pacemaker

Hi just would like someone to help, I had catheter ablation done about a year ago for inappropriate sinus tachycardia.  My doc told me this worked but my heart rate dropped so I had to have a pacemaker put in, it was set at 60.  Then a few weeks later my fast heart rate came back so after a few months of hospital visits they put a ECG monitor on. They said at the time my palpitations showed I was atrial pacing so again I’ve had another monitor fitted for a week and...

How can I disable my Pacemaker

On 24 June 2010 I was implanted with a Medtronic Versa1 two lead pacemaker.

In the following two months the unit was readjusted 5 times.

On the 7 September 2010 the PM was removed and tested and the bottom lead repositioned then the pm re-implanted. The following day I insisted that the PM be adjusted because of the number of server shocks and discomfort that I was experiencing.

On the 13 September I attended the local Cardiology Practice where the PM was...

Implementation complication

I have today been discharged from hospital some 10 days after initial implimentation. My consultant commenced implimentaion using a MRI compliant lead. This got stuck and couldn’t be removed by the cardiologist. They continued with the operation, which I was told would last 1 hour, eventually finishing 4 hours later.

After some meetings with another cardiologist from another hospital, they advised me to have the MRI compliant lead removed. They did this yesterday.

Frequent Sinus Tachycardia

Hi all!
I just received a call from my EP nurse regarding the results from my 30 day monitor. She said my rhythms are normal and just have frequent ST’s. In the message she did not state if they were IST or just plain ST’s and I didn’t need a follow up visit until my regular scheduled appt. I have searched ST and understand they are not a big deal but wondering what the long term effects are. I have a PM from a AV node ablation, have tried many different settings. Becaus...

spasms in chest

Since I have had the ICD implanted, I have been having spasms in the left part of the chest, below the heart. The seem to occur when I am seated, relaxing or trying to go to sleep. The spacing of the spasms appears to be about 15 to 20 seconds between each occurence. These spasms seem to be waking me up during the night. Some of the spasms are quite violent and can shake the bed and are uncomfortable but painless. Any ideas? Obviously this is related to the icd as I never had them before the imp...

What happens if a pm recipient dies?

I am trying to understand how the heart and everything around it works.

Could someone explain: my doc says the pm will not make the heart beat once a person dies. however, how does the pm find out that the person has died? after all, it is configured (for people like me) to keep the rhythm when my heartbeat pauses... and -for others- to revive you with a defib-function.

about me: 32yr old male with a pm since Aug 2010. I have (or had) AV Block III and a resting heart rat...

Light headed when laying down

Hello all!

Over the last week I have experienced light headedness when I lay down in bed. I have a dual lead due to an AV node ablation and just finished a 30 day monitor for IST which I have not received results other than a brief message of frequent sinus Tachycardia which we already knew. For the last week when I lay down I get really hot, and feel the tingling in my body that builds just like I feel right before I pass out. I check my BP which will be high but my pulse is fine....

please help

Hello, I have had my pacemaker since July 15 2010. Apparently I'm to small for it and it's causing all kinds of problems. I don't have insurance currently and my doctor has suggested physical therapy for my PM. My chest and back muscles are knotting up and my back muscles are pushing my pm forward. It has already torn my incision and is now healing again but I can't afford the physical therapy and I'm not real sure what else to do. I've since then gained some weight but I have a hernia in my st...

My pacemaker moves

Hi
I got my pacemaker in Feb, 2010. Healing went ok without any problems. But lately, last couple of months, I find that my pacemaker moves. Sometimes it is close to my armpit and I can feel the edge of it. Other times it is more in toward the middle left of my chest. Today it feels higher up than usual.
Is this normal? Does anyone else have this problem of their pacemaker moving around? I am worrying that something is wrong. Anyone that can explain whats happening?
Thanks...

Noises in my chest

Hi, I am new to this forum and hope someone can give me the benefit of their experience.
I have had my pacemaker about 9 weeks and right after I got it, I started noticing squeeking sounds in my chest when i breath. If I hold my breath, it stops. My primary doctor gave a lung xray when I told him. It was fine.
Now the squeek has changed into a growl sound and sometimes it gets loud enough to keep me awake at night. I don't notice when I'm upright, only when I am lying down. Has...

Help, what's up with this?

Hi everyone,
I'm freaking out. I have been through a whole lot with skips ect and this Friday I had two afib ablations and a pacemaker put in for slow skipping beats.

Saturday I came home and everything was great. Such a relief. Normal heart rhythm for the first time in years.

Sunday started noticing small twinges. Today. they are regular little skips I can feel in my pulse. I'm scared to death. I can't stand the thought of going through all this and still have...
