my dad just had a pacemaker installed last Monday. He's 82.
He's home now, but claims he doesn't feel any better. He told me today that he has beating in his right arm, and it feels warm. I asked him if it is constant, and he said it's not. I'm thinking that this might be caused when the pacemaker kicks in. I caled Medtronic, but they won't give me any answers, said to call his Doc, but it's Saturday. Any advice? Is this normal?
Thanks so very much, Smitty...and Gellia2, for the info. Saw my Dad tonight. He is walking much better, quicker and more sound steps. I think he expected a miraculous recovery, wanted to feel better instantly (as the Doctor said he would). I told him what I'd read from the "clubmembers" and that all recovery times vary. I will call the Doctor on Monday. They did not schedule a follow up appt. for him after he was discharged from the Hospital. II called the office, and they said my Dad will meet...
I had a pacemaker implanted May 24 th this year 2007 , since the first week It turns up when I lay on my right side.I have to push it back in place. The doctor said it would probably be O.K. It stays some what sore. has anyone had this problem?
Hi all, four weeks since I had my op, not feeling bad on the whole except a feeling of tightness in my throat whenever I try to breath deeply or attempt any excersise. Did a little swimming this morning and that really set my throat off, quite painfull for 15 mins or so. Any advise on what may be the cause of it, I seem to remember reading other posts about the same problem.
Hi! I'm twenty years old and am having problems with my pacer. It is a dual chamber, but not a defibrillator. I had the pacemaker implanted in January of 2006. After a lot of pain, I had it relocated to be deeper under the muscle in November of 2007. I was doing okay for a while, but now it's coming back, worse than ever. I have an awful pain on the left side of my chest above my breast where the cite is. The pain also goes right below my underarm on my left side. The pain has recently been radi...
Wrong years, I apologize. It was first implanted January of 2006 and then relocated in November of 2006 as well.
I got my pacemaker 6 months ago and have complete resolution of my cardiac problem. No more fainting or dizzy spells, warm hands and feet, etc. I'm thrilled about that!
Unfortunately, I've had continuing problems with the location of the pacemaker -- too close to my shoulder, and the skin over the pacemaker is so thin I never got past the point of pain on the surface. I couldn't wear a bra strap on the left side, seatbelt hurt, couldn't sleep on my left, and any activity involving my left...
It's been almost 5 weeks since my pacemaker was implanted and I am getting short of breath. I already have CFS and was short of breath then, but, this time it's worse. If I'm up for maybe 3 or 4 minutes then I get pressure in my head and feel light-headed and short of breath until I can sit down.
It doesn't happen all of the time. Maybe 3/4 of the time.
I am wondering if it could be my nerves? I'm taking Clonazepam 0.5 mg tablet 2x daily for anxiety. I understand that this...
First off hello to to everyone, but the reason i on the occasion get to feel'n weak, rundown , and kinda jittery. and im certain its got to be this computer. i dont know if its the computer or my PM thats the problem, maybe its me, i probably need to get my butt of the computer. anyone else get symptoms like this?
Hi since my implant I have had 3 ablations anyone had that done before? thank you..
Say, have any of you experienced continued episodes of dizziness after implant? As some of you may remember, I had an implant (my first) 4 weeks ago, but I'm still experiencing daily lightheadedness and bouts of dizziness. It's getting to the point that I'm feeling as if all I want to do is stare at a wall and I must work! My Afib is the culprit, as I continue to feel palpitations throughout the day. Actually, the dizziness comes on most when I turn my head quickly or ma...
My PM is implanted in the upper portion of my left breast. Lately I've been having some pain behind the PM, or underneath - basically between the PM and the ribcage.
Implantation was 4 months ago.
I've also had itchiness and burning/tingling at the site, mainly the scar and above (where I can feel the wires).
Anything I should worry about? Or just more "new normal" stuff?
I've recently developed strange synptoms. I see lights in various forms and intensities. There also seems to be a circle of light in front of me. Has anyone experienced problems like this?
I am new to the pacemaker world, just got my implant on the 27th of June. I have a duel chamber biotronik cylos. I have expieranced very little pain from it, however I have a couple of symtoms which scare me.
I sometimes get swelling in the feet, not alot but noticable enough. I also still have nasea and seem to never really be hungry. I also sometimes get tingling in my feet, hands and face.
Are these normal reactions to the pacemaker implantation or should...
I SEEM TO REACT DIFFERENTLY THAN OTHERS WHEN MY DEFIB GOES OFF. I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM OTHERS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO THEM--ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING.
Hi all, I have had my biventricular pacer ICD since March 2006. It has been running very well, with it pacing my ventricles 98% of the time, but it has only needed to take over my pacing 40% of the time and the events have been minimal. In the past 6 months this has all changed, it is now pacing 89% of the time and I have had over 100 svt's each interrogation. I have also developed angina. (This is relieved by the patches and the spray) My main concern is that there may be a blockage in the...
He had a pacemaker put in in November. Every once in awhile he gets a sharp pain where the pacemaker is and then will get dizzy and light headed. Does anyone else have this problem or know what would be causing it? I'm not sure if he gets a pain and then has a panic attack or what. His pacemaker has been checked and it working fine.
I got my first PM 5 months ago. My surgery and recovery went smoothly, and my cardiac issues are completely resolved. However I've had ongoing PM pocket and scar pain from being very thin at the PM site, having quite a prominent "lump" sticking above my skin, and my shoulder "bumping into" my PM when I move my left arm across my chest, lift heavy objects, ride a bike, etc. I "met" another woman close to my age on this website who got her first PM 6 weeks after I did and has the same problem. We'...
Hello, I'm a 34 yo male and have had a dual chamber Medtronic pacemaker for about 3 months now, working beautifully. A couple days ago however, it took a direct hit from my 9 year old son's flying elbow during some horseplay :) which shoved it inward and pulled the skin over it. It still seems to be working just fine, but the site is extremely tender and there's this internal itch throughout the entire area that is driving me insane. Seems like a silly thing to call my electrophysiologist abo...
