OOHHH realy scarry report from cardiologist but I am really not sure what it means for my health and welfare. The report said it transverses the left ventrical cavity. Seems like there are two shrinky-dink spots in my heart wall that are no longer living. I believe my heart is committing suicide without my permission. He seems to think this is what is causing my rythum problems. Does anyone know what this means? He is suggesting I go to Mayo clinic in Minn. for possible ablation. I am rea...

I had my PM implanted almost seven weeks age. I have a lot of hair on my chest and it was shaved off prior to surgery. The EP made a very clean incision and sewed it up nicely. During the past several days, small little lumps have been developing along that nice incision and I suspect the hair that was tucked under the skin may be trying to erupt to the surface. Have any of the male club members had a similar problem? Does the hair work to the surface without causing a problem or does the lump...

Like some of you this is all new to me also. I would like to know if anyone else deals with the same issues. The past two years they thought I was having seizures because of an abnormal EEG and I could not wake up in the mornings. After a 7 day sleep deprived EEG they found that my heart rate and blood pressure drops to low and explained that the communication between my brain and my heart doesn't work at times. The EP Doctor said I need a pace maker. I failed the Echo Stress Test but the H...

MRI is currently contraindicated in patients with pacemakers and ICDs due to a variety of safety concerns related to potential adverse effects on the device from the strong magnetic and radiofrequency forces generated during the scan. These include the possibility of erratic and inappropriate device functioning during (or after) the scan, over-sensing that can cause high rate pacing or thermal damage to the device, and induced voltages on leads that can cause over- and under-sensing. Moreover, c...

Hi All.
It's been a long time since I've posted but have been reading with interest. I had a dual chamber Medtronic P.M. implanted in 2004 to help me cope with SSS caused by medications for A-Fib. Although recovery was slow all has gone well until the last 2 or 3 months. I have been experiencing a feeling that I am going to pass out along with what the Pacemaker Clinic is calling PVC's. My cardio. prescribed Warfarin and has gone on holidays for a month. (which by the way he has every righ...

I'm curious if anyone could help me understand something. I recently put up a post "Told I need a pacemaker" and I am scheduled to see an EP specialist on Tuesday 17th. I was told on the 4th of april that I need a pacemaker.
Since then I have completely stopped any physical activity, of which i used to do at least 5 days a week. Since then I have not felt any dropped heart beats, feel much more rested after a nights sleep and just feel overall mentally better.
My confusion...

Today marks the end of my fifth week with a PM. For some reason my left arm bicep really aches this evening. I may have done more than I realize, using it more than I realized. I've been feeling so great - now this. I noticed when I took my siesta this afternoon that I had actually, for the first time, rolled over to my right side. I don't think I affected the leads, my pulse continues to beat at 80 ppm. Has anyone ever had this kind of ache develop in a bicep??? Surferman

I'm scheduled for an ablation on May 23. I have at least three bad electric circuits in my heart that are causing me to go in and out of atrial flutter. I'm told this problem is common for adult congenial patients who had surgeries as a child. From what I've read and have been told by my doctors is that the success rate for such a procedure is high. I hope so! I want to get back to feeling "normal" and off my blood thinners or should I say rat poison.

$6Mman asked about Hashimoto's & problems with lab tests.I was unable to post until now because I wasn't recognized, but I have a comment. If you have Hash, it is not good enough to rely upon the TSH value when determining exogenous levothyroid.Hash is a condition in which the body itself destroys the circulating levothyroid. Therefore, the appropriate blood tests should focus on the amount of thyroid hormone actually circulating in the blood. To do this, you must be tested for Free T3 and Free...

I was in perfect health until I started taking Lipitor. I have been an avid runner for 30 years and days after taking Lipitor I couldn't run one block. I only took it for 2 weeks and stopped. One month later I was in the hospital with a double block and had to have a pacemaker installed. Has anyone else had problems with Lipitor or other statin drugs?

I am to go into hospital on 4/02 to begin either sotolol or tikosyn. I have had a idc for many years for v-fib Now cardo wants me to start one of these meds. I had not had any shocks for 8 years but had one in nov. 06 and one 2 weeks ago. I am so tired each day and if I have to take any more meds that slow me down I will look like a female Budda Hope someone is awake out there. I live in rural area and have never had anyone to talk to about having icd. I DON'T WANT TO GET SHOCKED AGAIN WHI...

Hi,
My first post. I have a Medtronic ICD because of several episodes of fast VT starting in 2002. I had a second ablation in May last year which made a huge improvement. However since January I have had about eight episodes of slow VT (105 bpm) which have lasted 1 1/2 hours on average and rectified themselves. The strange thing is all these episodes have occurred between 15:00 and 20:00 hours. Some before a meal some after food.
Any comments or similar experiences would be appreciated...

Hey people! I have two questions for y'all out there. With all the PM's, who has a defibrillator and what are your parameters? Second - Heart disease a primary issue for most. Mine was a dilated cardiomyopathy and becoming more of an issue these days is hypothyroidism (and last week they gave it a name - Hashimoto's) Last year my TSH was 16.5 and seemed to come under control within 8 - 9 months. Not quite so the endocrinologist raised the medication dosage and with that the TSH went up; T...

Hello my friends,
I'm feeling better each day. My meds. have changed alittle and I'm feeling better. I'm now taking Norvasc 5 mg and it really seem to be working. Just the other day I was telling my kids on how some people go to heaven alittle early because the lord likes to have different people with him. I really felt my life was coming to an end. I prepared my kids to understand if daddy is not on this earth I'm in heaven so be happy and thank the Lord for having another pla...
