New to all this

Hi
I am brand new to all this and very happy I found this club. I just got my pacemaker 4 days ago and am still getting use to the idea.
I will see the surgeon in 3 days to check the incision. All is well except I experience a little numbness in my left arm, the side my PM was implanted. Is this normal? I think I am just being a little paranoid but thought I should ask you folks that have been through it. Thanks so much for your info and help and for this site.

Hello Everyone!

Hope everyone is doing ok tonight!! :) I have another question for my smart friends. This is gross so sorry in advance! I got a stomach virus last Sunday and threw up ALL night. I stopped throwing up the next morning but when I was throwing up it felt like my pacemaker and lead were being pulled out of my chest!! Then I was having a sharp pain where the pacemaker is the rest of the night. Well now it is still sore but just a dull ache. Do you think I messed something up? The pacemaker is still w...

ICD EROSION

I have had a icd unit for 3 years now with no problems. I work as a stagehand and had a 25 lb reasonable lifting accomadation from my employer. Last June my managers scheduled me to work a show which required heavy lifting of arial gymnasts for their routines.I had requested prior to this show not to be scheduled to work due to my disability. The request was denied by my managers. As a direct result of lifting over 300lbs in a 4 day rehearsal my icd unit dislodged to underneath my left arm and b...

Migration and shallowness

Hi All, I've had my pacemaker for about 3 years now. Before fitting I was a very fit Firefighter and I had it fitted to cover dropped heartbeats (around 3-5 per day apparently). I found I needed because I was suffering from postural hypertension which caused me to pass out on one occasion. I had to wear a 72 hour ecg which showed the dropped heartbeats. I have continued to train rigorously and am still pretty fit.
Before it was fitted, my resting pulse was going as low as 38bpm. It is now s...

Infection at incision scar

Hi everyone, I feel I am still pretty new at this, got my PM 6 weeks ago, two leads and things seem to be going along good and 5 days ago a mean looking red spot developed at one end of my scar. Tachycardia

Well I went back to the Dr. Today for my follow up to my Echo-cardiogram. Good news is that my Echo came back fine... Bad news... There are some things on my pacer check that shows Tachycardia. I know on my last check I had about 10 episodes of Tachycardia and now with my recent hospital visit and the dizziness the Dr. is more concerned. They have lowered the threshold for high heart rate captures. It was set to record at a heart rate about 180 but now they have set it to record any heart rate a...

black outs

Hi everyone,

Just a query re the heart etc. I am a 47 year reasonably fit male from Perth, Western Australia. I had a dual lead pacemaker (medtronic ) installed about six months ago due to very low pulse ( resting 28 ) and everything had been well leading up to christmas. However over the past few months I have felt very dizzy when standing up after either sitting down or laying down for any lengh of time. For the most part I had managed these incidences OK but two weeks ago I woke up...

Pacemaker check ok, however

Received a bi-ventricular pacer in September of 2007. Reason was I had developed fatigue and breathlessness so extreme that I couldn't walk 10 yards without having to stop and rest. Quite debilitating to say the least. Electrophysiologist determined that I had developed congestive failure secondary to right ventricular decompensation.
I have done fairly well on this new device until recently...I now seem to be developing what, I can only describe as, surges in the 2nd or 3rd intercostal sp...

What is wrong with me?

I had a pacemaker put in 12/1/09, I have since been in the hospital again 1/25/10 for 4 days. I am still having fainting spells, I thought this would have all been done by now. It is so depressing, I dont know what to do anymore. I almost fainted again today, I felt very light headed more than once, my coworkers told I got very pale and looked like I would pass out but I didnot. They have checked me for seizures, which I dont have and have put me on a beta blocker when I was in the hospital...

Scar Tissue or Bludges

Hi all,

My mom had a pacemaker put in July 2009, and mostly everything is good. Recently however, shes has gotten these weird bludges around the scar. She tells me that when she is active, the area feels like its burning. The doctor tells her that it's likely scar tissue buildup or fatty tissue build up. But that really doesnt tell us anything.

So my question is, Has anyone else had this happen to them? and if so, have you had surgery to get them removed?

Thanks...

Pacemaker Problem

Hi everyone! I have had my pacer nearly a year and have been having problems with shortness of breath, dizziness, etc. I just had a stress test that showed that when my heart rate reached its high rate (140) my heart rate dropped to 70 (near the low setting for my pacer). the tech. thought that my pacemaker was probably causing the rate to do that. Have any of you every had this issue? If so, what is the solution?

Adrenaline Rush? HELP?

Hi all,
My husband has had his pacer for about 5 months. He had a Maze procedure for Afib. Outside of some PVCs, he has been in perfect rhythm with his pacer working 99% of the time. He is only 43 so this was all a big struggle emotionally. Which everyone on the site helped us through! - Anyway, as of late he says he has sensations like quick adrenaline rushes... anyone have any ideas?

They did a holter monitor a couple of weeks ago and no signs of problems there. They turned up...

1. I think I am overdosed. Had my 2nd visit to hospital and I am back but still not well. In hospital I was better but at home I am miserable.

How do switch you Cardiologist. My wife has placed a call to him asking for his recommenda...
