Magnetic back support

Hi - my mother who is 90 has a PM that she's had for the last two years.
Four weeks ago she developed excruciating back pain. She's on all sort of meds but little is helping.
I would love to get her a magnetic back support as anything is worth a try.
Having had a flick through previous messages it appears that the warning over magnets are overdone and to cover manufacturers of magnetic products.
Obviously the magnets would be on her lumbar region - not near the site of the PM...

Hybrid Cars

Hi there!

The Majo Clinic has recently presented a study on implanted cardiac devices and possible interferences with electric/hybrid cars. They used a Toyota Prius and patients with ICDs from three different manufacturers. It was concluded that device patients can safely drive/sit in a hybrid car. Researchers admitted, though, that more research needs to be done with different hybrid or electric cars. Here's an article on the study:

Bass in car?

My husband just got a new car and it has a huge Bass taking up half the trunk space if not more of a old cadillac so it's huge! He things its cool but a couple of times that he has turned it in I felt a little funny. Sometimes I get paranoid about my health so I'm not sure if I'm worried about seething or nothing. To me it feels like it just vibrates my chest so much that I don't like it but I'm not sure if its I'm scared its affecting the pacemaker or that it actually is. He never keeps it on...

rollercoasters?

In case you didn't notice I've been posting alot this past hour haha just had a couple of things causing me to become curious

When I got my ICD the technician said I wasn't allowed to go on rollercoasters. I'm pretty cool with this because I had just gone to a theme park and gone on almost every roller coaster just a few months before the implant. Anyway, I was wondering and didn't ask at the time, is this because of interferences, damaging the ICD because of the big belt that hits th...

Hibachi Grill

Forgive me if this has been discussed previously but I checked the search feature and found nothing. Tonight I went to a Japanese steak house with my family and when they turned on the hibachi grill I immediately began feeling horrible. I thought I was going to pass out and had a weird tingling sensation. As soon as we left I felt fine. Has anyone else had this issue?

Induction Hob

We have opened the box our new induction hob was delivered in and found the instruction manual.
It says people with pacemakers to refrain from using the equipment. I know my cooking is awful so can I tell the wife it's a no go area for me to use it or is the warning out of date and pacers have improved in that my new Boston of 6 months is insulated enough?

Monster Truck Racing

ugggh, Ok, I have had my pacemaker for a little over a year now and the other night I took my kids to the Monster Truck racing event and about half way through the event my chest started hurting but not bad enough to get up and leave. Since then I have had constant nagging pain, has anyone ever gone to one of these events and had the same problem? I can't imagine there would have been any electrical interferences but man this is uncomfortable and annoying.

bluetooth headset

I have a LG Bluetooth Stereo Headset. The device fits around my neck. The left end of the device lays below my neck very close to my PM. Each of the ends of the device is magnetized to hold the ear buds when not in use. Will the magnetized ends adversely affect my PM?

Wind Turbine Mechanic

Hello everyone. This is my first post on here. I am 39 years old and I received my St Jude pacemaker on December 18 of 2012, only a few weeks ago. I have had two open heart surgeries in my life, the latest one was 4 years ago to replace the mitral valve. My cardiologist said that the scar tissue from my previous surgeries is what started to interupt the electrical signals in my heart. I had an average heart rate of 43 two days before my surgery. It would drop below 30 several times at night alon...

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
