My EP has suggested a tilt table test before ablation. He wants to be sure that the tachycardia is cardiac driven not blood pressure. Has anyone had a tilt table test? I would sure appreciate any input. Sorry if this is a duplicate posting for some reason when I posted the first it went into outer space.
Thanks,
Margaret

I developed symptoms, shortness of breath, fatigue, and synocope(s) while on a trip to Italy. This was my first experience of symptoms. Otherwise being a health 55 year old man, who exercised regularly, and has normal BP and HR.
I was diagnosed with SSS and received my PM three weeks ago. I returned to work, and have expereinced some of the
symptoms, pre PM implant,(ie., shortness of breath, and pronounced heart beats after modest activity, after walking up stairs). The symptoms...

Hi everyone. To continue my story from my previous posts,it is now only 10 days to go until my EP study & sinus node modification ablation procedure, which carries a pacemaker risk....& now I'm starting to panic!!!
Can anyone tell me if, when they do the modification, if they then decide I need a pacemaker as they have ablated too much ( the EP said it can be difficult to ablate exactly the right amount), would they put the pacemaker in straight away or would I have to go home & then...

I had my (2nd) Pace Maker since Feb 2008. I began feeling a 2 to 3 second vibration around the PM area. At first I thought it wasn't coming from the PM but now I feel it is. All I feel is a vibration and nothing else. No pain, etc. Is there anyone who has experienced this problem? What was the problem and how was the it resolved? I made an appt to see my cardiologist and the individual who checks my PM out in 5 days. My cardiologist says he feels it isn't "urgent" to see me immediately so theref...

Earlier today, I had an MRI even tho I have a pacemaker. Yes, it can now be done (on a limited basis)! Here's how it went:
There are only three hospitals in the country that do MRI's on people with PMs. I went to Mayo, the nurse told me the other two are out east but she didn't mention them by name. There are two criteria required to do this:
1. Not be pacemaker dependent and
2. not have an ICD.
If you meet those two criteria, you can be imaged.
Prior to th...

At three months plus I am still having a painful pm site and just wondering if this is the usual. It bothers me many times a day. It is hard to describe what is going on . I have tried the pain pills they gave me at the hospital, asprin, tylenol and the such and no relief. I wonder if anyone has ever had massage therrpy and if it helped at all. Or has anyone had any other methods that helped to relieve the irritation that seems to go on every day for me. I would appreciate the help. Thank y...

After a recent long episode of AF terminated by electrical cardioversion, I was wondering about the prospect of asking my doctor to prescribed 'flecainide' which I could take in the event of a repeat episode to try to terminate AF early rather than go to hospital.
Only problem I have is that certain anti arrithymic drugs (Digoxin, Sotalol) actually bring on AF.
Any views?
Finally able to update.

Well hello friends! After my week long hospital stay and finally getting enough energy to get on the computer and type more. I am very curious to know how many people have had a similar type of blood clot that I have.
I have what is called svc syndrome. I had a 99.9% blockage they got most of it and now i'm on blood thinners. I spent four days in ICU and 3 days on the regular floor.
I still have some fluid on my chest. I also experience blood in my heart sac. I didn't realize...

I am now in month three. Still am bothered with arm and at incision site aches and pains. Asprin does not touch the pain. At incision site sometimes I feel like I am a voodo doll and I am being stuck with pins. It also feels kind of numb on the lower side and sometimes also aches. I am just wondering if anyone else has had this feeling . This site is the greatest place because because we can chat with others who have had the same surgery and I don not know anyone in my circle of friends who...

Hi,
I have had a pacemaker now for 7 years due to a very slow (37) and arrythmic heart rate. I also had pauses of 4 secs. I saw my cardiologist two years previous to this and he told me nothing was wrong. |The same cardiologist implanted my pacemaker. I have had no problems since then. However, I am a little concerned that I am not being 'followed' up other than at the once a year pacer check and all they say is that the pacer is working properly. If I do mention a problem - I am told t...

I joined your club even though I do not have a pacemaker yet--hoping someone could provide some insight. I have PVC's often and low heart rate often and my cardiologist keeps talking about a pacemaker. I don't often feel the PVC's anymore and my only symptom is fatigue. He infers that I will know when I need one although he originally brought up the topic a year ago when my heart rate was 37. I always thought the doctor would tell me when it was necessary. i certainly don't want to jump int...

Hello, all...been a while since I posted, but just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on what happened to me yesterday. I went to work and had a headache. I asked a nurse at work to check my BP, and it was 138/102. She gave me half an aspirin and rechecked the BP in about an hour. It was 142/106. Checked again later, it was 150/110. Anyhow, my BP is usually low or drops (I have orthostatic hypotension), so a trip to the ER was next. At the ER, my BP jumped to 206/138, and then slowl...

I am 24 years old and have been living with Neurocardiogenic Syncope for 17 years. I had my pacemaker implanted 9 months ago to address asystole during episodes. I consume gatorade daily to alleviate symptoms. During a recent episode in the last week, my doctor recommended that half of my fluid consumption should consist of gatorade to raise my blood pressure. I am consuming roughly 3-4 liters of fluid daily and I am not taking any medications at this time. The gatorade is helping, but I am a li...

I am a newbie and I do not have a pacemaker, but I have a feeling I'll be joining the club pretty soon!! I want to start off by saying that I am 22 and I have been having problems for a little over a year now. I was diagnosed with POTS and IST last June when I started passing out all over the place. I have always been in a sinus tachycardia or SVT. The SVT got pretty bad and I had a SA ablation last August which did wonders for three months and the lovely SVT came back. Starting around October I...

My cardiologist has ordered a MIBI test for me due to some dizzy spells and occasional chest pain. I'm a little nervous about this one and would like to hear from others who have had a MIBI done. I'd like to know what to expect and what complications can arise.
I don't contribute often to the site but read the posts every day and enjoy hearing about how all of you are doing.
Thank you,
Nuka

I have DCM and on my paperwork, I just noticed it says: Cardiomyopathy, Idiopathic; CHF, Systolic Heart Failure, Chronic and Mitral Regurgitation, non-rheumatic. I've had ICD implant. In simple terms, what else do I have lurking in there besides the DCM???

I just found the coolest website entirely about Ablations- both radiofrequency and cryo-ablation, for every reason known to man as to why ablations are performed and everything else about them.
I've had 5 of them both with radofrequency and cryo for every reason they list on this website. I wish I had found this when I was having all of them done.
Top notch website designed solely for ablations. WOW....
If you've been through them, are about to have one, or know someone who...

I am having insomnia for almost six years now. I decided last year to have a pacemaker because my heart rate was also low. Nine months after my pacemaker has been inserted, I continue to suffer for my insomnia. I am so worry that my current insomnia will reduce my pacemaker lifetime, as I am always awake, and tired (due to lack of sleep). Please any advice to recomfort me. I exercise every day at least for 45 minutes
Thanks
