Still here and still hanging on (literally)

Hi Everyone,
First off, Merry Christmas to all! I'm sorry I'm so late with that, but it has been crazy here. Yep, I'm still here and still nothing hasa changed. OK, some things have changed, but not for good and I really don't know if I want to share. I'm just feeling kinda down and frustrated with everything and ready to leave and go home. Thought I would be home by now, but after Thursday, nope. Not going into much detail, but for those of you interested, you can send me a personal email...

Waves of exhaustion followed by med-incompetence

re: episodes of extreme fatigue?
Been experimenting with things: Doctors have given up or stonewalled my problems - even told me to go to the hospital.

Been eating a lot of small and healthy meals - like soy milk, apple, good nutrition cereal bars, steamed vegetables, turkey, chicken - seems in small meals my stomach pains / pangs lessen, my shakiness declines even goes away, the eratic beat settles down. What exasperates these things is getting chilled, so I dress like an eski...

New here.

Hi, just found the site.
I had a P/M implanted 3 weeks ago. Bradycardia and I kept passing out. Average heart rate was 46 bpm.
I'm a mailman and I tried to go back to work this week.
Didn't go as well as I would have liked for it to. I got weak and a bad case of the shakes. I'm pretty sensitive to the P/M and I felt it take off several times. Some mild chest pain and I was just not comfortable.
I called my Dr and I was told to stop working and come see him. I called out f...

Lack of sleep

Hi all,

I have now had the pacemaker for about 12 months and this was a result of low pulse rate and regular blackouts. Overall it seems to be making a significant difference and whilst I maintain fluid intake and medication I am managing OK. However I am having serious problems with lack of sleep. I keep very active and cycle between 200 and 300 kilometres per week and work in a very stressfull management job in child protection. I have no doubt the work situation does not help but I...

tattoo, chest poking out, please answer

i am rob, i am a white 24 year old male, i drink beers on weekend and go out in DC regularly, as i am from falls church Virginia and live here now. i am not as much of a drinker as much as i like to smoke the dank pot, i am sorry to offend people who disagree with this but for anyone who has an open mind and can differentiate between reefer and hardcore drugs. will the marijuana affect your boys heart/pacemaker? i feel like i will end up with a box poking out of my chest and no girl will want to...

new here, question

I have just been informed that I will be having a pacemaker put in. I am a 24 year old male. I am worried about obvious things like the procedure and other medical things, but I am also worried that it will show when I have no shirt on or a collar not buttoned up. I am 6 feet 1 and only 170 pounds so you can almost see my chest bones! Will it be obnoxious and really visible? Also I have a tattoo on my right peck, will they have to cut through it?

Amazed

I just received a card in the mail from an old co-worker. She stated that she was so inspired by how up beat I was after having a pacemaker put in at 25 and that it has really helped her get through after dealing with the loss of her husband. He struggled with cancer for the entire time I knew her. I realized that she must have never known that the reason I stayed so upbeat when I returned to work is becuase what I was dealing with was nothing compared to her situation. She no longer works f...

Nothing has changed

Hi everyone,
It is getting harder and harder to stay upbeat(sorry Tammy). I'm still here in the ICU and although no more fluid around my heart, the fluid around my lungs isn't going away and now my hands and feet are very swollen along with my right leg. They had another specialist come in yesterday who deals with the lymphatic system since they think it might be a problem with that and he ordered a whole bunch of bloodwork (thank you porta cath) and it showed that my thyroid is functioning...

I got shocked today :(

Well I don’t post much but lerk around. Well I was about to do some computer work today and I was talking to another tech and thank god I was sitting in a chair, and i was shocked. It was my first time. I woke up wondering why he was asking me if I was ok. Well I rested at work for little over an hour, called the cardio pace doc. They told me to send in the info and it came back as my heart was back to normal , and if it happens again in 24 hrs, I would need to go to the ER. I am at home,...

new pacemaker owner

I am confused about what happens at checkups. I just got my pm on Dec. 6 and am still adjusting to it, and waiting for the incision to heal. Has anyone tried the product that protects the site of the incision from bra straps. I have yet to put on a bra because I think it is going to rub. Any information about adjusting to my new way of life will be welcome.

Just an update

Hi everyone,
I'm still here in the hospital. I was moved back to the ICU I think on Friday and I am in acute chf due to what they think is an infection which has left my heart enlarged which is pressing on my lungs which is causing the build up of fluid. They have a biopsy of my lung(s) scheduled for Monday and hopefully they will know more then. As of tonight they are now telling me that there is some fluid aroud my heart and they might have to put a needle in to take off the fluid (sorry...

Change of plans

Hi Everyone,
Kinda hoping that when I wrote you next it would eb from home, but the plans have changed. As of yesterday I am back in congestive heart failure and the plans of going home are out. I'm really upset and frustrated and annoyed by all of this and am very disappointed. Trying to cope with this and thought I would by past going into heart failure considering the fact that the heart stuff is corrected, but the cardiologist told me yesterday that this means on Monday we need to do mo...

lack of energy

Hi all,
I had a complete AV node ablation and now pace at 100% of the time with 2 leads. Before the surgery I was on 3 different heart pills and now do not take any. I had the first pacemaker in august this year, developed pacemaker syndrome so had to have a whole new system with 2 leads put in instead of one. Since this has been done I am so tired and have very little energy. Is it normal to feel like this after having AV mode ablated as I feel worse at times now than before?
Many tha...
