I've only had my pacemaker for about two months now. I am only 25 and I've been having problems for about 2years now. I went in for an ablation and during the procedure they paralyzed my diaphragm causing me to have problems breathing. I had my pacemaker implanted a week later and haven't felt well since. I struggle to breathe, i can feel and see my pulse in my neck, and feel weak. I have been to the cardiologist so many times in the last two months that Im on a first name basis with the re...

Hang in There

Just wanted to thank those of you that responded to me and hope everyone is still alive (lol). Trust me Zanax works for those that are having a difficult time. Don’t get hooked on it, but I take one mg a day and sometimes break it in half, one during the day and one before I go to sleep. It helps sleeping also. Hang in there guys. It could be worse. I have a 19 year old nephew that is in his third bout with a rare childhood cancer and it doesn’t look good. I think of him constantly....

USA, Georgia, South, PM for 38 years

I have had 9 PMs, 2 open heart surgery procedures, and several other things done throughout 40 years of life. I am looking for other PM patients, BOTH young and old to carry on live video chats with. I use a service called oovoo.com and would like to carry on live chats, update you on MY upcoming surgery, and just meet people around my age or YOUNGER that would love to ask questions, compare PM related problems. If YOU are interested in live VIDEO CHAT just look me up as repwork. Thanks and...

Other

Has anyone else had trouble getting close to others with you pacemaker or ICD? I find myself quite distant lately and I'm just not sure how to get over that barrier. Any advice would be appreciated.

sensations, squeezing, talking

I have had a pacemaker now for 3 weeks. It almost seemed the chest sensations were getting better but yesterday they got worse. I can't lay down in bed because of the sensation in my chest that feels like little jolts or hard heart beats. When I talk now, I feel short of breath and get a squeezing sensation in my chest. I also feel like coughing when this happens. The only two people I know who have pacemakers are long time uses of PMs and have never had sensations of any kind.
It is s...

Steroids causing fluid.

I have an issue, as many of you that do know me, I have to take steroids every day to stay stable. Well between my SVC Syndrome and adrenal gland failure. I have been swelling up again. I gained a good amount of weight in a couple of days.
The Dr continues to tell me to take my lasix. I just got it increased to every day. Which before I was just taking it when I felt like I needed it. I hate lasix. Any of you that take it, how do you handle taking it all the time?
Well over the w...

Will I ever feel normal again?

I had my PM implanted June of 2010. I am having a horrible time adjusting to it. My heart beats out of my chest....I am weak all the time and my pulse rate is all over the place. I had another MI 2 weeks ago....fortunately no damage.
@ days ago I fainted 2 times and my B?P was all over the place.....very dizzy and horrible pressure in my head. My husband called 911 and at the ER all the blood tests and my ekg were normal. The St. Jude rep came and did a test....said my PM was functioning...

bad day

Good morning. I am having what the doctor simply calls an expected bad day. Couldn't sleep much last night as the pacemaker going off kept waking me each time I dozed. Couldn't get comfortable due to the pain and the sling. Only 3 more weeks of sleeping with the sling and hopefully by then more of the pain will have subsided. Today makes week 4 since I received my pacemaker.

Doctor says the bad days are caused by how much the pacemaker actually goes off because the voltage is set...

Terrified

Ok, so I finally called the doctor about the EMF sensitivity. The nurse only half listened to what I was telling her and said she would call me back. She called back and stated the doctor said he has never ever heard of such a thing. I once again reiterated that I am completely fine when I avoid the things I have found to "zap" me. She said the doctor wants me to come in so they can re-create these situations to find out what is going on. I asked her if she understood that it was painful wh...

Anxiety.......grrrrrrrrrr

I had my pacemaker implanted just bout 9 days ago and the assciated anxiety that runs thru your mind is so hard. When I read many of the posts here I see a variety of thoughts on their doctors, how they feel good or bad, how they can lift weights or not and so on and so on. I feel like running and running and running to disapate the unknowns of what is to come. I tried so hard all my life to eat healthy, think healthy, and exersize and stay in top shape and then I am told I have LBBB and com...

Pacemaker v marriage

I think my recent brush with death and having my ICD implanted is ultimately going to cost me my marriage.
I am on my own (3 weeks post surgery) all day every day as my husband and daughter work full time and of course do all my friends. My friends have been a constant source if support to me visiting regularly but said husband and daughter want restrictions on visiting. My friends and relations constantly phone me when they get home from work but again restrictions are being talked about....

Hey Everyone

Hope you all have been having good days. Been having a lot of pain lately and have found it nearly impossible to sleep because of arrhythmias. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. Not sure what to do about it anymore. Basically, found that I'm almost always miserable and nothing really makes me happy anymore. Only 20 years old and don't know how long I can keep this up. Chronic fear of being electrocuted by my ICD/Pacemaker has me at wits end. Just don't know what to do anymore.

35 yr old mother of 3

It all began in 2005. I blacked out while standing in my kitchen. A few months later, my mother passed away and since then, I have been sick. A few months after my mother died, I began having seizures and blacking out. Several MRI's and CT Scans later, I was told that I had MS. After subsequent MRI's 6 mos later, I was told that I didn't have MS.

Doctor after Doctor and no diagnosis. Years of depression, continuing loss of motor skills and other problems, led me to near suicide....

EMF anxiety

Greeting to everyone and I hope I find some comfort in finding and joining this website. I fainted on September 23, 2010 in my friend's car. He pulled over and called 911 because I was unresponsive. After 2 hours of testing at the hospital I was ready to go home. I mean everyone faints at some point in their life was my attitude. The doctor told me everyone faints for a reason and asked me to please stay overnight for more testing. Reluctantly I agreed.

The next morning I fainte...

thanks for the support

My special thanks to all who cared enough to give me comments. That alone made it feel almost alright to what has happened to me. Kerry, Becky, bmom91 and all else who emailed me. Again, I am/was a pilot for my living and this was quite a shock to have happen to me especially since I have all my life been an avid exerciser and self proclaimed health nut. I have my masters in clinical nutrition so go figure. They tell me I a few weeks I can go back to all my exercise routines but my mind s...

block and had a PM and a defibrillator fitted by emergency on 1st October. To say I'm shocked is an understatement but glad to be alive. I'm normally a calm and placid person but I've
got do much anger I don't know how to deal with it. My hubby understandably is very hurt by my attitutude and I'm angry at myself but don't know what's happening. Please can someone let me know if this is normal and if so will it go away.

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
