- I believe the ultimate cause of all my ongoing my new symptoms is adverse side effects of Betapace AF. I have been taking it for years without any noticeable side effects other than fatigue which I eventually adjusted to. After my last stint in the hospital, my cardiologist upped my dosage from 60mg 3x daily to 120 mg 2x daily. I totally forgot about this increase when writing my original post because it was such a minor increase and because I have taken it for extended p...

odd feeling

Hello everyone! Lately I have been getting horrible spasms in my left armpit and chest area right where my PM is implanted. This isn't my first PM, but for some reason these cramps and spasms are getting much worse and much more frequent than they used to, and every time this happens I have to lift my arm up for probably over a minute for the cramp to go away. I can't even sleep on my left side anymore because the pain and tension starts instantly; it is also starting to effect my work life. I t...

many new symptoms since implant

I’m a 54 yo male, have had chronic AF for about 8 or 9 years. Have had 2 cardioversions in the past and have been permanently out of rhythm for last 2 or 3 years. Not a big deal to me, I am used to it, know what it does, and know what it is when symptoms become noticeable. I have been seeing same cardiologist throughout and have never in entire time called for an appointment due to abnormal conditions, every appointment has been routine and scheduled at the previous appointment.

Still in pain, still not sleeping.

Hi.  I haven’t written lately because I am so bummed about feeling lousy that I didn’t have the heart to even talk about the whole mess. I am still in the same pain I wrote about earlier. It has been since 27 September and the pain I get from my shoulder and pacemaker colliding if I move wrong in my sleep or while I am working is not getting any better. It is still bad enough to make me throw up.

Who do I need to talk to about this? The EP people, cardio guy, my gene...

First Timer

Hello, my name is Patsy and I became a member of the club on Dec.28th when I received my pacemaker. I hope this works for me as I’ve had a couple conversions and an ablation. The Dr. thought this was the way to go. I sure hope it makes a difference. It is years since I was in sinus. I feel every once in awhile a flutter like the a-fib wants to kick in but it stops after a couple flutters. Is this what I will feel and does it eventually straighten itself? I also didn’t think it would...

Repositioned PM

Hi

I had my pm implanted Jan 2010. Everyting seemed fine but in July I had to have it repositioned as it had moved out of its pocket. It seems to be doing the same thing again and I now have terrible pain in my shoulder and arm. The pm does protrudes if I raise my arm. Is this normal? I'm due a further check mid Jan. Should I be worried/concerned?

I'm a new member and have used this site for info over the last month or two and its the best I've seen so I have confidence I...

Lead Sleeves

Hi everybody; I've not posted for a while and was hoping if someone could please help.

Nine months after my implant, I am still having pain and discomfort at the PM site. Having gone for a second opinion, the Consultant has diagnosed that the Lead Sleeves are extremely superficial, and this is what is causing the constant prickly soreness. The discomfort is coming from a nasty "lumpy bump" just above the PM scar, and I am worried, that as an active person - (golf, swimming and hor...
