Grabbing pain every minute

Hi, I have had my dual chamber pacemaker since 2007. I'm 27 and haven't had many problems since placement. About 1:30 this morning I have had grabbing pain, which resembles a muscle spasm, timing the pain I see it happens once every minute for about two seconds and then releases. Is this something I should be concerned about? Its uncomfortable and its directly over my pacemaker which is implanted on the left side. I don't believe I have pulled that muscle and am quite worried. Any help would be...

Event monitor

Hi everyone!
Tonight I received a vm from my EP's office regarding the findings from my event monitor. I am confused as usual so I thought I would reach out to my PM friends for help. I have posted before but here's my info: PM implant 2/10 after AV node ablation. Since have been in and out of the hospital with SVT. Now up to 100 mg of Flecainide 2xday. I am an avid swimmer and my EP agreed to increase my upper limit to 180 (my request to support my needs while swimming) with an event...

Visual Migrain

I have been experiencing visual migrain 24/7 since receiving my pacemaker. I experience dark and light flashing , usually completely surrounding my vision. After 5 months, I have largely learned to ignore it, but it is still there. Research on the net suggests this is not an uncommon response to heart fibrillation, and we all know how the pacer is tested during implantation. I've come up with several potential drugs for treatment, but they are all so nasty so far I've just been living with i...

questions

Hi, I had pacemaker put in as an emergency 2/9/2010, I was never told to go to physical therapy. I asked both my surgeon and my cardiologist and was ignored. Now I have frozen shoulder and will start physical therapy this week. How effective do you think this will be considering the time that has past by??

PM under pectoral and aching

I've had my PM for almost a year and no complications for several months. I have been really active lately and the PM area is consistently aching. It is under the pectoral muscle. Has anyone else that has this sort of placement experienced this? The skin above the muscle is not red or particularly hot, so I don't think it would be an infection, but wondering what others have experienced. Thanks.

Continual pain after implant

I was very interested in Cathryn B's post about hypertrophic scar pain and her solutions. My situation sounds very similar - had first PM Jan. 2010, had it reimplanted 6 months later because of continued pain, hypertrophic scar, wires too superficial, not enough flesh coverage etc. My cardio has not come across this before and doesn't seem to recognize how much pain I have or what to do. I would like to try vibration therapy, please could someone tell me what to use for this as I know we can't...

UK doctors

Hi all,

Any one in the UK can recommend a good doctor?

I had law rate heart but no other symptoms and my doctor decided that it is necessary to have a pacemaker. I had the pace maker inserted on the 14 April 2010 by a junior doctor. I had hear perforation, pneumonia and now high blood pressure and pain in the left arm heart area.

I am desperate for a good doctor who would listen and examine the tests images.

Thanks

Hard heartbeats

Hi everyone,
I haven't been on here in a long time and I've miss it. Its good to read some of your posts again - this site is full of the kindest, most caring people around.
I have a question..do any of you know the reason why my heart is pounding lately? It's been going on for several days now and makes me feel lightheaded, weak and out of breath. My first PM implanted in 1995 was wonderful and I had no problems with it until it needed to be replaced in 2004. The current PM however, h...

Swelling in left arm...

I received my pacemaker on August 16, 2010. Things seem to be going fairly well. However, I am noticing swelling in my left are (pacemaker is on left side). Not severe, but uncomfortable, and troubling. I would love to know if anyone else is experiencing the same or anything similar.

Pacemaker adjustments

I have had my pacemaker about 5 weeks now and have had problems with the atrial lead stimulating my diaphram. The pacemaker rep's have made adjustments to it 3 times to try to keep it from stimulating my diaphragm. Each time it seemed to make to me feel worse. Is this all in my head that I would not feel as well as I did in the first 1-2 weeks before they made any adjustments? Before adjustments I did not notice my heart rate increasing but now I do. I do have tachy-brady sydrome (SSS) but...

Unknown pains

This is my first post and sorry its so long but you will understand after reading.

So my wife had a pacemaker put in on May 28th 2010 and she is under 30 years old. Everything after that has been awful. First she had a collapse lung happen during the surgery, She had chest tube to remove the fluid. Soon after they discovered blood clots in her arm and at the wire insertion point and have put her on blood thinners. Soon after that they discovered a lead had perferated her hear...

A loss

Nobody knew him and I totally forgot he had a pacemaker but my uncle just passed away a day before his 94th B-day. His PM was running low but the doctors told my aunt that they won't do a replacement for him. Pretty much he died from old age. He will be missed by all that knew him and loved him. RIP Uncle Erv.

Laying down....sleeping!!!

Ok...I've been wired for 9 months, and over the last 3 months, I've started having LOTS of trouble going to sleep and sleeping. I have almost a heavy feeling on my chest. I wake up at least 5 nights a week feeling like I'm catching my breath. I was doing an inhaler, because I thought it was asthma acting up. Even when I just lay down, I can feel my heart beating VERY hard and tends to make me even kinda nervous feeling? I have the most trouble when I'm on my back and on my right side. Left...

Something Still Wrong

So for anyone who read my post from yesterday, I saw the doctor today after another episode. (By the way I take no meds)

Yesterday: First thing in the morning took dog for a short walk and could tell my HR was rising. Came home went upstairs and HR took off to at least 140. (The upper limit on my pm is 150).It continued to rise with minimal effort. Told daughter to call 911. HR was coming down when EMT arrived. In hospital all was ok. Saw the EP and they set my pm to record atrial act...

the is getting very hard

My mom got her pacemaker over 10 weeks ago, and it still hasn't healed. About 3 weeks ago, the Dr. removed the pacemaker body (leads intact), cleaned the wound, replaced the pacemaker and stapled the wound closed. Staples were removed and the lateral edge still hadn't healed. I think she is rejecting the pacemaker, but the leads seem to be working well. I think the pacemaker needs to be removed and the wound allowed to heal. Can this be done?

Something is wrong

Came home from the ER about an hour ago. This morning after coming back from a walk with the dog, my heart began to race up to about 150. Since I have a pm for 3rd degree heartblock as soon as the HR went above 150 it put me into heartblock.

Everything was fine in the ER. The only adjustment madeto the pm was to see what the atrium was doing .

So almost as soon as I came home it started again. HR went up to 140 just sitting. It is going up and down and I feel miserable. Ju...

Hi

Not been on the site for ages and coping well. Recently though have had a bout of missed beats feels uncomfortable. Went into A & E and they hooked me to a heart monitor for the night and said nothing untoward and I am due to see a cardiologist on the 29th September. Been told in the meantime to not over-do exercise until checked.

Anyone else out there get these bouts and any info on what I can do.
