I have had a pacemaker since Aug 2008. I had dizzy spells until Oct off and on and then they quit. Now I have had 2 more in last 2 days. Anyone know what is causing them? Do I need an adjustment. I had passed out off and on all my life and they said it was blood sugar, but finally say heart rate at 19 beats per minute and they decided I needed one. Heart failure or not??

2 weeks ago I was put in the hospital for an infected gallbladder that had to be removed. Before being able to do the surgery I had to be cleared by a cardiologist.Just to let you know what I am being treated for before I went into the hospital. I have a pacemaker for complete heart block, take medicine for afib and Wolff's Parkinson White Syndrone until ablation procedure scheduled for May that my EP said will leave me 100% dependent. They done an echo on me to discharge me for the surgery and...

Still skipping

Hi again, I feel really bad for constantly asking questions but I really don't know as much as I'd like about my PM and what I can expect from it. I woke up this morning and my heart skipped several times in about 5 minutes. It wasn't 2 to 1 block which my cardiologist showed me on my ECG, it was more missing one beat in every 10. I was under the impression that the PM would erradicate all types of AV block? Is this likely to be fixed when I have my first pacemaker clinic on Friday?
Thanks...

Never ending problems!

Hi guys. I only just found this site after having lived with a PM for 13yrs! I'm 23 and have had 4 pacemakers in 13 yrs because of problems! My last one had to be changed because I had pacemaker syndrome and as a result put in a second lead as I only one. My body then rejected it and had to have emergency surgery to place it under the muscle instead. Now what has happened is that for some reason (why i dont know) even though they have fitted me with a 2 chamber PM they cant turn on the vent...

Pain between shoulder blades

I have had a Metronix PM for almost a year and after four or five minutes of mild exercise I experience pain between shoulder blades and it will stay until I quit exercising then subside. I have passed a stress test and also a cat scan with the dye revealed a blockage which was removed and replaced with three stents but the pain is still there when I exercise. My Cardo is baffeled because we all thought unblocking the artery and the stents would fix it and it did not. Please offer any info yo...

BPM going below setting

I've just had my pm for a little over a week and it is set at 60/140. My problem was that my heart rate was dropping in to the 20s with me just walking around and it would cause me to pass out. I'm still dropping below 60 but I thought that the pm was supposed to keep that from happening. Does anyone know if this is normal? Does it take a while for your body to adjust? My blood pressure is also still going extremely low at times. I could use any advice since I'm new to this and do not real...

First known shock

I thought the devil himself had come to earth and zapped the Jesus out of me. Wow! All I was doing was cooking dinner with my wife when suddenly I felt this jolt come from nowhere. I felt fine up until then. It felt like someone punched me really hard in my chest. Hard enough that it brought me to the ground. My wife says that the jolt knocked me out, but I disagree. I think I was just stunned. I still cannot believe that the ICD actually went off. I'm in disbelief but glad I have it. That shock...

Link between heart block and migraines?

Hi, I hope you'll be able to help me.

I've been suffering with migraines since I was 8, I'm now 21. I used to get them whenever I ate chocolate (worst few years of my life, lol!!) but then they stopped for about a year when I was 14. After that I got them more regularly, about once every 2 or 3 months. It's not related to my period, as I kept a migraine diary at my GP's suggestion. He gave me medication to prevent the migraines, and the only one that really seemed to help was proprano...

still having problems

hello again all,
I saw my cardio on thurs....I dont know.. I feel like I too may be getting the runaround? I still am short of breath and have leg pain when I walk even short distance. I went for the doppler/duplex tests on the legs today- I was told arteries and veins look good. Cardio has me scheduled for stress test on the 17th and a complete pulmonary function test on the 11th.
Well, I guess he is trying to get to the bottom of this. But he had said to me that it probably isnt rel...

new second lead and problems

I had posted a message earlier regarding my new second lead. To clarify a little more: I only had one lead in the atrium and they added a second lead in the bottom chamber on Monday. The tech only told me they would have to change it while on the phone with the Dr. because he thought the reasons I was having the electric shock feeling after the new second lead was where he replaced it. I'm just concerned if its normal to continue feeling the shock run down my arm because with the first pacem...

Having a couple of problems

Hi, I had my PM put in on Saturday and from Monday I was back doing my usual things (nothing too stressful, going to pubs with my friends and walking around town, mainly) but this evening I noticed that my heart beat is definitely not regular, even worse than it was before my PM. Also, during and just after the procedure, my diaphragm was having weird spasms, but the technician managed to fix it. But while I was watching TV this evening they started up again, and it's getting really annoying now...

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
