Statin drugs

Got the push on statin drugs by Cardio. In fact he gave me 6 weeks of free samples(10 mgs) Way to strong for me, ankles swelling, fog, dizzy, chest pains................Crestar is the strongest of the six brands. Any advice on the different brands available?? My cholest. is 202 and hdl and ldl are good to normal with the triglycides very low @45. I would like to start at a very low dose and work up. I brought my cholestrol down from 280 with red wine vinegar and unprocessed bran on my oat...

Low blood platelets

I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with low blood platelets? Could this be caused from lack of proper blood flow through out my body? Once I get my pacemaker I was wondering if that will help my body produce them better. They couldn't do my surgery yesterday because my platelet count was too low. The hematologist gave me prednizon- dont know how to spell it lol but has any one else taken this steroid? I was also wondering what a typical base-line for the pacemaker could be. For exam...

Atenolol

Does anyone have any experience with Atenolol 25mg for tachacardia?

Took my first pill today, felt a little tired but I was really trying to take it easy so not really sure if I was in lazy mode all day or if it was the meds.

I took a nap and had some crazy wild dreams. Not sure if that was the med though.

It must be working because I have been running "slower" all day.
Thanks,
Wendy

Need some input

My doctors visit today may have taken me 10 steps back! I thought I was threw with the nerves....but they are in full swing now.

I went back to the EP today. She checked my recordings. It said I was in the 140's from 10am-2pm. I felt fine! I was just running around at school etc. Then at 2 I rested in my daughter. The RHR went down. Then she said it went back up to the 140's from 3-4:30. Again, I was just running around getting the house ready for a babysitter etc.

Her gut...

CardioRhythm and CardioCare

Has anybody tried this product and were there any changes or was it a waste of money. It would be nice to find some natural substance or over the counter product for Atrial Fibulation instead of going broke from using the way too expensive prescription medication.

Amiodarone and lungs

Hey there,

I was wondering if anyone here has had problems with Amiodarone and pulmonary function. I have been taking Amiodarone almost a year now, and am down to 600mg/week. On Tuesday I had my lungs checked, and the "diffusion capacity" (lungs ability to transfer gases) was 48% only; everything below 50% means it's highly restricted. This capacity is the parameter that can change when you are on Amiodarone. Normally, you have to stop the medication right away when there is a decreas...

Heart Block 3 + PVCs = Rythmol?

I am wondering if anyone has experience adjusting to Rythmol (Propafenone HCL) to control PVCs? I was started on Rythmol seven (7) weeks after my PM was installed. The Cardio stated that I must control the PVCs with this Rx or imminent death may occur. I started slowly to let my system get used to it. I have been gradually increasing my dosage but now I'm wondering - maybe someone with experience can give me a better understanding and hope?

Resting Heart Rate

I went to bed last night with a resting heart rate of about 114. This is high for me. I'm usually in the 60's.

Woke up this morning and was in the same range. Sometimes even in the 120's. No pain, just panic and fear setting in becuase the RHR was so high.

I came to school and ended up having stomach issues and a full blown panic attack due to the fear. Think I'm ok now, but RHR still in the 80's.

Any ideas???? And at what RHR does it become dangerous slash hear...

NICE doesn't recommend Dronedarone for AF

Hey there,

an info for those of you who live in the UK:
the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence has recently published its "Appraisal Consultation Document" for the use of Dronedarone to treat patients with atrial fibrillation.

The conclusion is: "The evidence provided to the independent appraisal committee indicates that dronedarone is less effective and costs considerably more than existing treatments for controlling atrial fibrillation. Having ful...

an update... verapamil??

Well so I ventured into the cardiologist office today. Interesting visit to say the least. We talked about many things including my recent issues. After much discussion and debate we did increase my upper rate to 125. We debated turning the rate response back on but both decided we didnt want that. We stopped my midodrine (suppose to help me not pass out when I stand up) because my blood pressure has been high, so this ought to be interesting to say the least. I told him about my high bloo...

PM not adjusted right? Or?

Hi... I just wanted to ask I have had my PM since Oct 09
and once in awhile I still get the short of breath business
I have had my PM read over the phone and in person
and they say all is well... however I am wondering if I need to have the PM interrogated again? Dual PM for low pulse is why I had to get one of these....other then that I am good to go
so just wondered if anyone had SOB and had the PM adjusted for that? I am not on any meds and only take vitamins.
any...

Looking for those that similar to me...

Who out there has atria problems, has had an av node ablation making them pacemaker dependent. TraceyE I think we are "sisters". I want to have some discussions about how you feel afterwards, mode you are in, and meds you are taking.

For me I am feeling miserable. I can feel it when my atrial rate goes over my set rate which then puts you into essentially a 2:1 block. I get short of breath the moment this starts. I can make it up a flight of stairs and then have to sit down....

Pacemaker/angina

Thank you to Cabbage Patch f or your response. I have had all the gastric tests, including a 24 hour ph manometry which showed everything to be normal. Therefore my Cardiologist says carry on as usual, but if I have a bad attack of Angina to drive 43 miles to his Hospital to be checked!!!!!!! Sorry I prefer immediate treatment at our local hospital ,if I am that sick. I have been admitted twice for severe Angina (Variant) but seem to do very well using Calcium channel Blockers.
Thanks...

effexor

I started effexor over a month ago. I started off on 75 mg while I weaned off of my other antidepressant. 2 weeks ago I went up to 150mg. THe past few days I have noticed my blood pressure going up. Today I have the most outrageous headache and my blood pressure is 160/100. The doctor said only about 2% of people develope high blood pressure from this med. I do have a history of high blood pressure but been quite controlled. Anyone had similar response? I did NOT want to go on the medica...

Vitamins etc...

As some of you know I've been having what they are telling me are PAC's on a daily basis. They told me they are harmless. They started after the PM...I never had them before it. A few an hour on some days....they make me jump a little as they startle me.

The other day I started taking vitamins again...just a regular daily vitamin and a Folic acid tablet. I've noticed the PAC's are down to only 1 or 2 per day!!!!!!!

Is this because of the vitamins? A coincidence? Or am I psy...
