Need advice!

My dual lead Biotronik Pacemaker was implanted in January of 2010. I had an implanted Medtronic loop recorder for 18 months before the pacemaker to try to determine what my problem was. I had fainted a few times before this...and almost passed out several times (turning completely white - even my lips lost all color). I attempted to get answers on here before, but I didn't know how to explain my situation. My heart rate dropped to 30 at one point...I had a few pauses. Finally, it was decided...

There is a light!!!

Ok.... I went to my cardio today. I have only had one tachy episode since Feb 15th. My BP is good and I am off all meds. I go back in a month to double check everything and with any luck I’ll be on the 3 month monitoring schedule.

Here’s my story so maybe some of you will see there is a light at the end of the tunnel, you just have to push through the bad stuff first.

After a very long and trying 31/2 months things are starting to look up.

Blood pressure

I need some info.

I got my PM in Dec. Since then, they have put me on 1 Ace inhibitor, which they had to pull me off of because my bottom number kept going do in the 40's and I was feeling really bad.

They left me off of anything for a month but then I had 4 tackies so decided to try me on a beta blocker which caused me to feel bad all over. I didn't feel like I could breath and my heart seemed to be trying to work but it wasn't letting it.

I've been off everyt...

Ventricular Pacing

I had my pacemaker implanted in May 2010 due to tachycardia, afib, and bradychardia issues. Today I had my PM check and found it my ventricular pacing has increased from 45% to 52%. They seem somewhat concerned about this due to the possibility of it causing a-fib issues or even heart failure. After some reading I find this may be called "pacemaker syndrome". Anyone had experience with this? My PM checks never show any episodes, but there are times it doesn't feel like it's beating quite ri...

Query about interrigation copy

Hi,
I haven't posted in a while as most of the time everything is going well. I had an interrogation done last week. It showed that I will need a new PM in about 5 mths. I always ask for a copy of the report. This time it had the usual V.capture management (which is what is recorded at the last self test before the interrogation) graph. On it, where it shows a [+]Adapted it is not on the graph, but somewhere above the graph. Other times it has always been in the middle of the curve. Also,...

Questions about Merlin

I do not have a Merlin. MY Cardio only does office visit interrogations, so I get detailed results - positive & negative - every time I get downloaded.

I've read the two threads about the device in the last few days & am curious about exactly how much feedback you get. I get the impression that it's of the nature "...if there are any problems, you'll get called. If there are none you will not hear from the cardio."

I've found that to be an unreliable situation in the cas...

Typical?

Had my first Merlin telephone checkup today. This is 6 months post getting the PM. I'm wondering if this very quick and easy session was typical.
There was basically no conversation beyond "how are you doing", "fine", "are the bracelets on your wrist?", "yes", "push the ON button and sit still for a minute", "that's good, hold the magnet over your device, that's good, put your hands in your lap again", that's good", "if there's an issue someone will call you".
End of session..
Now...

recent visit

Hello Guys: So I had my follow up yesterday, doc is a bit stumped as to what the next step is , my heart rates are increasing and my BP is decreasing. I did a really stupid thing, thought though that may...just maybe a little activity would help, but I was wrong. I have these wonderful tilt in windows for cleaning, well I tried to clean one of them and it fell out on me and I am pretty bruised up so doc told me no more ladders and no more excertion for now. labs are pending

Rate Response and Atrial Fib

I have a pacemeaker and atrial fibulation. My cardiologist and I decided not to treat the afib as it was mild, had no impact on my daily living (hiker and backpacker)....but the Medtronic I have automatically (I am told) goes into rate response when it senses afib. Anyone out there who can confirm this? Ron

Don't understand

My PM doesn't keep its sleep mode. It's been set by my doctor twice, the nurses twice and this last week by a tech from Medtronic, but he made it worse. Now it's in an out of sleep mode, 50bpm, as if it were taking a nap. I've been asked if I'm near a magnet, which I'm not. It's tough to sleep with a PM that is changing all the time.

Has anyone here had a similar experience? I would appreciate hearing from you. Right now I feel like an odd man out vis-a-vis my PM. Maybe your ex...

event monitor

Hello friends, just wondering if anyone has worn an event monitor? I went in for my check up and came home with an event monitor.  I have to wear it for 30 days. I have worn heart monitors before but not this type. Dr discussed stronger meds or possibly an ablation. I have had 4 already.

Just Info

First - to the moderator - is there a way to get rid of that anoying grey stripe down the middle of the page?
Now- Had my PM checkup a few days ago - it recorded 7500 events in the loast 6 months, none over a minute long! I feel some, but not all - mostly at night. Doc says that if I can tolerate that he will not change anything. They did turn on the motion detector that kicks the rate to 80 if I move much. So far I see no real effect.
A year ago I had an AV node ablation, so my HR do...

Breathless--tired

PM inserted Aug 2010. For past 2 months have experienced periodic breathless--with minor/no exertion. Am also experiencing tiredness. Cardiologist thinks that pm "ramping" settings may need to be adjusted. What are ramping settings? Any other thoughts to share with Medtronic rep during visit next month?
Thanks.

Pacemaker sleep rate

Hello to all, My pacemaker, which I’ve had for about a year, has a sleep rate, as I guess most others have, and it is set at 50bpm, from 3AM to 11AM. Strange hours, but not for me because I do my best reading and film watching till about 2 or 3 in the morning. Of course you know I’m old and retired, but I try to stay young at heart. But my pacemaker is not helping: it will not keep the settings for sleep time and keeps changing on its own. I had it adjusted at least five times in the...

Medtronic Enrhythm P1501DR

Hi all,

I'm about ten weeks out from aortic valve replacement where I got the Medtronics Enrhythm pacer thrown in as a little Christmas surprise due to heart block. Anyway, at about 6 weeks my cardiologist gave me the all clear to start rehab and even start running when I felt up to it. I knew nothing about the pacer at that time and asked if this was all seamless as I started running my increased heartrate would just follow. He says no problem. After a little research on my own,...
