I have had a pacemaker since Feb. 2007 on which I am 100% dependent because of an ablation. I had extreme palpitations and atrial fibrillation. I cant sleep well at night and its really getting through to me. I am talking about all night with no or little sleep. I was wondering if the setting on my pm could cause this. My low setting is 60 and she tells me if it goes below 50 to let her know. Some say they had theirs lowered and it helped. I can feel my heart beating in the ends of my f...

I have recently had my pacemaker replaced and am experiencing occasional spasms in my breast. Could this be nerve damage or some other cause?

Hi, I have had my Pacemaker for 2 years and one day, no huge problems so far, but recently I have developed frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) and it is becoming increasingly painful. Of course it is on the same side as my pacemaker implant, which seems to make it worse - the swelling is increasing, and the pain is pretty severe from the elbow to the neck, across the back as well. Does any one have any recommendations as to how to deal with this without interfering with the PM? Thanks, Daylil...

well, now the cardiologist, after 2 years of insisting tht it couldn't be an infection, is very excited and recommends immediate hospitalization and removing the pacer.
i have read many articles that confirm his recommendations, but that don't paint a very pretty picture of the mortality rate of removal.
i read one article that spoke of an unusual bacterium causing the infection which was treated successfully with antibiotics and no removal.i should add that at this time i have d...

You'll can look it up and see a lot of information on it. It's just that since it has come back and I have had ablation done on my AV Node and now have complete heart block, it HAS to be going in through another entryway. I am utterly confused by all this, you'll. Would you'll please read up on it and see what you can find? Thanks.

Hello everyone. I haven't posted in a while. I was wondering if anyone here has had an experience like I am having right now. I had to have AV Node ablation in 2001 that left me with complete heart block and a dual chamber pacemaker. I had my new generator put in in 2006. When I had to go in to see the tech for an interrogation the last few times, she told me that I have been having episodes when my heart rate would reach anywhere up to 180 BPM. Some of them would last up to 1 1/2 minutes to 3 m...
Weird sensations

I have a question. Yesterday I saw a cardiologist and got my pacemaker adjusted (I've had it a little over four weeks). Ever since it was adjusted I've had a weird sensation, sort of like PVC's - heart in my throat. It happens about 2-5 times per hour, and is worse when I bend over. It absolutely started right after the pacemaker "tune-up". Has anyone had this happen? I don't know if I should go back to my cardio, or just wait it out.
Thanks!

I had no idea that you can contract an infection several years later after having a pacemaker implanted. I thought an infection was caused at the time of implantation of the Pacemaker and caused symptoms a couple of weeks later. Blake your letter drew my attention to this fact. It was very well written, well done.
Hope everyone on site has a nice Christmas and a Healthy Happy New Year.

Hi I am new to the club, I had a pacemaker installed 3 wks ago. After the first day I had a terruble pulsating in my abdomen. After 5 days they found that a lead had come loose. They have shut off power to that lead but it has not been fixed. I have now been experiencing the worst anxiety I have ever had, at times I even felt like I was hallucinating. I thought it may be from the medicine from surgery. I have a condition called Mitochondrial myopathy and things do not metabolize well. Anyone else...

I had my pacemaker implanted 5 weeks ago and recently developed pain between my should blades, left arm and chest. It was determined that I have costochodritis. Has anyone ever gotten this? They put me on muscle relaxer and antiinflammatory drug. I'm considering going to a chiropracter. Has anyone gone to one? Any comments are appreciated. Inever thought it would take this long to feel better after this surgery.

I have had three Medtronic pacemakers since July 1992 with original Medtronic leads. After sixteen years of satisfaction of quality life the worst happens. My Medtronic Enrythem PM which I really enjoyed was showing signs of rejection. Over a period of six months of carefull observation my cardioligist finally decided to pull my PM two weeks ago. Luckily I'm OK without (limp mode). Question is, Alergy test showed Titanium and two plastics positive. My left chest has severe scar tissue bui...

hi, folks,
i haven't posted in a long time but i had a question that perhaps someone can answer.
i am a retired physician that had an icd implanted almost 2 years ago.
it has done a lot of good as far as improving my ejection fraction.
the problem i am having is that it has been somewhat tender every since it was placed.
lately it has been more uncomfortable and tonight it is downright painful.
it has been swollen, [getting more so] since insertion.

Hello, my husband is scheduled to have a epicardial ablation for SVT. Has anyone gone through this procedure? Please let me know what this entails and the recovery period. This is being performed at the University of Chicago in one week so any help would be appreciated. He had undergone a cathater ablation in August and the electrical problem is now on the outside of his heart. Thank you for your help.

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
