Something is wrong

Came home from the ER about an hour ago. This morning after coming back from a walk with the dog, my heart began to race up to about 150. Since I have a pm for 3rd degree heartblock as soon as the HR went above 150 it put me into heartblock.

Everything was fine in the ER. The only adjustment madeto the pm was to see what the atrium was doing .

So almost as soon as I came home it started again. HR went up to 140 just sitting. It is going up and down and I feel miserable. Ju...

irregular beats

Hi

Not been on the site for ages and coping well. Recently though have had a bout of missed beats feels uncomfortable. Went into A & E and they hooked me to a heart monitor for the night and said nothing untoward and I am due to see a cardiologist on the 29th September. Been told in the meantime to not over-do exercise until checked.

Anyone else out there get these bouts and any info on what I can do.

new PM and having trouble , shoulder/back

I am writing for my grandmother. she will be 84 next week and just had a PM placed 5 days ago. That was the beginning of what seems to be a long road! Did great the first 2 days and went home with me for assistance since she lives alone. (she has had 4 hip replacements and 2 knees so getting around requires a walker or cane. we didn't want her to over do the usage of her arm after PM placed)

The 3rd day after surgery she began to comlain of shoulder and back pain. Then there was...

Low heart rate

One year since my PM implant, I have doing exceptionally well, with no restrictions.

Today I began to feel very tired and slightly short of breath.

Checking my pulse I found it to be low: 52 bpm, but with a normal O-2 sat of 98%.

I will be calling the doctor in the morning.

In the meantime, any ideas on what the problem could be?

diaphragm stimulation

Hello Everyone! I am new to pmclub and would like and appreciate any feedback I can get. I have had my pm for about 4 weeks now. I had to have my atrial lead repositioned only hours after having surgery due to diaphragm stimulation. I did well for about two weeks then started to notice it happening again. I have had three adjustments to it since. I can't sleep on my stomach at all and occasionally if I am leaning forword or laughing I still have the same problem. My cardiologist said I was...

I expected to feel like a new woman !

I had a pacemaker fitted in June 2010. I didn't realise it was going to be so brutal and had an ablation procedure 3 days later.
Just after my pacemaker was programmed, I got migraine aura and had a migraine attack. The same happened when the pacemaker programme was tweeked. I am told this has nothing to do with the pacemaker, but I am not so sure. I also have a pain in my left jaw bone intermittently, a black dot and clouding in front of my right eye, bladder problems, cramp in left hand...

Pain when monitoring

When I use my home Carelink home monitor or when my Dr. uses his monitor to check my Medtronics PM it hurts like hell. It isn’t the surgery which has healed very well and never hurt. It feels like a strong cramp inside my chest, like a burning muscle sort of pain. It happens 30 seconds or so after the monitoring starts. After I’ve done my monitoring it stops but takes a few minutes to feel normal again.

I also can feel my pacemaker when it fires off. It isn’t to...

Help...I don't feel well!!!

Hi. I'm 3 weeks post ablation today for focal atrial tachycardia. I am feeling very unwell this afternoon (UK). I was ok this morning but since walking over the road to the shops this afternoon, I've had terrible chest pain. It won't go away. My chest really hurts. I've had a few "funny rhythms" too, just 2-3 beats out of sequence. Feel a bit dizzy when I get them. I feel absolutely exhausted yet I've not done very much today. The chest pain goes up into my neck too.

I am SO scared! I...

Raised Implant

It’s been over a year now, and my ICD has a substantial scar and the device is raised. Before the procedure, the Doctor told me it would eventually settle down and the scar wouldn’t even be noticeable or a very little line from the insertion location, but after a year and it not settling down.   I asked him about it and he didn’t even look at it...he just said it’s still a new thing for younger people and each case is a little different, not what you want t...

Need Advice

Hello Everyone,

Just found this site and am very pleased. I hope that maybe someone can give me some advice. I have had my pacemaker/defibrillator for about 2 months now. Everything is healed and doing well, except this morning I noticed that the incission is sore, seems like on the outside and inside too. There's no redness or swelling. Anyone ever experienced anything like this?

Thanks, Ed

Retweaked?

Hello all,
My cardiologist just called and said that I need to come in and have my pacemaker tweaked. It was the desk that called so she couldnt tell as to the exact reaosn why but she said it looked like it was even set for one beat too fast or too slow. They found this out while I was wearing my event monitor again due to some other epsiodes I have been having over the past year. has this happened to anyone else?

Seventeen Moths later

I am fifty two years old. My PM was implanted in Feb. of 2009, only 5 days after my oldest daughters funeral. She took her on life at the age of thirty four, ten days befor her thiry fifth birthday.
I started passing out. My legs became limp, and I couldnt stand up. I was admitted into the hospital the day after my daughters funeral. Several test and a week later I came out of the hospital with a PM. My heart rate was dropping below 40. The site stayed infected for two months after the imp...

INFECTION?

Hello, this is my first post on this forum. I just had my 3rd ICD replaced a month ago. Each time, it has taken a long time for the incision to heal and it drains. My doctor has always followed me carefully for infection. This time, about a half inch of the incision opened up, exposing stitches, and drained blood and pus. I called the DR. and spoke to his associate (mine was on vacation) He asked a few questions and told me to keep it dry and covered until I could see my own doc. He was suppose...

Dislodging of a lead

Hi: Just became a member to see if any of you could help me with a concern I have. Received Pacer 2/26/10. Now I see and can feel a pointy thing near my incision site and just above the actual device. Is it possible that the lead has popped out from it's place in my device? Has anybody heard of this or had this happen to them? My fear is another surgery to correct this if that is what happened but before I tell my parents I wanted to get your opinion out there in the Pacer World. Help plea...

Lead extraction follow up

I posted July 1 about my upcoming extraction and reimplantation due to a pocket infection. Thought you all might like a real world example of what that was like. I've had my pacer for exactly 11 years and have almost no complications. I'm a very fit active 53 year old male. Extraction was Friday July 16, leads were very encapsulated in the veins, Dr described it as an "arduous task", surgery took over 4 hours and "somewhat" damaged the vein. The next Tuesday a PICC line was inserted in my left a...
