Pacemaker Site

Is it possible for the area where the pacemaker is to feel like it is larger than it was a month ago. Surgery was on 2/4/10 and this past week I feel as though the pacemaker seems larger. I have appointment on 5/19 for my three month checkup and will definitely ask the surgeon, but was just curious. I am thinking that possibly scar tissue is forming around the pacemaker itself making it feel larger. I have no swelling on outside.

Thanks for any info on this subject. Hope everyone is d...

AV ablation

I have ectopic atrial tachycardia. Originally they thought it was a problem with the SA node so there was talk of doing an SA node ablation with pm implant. Now they know its not the SA node and I will be going for a consult to do anther EP study with probable ablation. I have already been told by my cardiologist that in my case an ablation in the atria will probably be extremely hard and risky if it is even possible. From the research I have done, in the event that they can't ablate the abnor...

Labored breathing

I have had my pacemaker since March 24th and overall feel the best I have felt in two years. I have more energy, am able to do yard work, etc. We are still in the tweaking stages of getting everything just right. The doc made a tweak on it yesterday because I told him that I sometimes get a little winded just walking from the living room to the bedroom or from my truck to my office but I can work like a madman in the yard with no problem. Now, after the tweak to a setting, I have felt all da...

Pacemaker Affecting Medication

Is it possible that having a pacemaker is affecting my pain medication? I have been on the same pain pills for many years for my fibromyalgia. Now I seem to get a little lightheaded/dizzy whenever I take it.

"SPARKY"

Hello All,

Have had a-fib for about six weeks. It seems to be the persistent version. Will be having a Cardioversion wed @ 7am after an esophogeal echo. Current meds include warafin,100mg atenolol, 300mg flecinide... Strong, but we hoped to restore the sinus rhythm.. It is a little scary to think you will be jump started. Has anyone had the pleasure of this procedure? Has anyone had any luck restoring with natural means. I've thought @"static electricity" but am not sure how to...

Chemical Stress Test

Hi,
I am a 100% pacemaker dependent. Tomorrow I am having a chemical stress test. I think it is called a Dual Iso Adenos stress test.
Does anyone have any information on this test? What happens during the test? What is the purpose for this test? I had received a call with the date and time and some information on what to do 4 hours before test and that was all.
Thank-you
Dool

Just wondering

Had pacemaker for 2nd degree heart block extending to 3rd degree. Much reading since after very little information from doctors. What I do not understand is if idiopathic heart block is an autoimmune disease why isnt it treated with corticosteroids, if its viral, antivirals and antibiotics. None of these things were tried before the pacemaker was put in. Looking back it seems to me the block was going from 2nd degree to 3rd degree on my admission to hospital, that is the process was actually oc...

coronary artery spasm

I've had a pacemaker for 14 1/2 years and was recently diagnosed with coronary artery spasms. I had been having angina for a few years and was getting more frequent. I am now on a calcium channel blocker and no more angina epidsodes, except when I am really tired. Has anyone else had this?

Sinus Tachicardia

Hi,
I am new to this site and joined because I need advice. I live in Windhoek, Namibia, we do not have cardiologists here and have to get various referrals in order to get an appointment in with one in South Africa and it normally takes months to get such an appointment.

I have been suffering from sinus tachicardia since I was a child, but was only diagnosed properly about 10 years ago ... I am now 37 years old. I also have slighly low blood pressure as a rule, taking the beta b...

Finding a doc that will listen

Hello. I hope someone will give me some insight. I have sick sinus syndrome - tachy-bradycardia. I have a dual chamber pacemaker. I want to find a doctor who will listen to me and explain things to me. But It's such a hassle going through that process. And how do you fire a doctor? Or do you just not go back? But then I have the pacemaker box that I send in my reports through. I read here about how someone calls and tells you what the report indicated or that a doctor actually sits down...

25 pound limitation after surgery

When I was released from the hospital, I was given a sheet, "No lifting arm over shoulder for 6 weeks" and "No lifting over 25 pounds for 2 weeks".

Today is 3 weeks, and when I spoke to the nurse, she said that she doesn't think I should lift over 25 pounds. My son is about 40 pounds, and I need to lift him sometimes.

Anyone been given this statement, I am going to reach to the doctor tomorrow, but I was wondering if there is any sage advise out there

Nerve injury

Nerve injury is a rare complication, but wondering if anyone else has had any troubles? Duing the implant, my physician perforated prior to entering my heart, pulled the lead back and tracked down the same path again. After a slightly longer than usual procedure than expected I was left with a chronic pain syndrome. I am doing well from a cardiac persective and I have rather good contol of the pain.

Newbie Discouraged

Greetings, all! I spent a few hours yesterday perusing this forum and decided to join. I'm discouraged and confused.

I've had afib and tachycardia for most of the last 20 years. It came to a head with CHF in December 2005. I came out of the hospital with lots of drugs.

It came back with a vengeance in January 2006, and the VA did a radio frequency ablation on me. I felt great for about a month, and the afib/tachy came back again. I went back in for another ablation,...

PVC's

For some of you who have been concerned about having PVC's I thought this might help.

On my checkup today I show 248,508 PVC singles and 44,497 runs in the last 3 months. That works out to be about 2500 singles per day and 450 runs/day. Neither the Medtronics rep or the cardiologist were concerned about that level of them as long as they aren't causing my any problems.

This is important because the treatments for them such as meds or ablations have the potential of creating...

ICD shocked?

I am a new patient to an ICD, and I have read some horror stories out there, and was wondering if anyone can share with me, if they were shocked. I am told that it feels like a horse kicked you, not that one has ever kicked me.

But I am more worried, on where it will happen, and how the people around me will react, during a meeting or in church. Is it embarrassing? I am more worried about that.

TIA

Seeking advise for Mother worried....

Hello everyone!! What a wonderful forum! Thanks for your time and energy!

I will try and make this as short as possible. I am very worried about my Mother. I'll try and make a long story short. She is 82 years young and up until 6 months ago a very, active independant woman.

6 Months ago she was DX with afid then 4 months ago began breaking vertabra in her back. Ended up with 7 vertbroplasties. During these painful 4 months her a fib went wild and she became intorlerant of...

Bisoprolol

Hi everyone,

I had a 24 hour monitor about 3 weeks ago, because I have been having episodes of tachycardia. Then when I went to see my GP about something different on Thursday, he told me that my cardiologist had sent him a letter asking him to prescribe me bisoprolol. Stupidly, because my mind was occupied with the other matter, I didn't ask to think WHY I'd been prescribed it - when I got home and read the leaflet it said it's for heart failure and angina, but I'm pretty sure I don...
