Airport Short xray wave scanners

When I go through the airport the TSA team tells me that I can go through the scanners without any side effects on my Medtronics Adapta. To which I reply 'The TSA site doesn't say that.' Do other pacemaker users go through the TSA metal detectors and Short wave scatter Xray screening machines?

It seems that the me that the TSA scatter xray machine picks up anomalies into the body where my PM is located. I would be pulled aside for hand check anyway.

Tens units

Hi, I am 39 and just received my 4th pacemaker in June. I had knee surgery and a left shoulder manipulation in October and want to use a Tens unit but everyone is afraid. The pacemaker is in the left also. I am having a hard time in physical therapy and I hoped to use it for some pain relief. Since it's new and an on demand pacemaker, shouldn't it be OK?

Query on Interferences

Hi Everyone,
I walked passed the apple store which just opened , enormous place and I had this unusual pain like whack on the left side where my pacemaker is.

All that separated me from the store was huge glass windows and lots and lots of computers .
After feeling a little funny not thinking anything , I kept walking and then thought that was strange and also I became a bit wobbly on the legs.
Even now at home I feel weak, tired like I was void of all energy.

Substation worker

Hello ,i have an aicd,defibulator medtronic. implanted on 10/14/2012 half my job duties require me to work in subsation yards with voltage up to 240K volts ,I do inspection, and operate switches , as well as racking in and out of breakers 26kv..
i am thinking of having the medtronic tech., meet with my job to walk the yards and work areas to see if the interferences from EM fields will have my device treating me when not needed. (is that a good ideal, or should i just go for it )

Testing for interference

I'm getting my pacemaker next week. If you want to find out whether a certain device interferes with the pacemaker, how safe is it to slowly get close to it?

Do pacemakers recover from interference.

From what I've seen of some messages at this site, the answer to the above 2 questions is YES.

Big UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply)

I'm getting a pacemaker next week. I work in computers. Our server room has a very large UPS (uninterrupted power supply), with at least 2 very large batteries. Has anyone heard of problems with UPSes and/or knows *how* to find out whether there is a problem? I realize that it depends on the type of PM & UPS, so I'm just asking for tips on how to check this out. I plan to talk to our UPS supplier tomorrow, but I'm not hopeful that he'll know.

Magnets

Could a magnet on a name tag cause interference for a pacemaker? I received a metal name tag tonight that I'm supposed to wear as an usher at a performing arts center. It stays together with a magnet that is supposed to go on either side of the lapel of a blazer. I looked at the device and it has 3 small magnets on the back of it. Do you think it would be unsafe to wear it for a few hours twice a month?

Subway and Train Pacemaker Problem

The subway and many electric trains give off magnetic interference that is off the charts. I noticed this recently when using my iPhone App for magnetic fields.

This has to be bad for those with pacemakers - yet I have not read a thing. I feel it though!

Working with a audio demagnetizer

I have a large studio Reel to Reel recorder and it needs to have its heads demagnetized now and then.
I don't have anyone else to do it for me and so I am trying to figure out if there is a safe way for me to do it.
The device is strong at the front where the tip is, so I was wondering about attaching the device to a 3 foot sturdy rod, so that the device would be at least 3-4 feet away from me at all times.

Hand held ticket scanner

Hello all. I work as a volunteer usher at a performing arts center. One of my duties is to scan patron's tickets using a hand-held ticket scanner. Does anyone know if the scanner will interfere with my pacemaker? I have a Boston Scientific Pacemaker.

I have an ESPRIT DR (Sorin) pacemaker which is implanted in 2009 and I want to buy the new Nokia Lumia 920 smartphone which supports wireless charging and wireless headphones.
