Working in high voltage electrical equipme nt

Dear fellow members,

Anybody out there having a permanent PM with MRI compatible and working in high  voltage switchgear room, electric motors, power turbines, welding activitied, and UPS system?. I have just my PM (MRI COMPATIBLE) implantation last 2 weeks and I was been declared unfit by my  company Doctor to work again as I will  considered to be a high risk in working environment.

unfit for work

I am a 56 years old, offshore worker working as Elect'l and Inst. Technician in oil and gas installation with a symptomatic slow heart rate which will go down to 25BPM. Aircraft comms and transponders

I have a PM and I am now 100% paced. I fly ultralight aircraft from time to time. I have checked power ratings for comms radio and transponder and concluded that the radio at 7W will not cause an interference problem but the transponder at 130W would be a problem. I no longer fly in aircraft where a transponder is fitted or I make sure it is turned off. Has anyone else come across this issue ?

Electrical/Electrician work with PM

Electric Shock

I was recently replacing some common houshold outlets with new ones when I accidentallty got a pretty good shock. It arced my pliers pretty good a caused a lot of sparking and smoke. I recollected my nerves and went on to replace several others. Well I managed to shock myself again, but the usual vibrating type of sensation that you immediately pull back from. It may just be coincidence, but later that evening I began feeling sick to the point where my body ached all over....

The various Dyson vacum cleaners seem to have magnets in their motor. I am trying to find out if

Lattitude and WIFI

Just wondering if anyone else has found if Boston Lattitude Communicator interferes with Computer WIFI? 

We have a range extender in our house and our internet keeps dropping out, we cant seem to find the source of the problem..... our service provider wondered if my PM would be interfering with it?

Recent Frightening Experience

I'm 75 yrs old and physicially active.  My experience with a PM has changed my life. It has taught me how volunerable and fleeting my life can be. I work out 4 times a week;  my work-outs are vigorious but never over the top. I'm very much aware that my lifting today is very different then my pre PM implants days.

Use of TENS machines - not all bad news!

Thought I'd post this as a snippet of useful information: after having my PM fitted 5 weeks ago I should think almost everyone and his cousin have told me you CANNOT use a TENS machine now. But I spoke with my cardiologist yesterday and he said it could be true for some machines but not all and the safest way to know is to get cardiac pacing to check it out. Pacemaker and a Fitbit

I will be getting a two lead Pacemaker in the next week or two and have a couple questions. #1-I wear a Fitbit Charge 2 (on left arm) will this cause any problems. #-2 The band is a metal band with a small magnet use to secure the band, will this cause a problem? Thanks in advance for your help.

Samsung Tablets and ICD: warning

I had my ICD implanted March 20, 2018. I also purchased a new Samsung Galaxy Tab A just before the surgery

While reading in bed I noticed a slight change in my heart rythm but did not think much about it.
Today I placed the tablet on a steel table to charge it and discovered that it was sticking to the table.

Guess what.

It has quite a strong magnet in the case and I immediately stopped using it.

Activity Trackers / ICD Device

Hi, I had Sudden Cardiac Arrest last June and have a Boston Scientific D140 ICD as a result.  I'm getting back into exercise and I've heard mixed feedback on interference with activity trackers such as a fitbit, etc.  Can anyone share their experience or knowledge on whether such activity trackers are a conflict or are safe for use.

I'd really appreciate it.

Elderly Mom and Cell Phone Usage

Pacemaker Hacking

Don't know if this has been addressed on this forum before.  If it has, I haven't seen it.  Don't mean to be alarmist, but this has occured to me ever since I had my pacemaker placed 2 years ago this month.  So I'm passing this info along as I think all of us with implantible devices should have a heads-up.  Sorry if it causes any undue stress, but I feel we all should be aware of any possibilities.

Can I return to work in the heating and cooling trade:

I work with oil burners with transformers, hand and table power tools, battery-powered lifts, generators, air conditioners, furnaces, etc.  I also do all my own work on my boat, truck and Harley.  Does anyone know if I can continue this work without getting shocked by my ICD?   What precautions need to be taken?  Is there any way to shield ourselves from the EMF?  I ordered an EMF meter but I'm not sure what levels of gauss is damaging to my ICD.  Anyone know...
