Effect of antihistamines while on Sotalol

Does anyone else have this problem? I have a pacemaker for paroxymal a-fib and take Sotalol. I am finally realizing that certain over-the counter, as well as prescription antihistamines can cause my heart rate to play games -- going at 79-89 bpm rather than the 69. I do have rate response turned on and don't want to be permanently set at 69 when I hike, etc. I am 71.
Does anyone else have this occur??? Suggestions for natural antihistamines that won't do this?? Thanks.

This is not a tingling feeling it is a hard pounding that actually kept me awake for more than 2 hours straight las night, also now h...

I have been sick for a little over 2 years now. I have had 3 ablations and 2 failed attemps. This was for ROVT. So needless to say the prob;em continued. I had a 30 day moniter put on because I started passing out again. In goes a pacemaker for Sinus Node Dysfunction. Apparently I would go from a very fast tach and then it would go to a-fib. UGGGHH! So I thought the new pacemaker on July 9th was going to fix al this.2 weeks after surgery all the same things started comming back again. My blood p...

One week after my PM fitting, I've been getting this weird pain inside my right rib cage. (My PM is on the left, just under the collar bone.)
Yesterday morning I felt some discomfort along the inside of the right lower rib cage (liver should be on that side too). 3am this morning I woke up with it getting worse, moving up the right side inside, midway. It feels like sharp shooting pain but gets worse when I breath just bit more deeply. If I sit up, the pain is mostly at lower rig...

I do not have a pacemaker, but I have a spinal cord stimulator implant by Boston SCientific. Research indidcates this was made possible after pacemakers and utilizes similar technology.
After a bad car wreck and l0 back surgeries, the doctors finally asked me if I wanted a morphine pump or a spinal cord stimulator. I prefer to be drug free thank you very much. However, during bad weather I am having great problems - particularly during electrical storms. I get shocked. Live nea...

My tech has told my pacemaker is pacing 100%, and that this is not good as it can lead to heart atrophy. Anyone know more about this?

I have had a three lead CRT-D device by Boston Scientific for less than a week. My left ventricle lead is turned off due to irritating the phrenetic nerve and my diaphragm. It is implanted inside an artery.
My tech says it is unlikely it will settle in, if it hasn't by now. My doctor is asking me to wait four more weeks and try again.
I also have had an awful time mentally and emotionally acclimating to this invasion of my chest and my life. I keep sensing it humming throug...

Please help. I have had Pacemaker 2 wks and don't know much about all of this. I am set at 60 and 130. Yesterday I got pulse or heart rate readings, don't know which, on our blood pressue machine of 49, 46, and 41. Dr. said to go to ER. ER got readings in the 50's, 40's, and low of 38. Pacemaker guy came out and 5 hrs later read me no lower than 60-pacemaker perfect. He said those low readings are kind of artifcacts or false readings. Does this make sense?
He said I am having...

I had a Medronic Atapta pacemaker implanted on Aug. 7. Within 4 hs. my BP began to rise and and peaked at 202/90 14 hrs. later. I was given additional med. to bring my BP under control and discharged. Since then my BP which has become hypertensive is being treated with a combo of Lisinopril and Norvasc but the results are erratic. I asked the cardiologist what is causing this hypertension, since before the implant my BP was generally 140 or less systoic and 70 or less diasystolic without med...

The doctor called and told me that the holter monitor shows my pacer was not kicking in, but that I did have some extra heart beats. He said they're nothing to worry about and I only had 109 extra beats in 24 hours. He told me it was a low number compared to others who's heart have much higher number of extra beats. He said that he even seen one that had close to 20,000 extra beat. They can't hurt you, is what he said, but, I really don't like the feeling of my heart having extra beats. Can anyo...

I am a 23 yr old female. I had my pacemaker implanted at age 15 so I have it 8 yrs. These past few days I have been experiencing dull pain all around my pacemaker area, armpit, left arm and left breast.
I can't see the doctor until at least Tuesday and I wondered if anyone had any insight as to what it may be or if you experience similar pain.
In the 8 years of having my pacemaker I have not experienced this.
Thanks,
Indigest

Hello all! I am just wondering if anyone has ever felt heat at their implant site. The other day, I happened to feel the spot, and it just felt really hot. I asked a friend (who is a nurse) to feel it later, but no heat. So, I just chalked it up to being in the sun or a fluke. The next day, I felt the heat again, and happened to be sitting next to my nurse friend. She also felt the heat this time. I wondered if this could just be a result of having a battery or generator kicking on, or co...

I have had a pm for 13 yrs now and have never experienced it moving before. The last few months it has been quite sore especially when lifting my arm above my head and making various arm movements. When i felt to see where it was, I wasn't sure whether what I was feeling was the pm or not as it isnt in the usual place. Not sure if I'm making any sense but I hope I am!!! Any advice?

My pacemaker is on stand-by, it only beats when my heart goes below 40 beats. I've been having problems with feeling the ventrical lead beating a lot in the past couple of days. The reason I know it's the ventrical is because when I go for my pacemaker check, I'm very sensitive to the ventrical lead beating my heart. I made an appointment with my EP yesterday and the tech told me that my heart is beating on it's own about 99.9 percent of the time, but, why am I feeling the ventrical lead pace f...

Well let me begin by saying if I didnt have bad luck I wouldnt have any luck at all!. Summary- I got a PM implanted on 6/11/2009 for atrial tach/SVT. I had an AV node ablation on July 29th leaving me 100% paced and that night I my ventricle lead failed (likely because they hit with a catheter when doing my ablation). August 2nd I was back in the cath lab to have a new lead placed. About 3 days after that I developed this very achey chest pain. It worsened to the point where I had it 24/7...

I've had my pacemaker for about 6 months now and it's still quite sore where the pacemaker sits. Has anyone else experienced this?
My doctor said it could take up to 6 months for scar tissue to fill in there, but I thought for sure by this point the soreness would be gone.
Thanks

I had my pacemaker installed on July 23rd. The scar is minimal as was the bruising and soreness. The last week I've noticed the edge closest to my armpit has lifted slightly and you can clearly see the edge of the unit. It's sore to touch and feels almost like a slight burning sensation when it's rubbed by a shirt etc. I called the pacemaker clinic and they kinda tried to brush off the problem saying that although it could be fixed I'd run the risk of infection if they had to open me up agai...

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
