Hey guys! I hate coming here with anything BUT something weird, funny, or genius. Which is why I'm bringing something of that sort here today!!! But first, I want to reiterate the amazing support that I have found here over the years. I guess this is my 4th year on here. Wow, I now feel even older. Anyway, the comments on my last post made my chin come up about 6 inches. Yeah. Pat yourselves on the back. :) Seriously, I don't know what I would do without having you all to come to!

3 months on
Hi everyone.....it's been a while!! 3 months after my implant due to type 1 full heart block, it's been an interesting ride. Once my head got round the fact that I rely on a Pacer 99.9% of the time, I manage to live a completely normal life, (though my Cardio Doc insists I don't excercise until I have a couple of further tests to rule out CAD (Cardio Arterial Disease). Back on my motorbike, Gigging with my band, working part time in a new career, moved house, gardening etc...brilliant.....unt...
Frequent Pain
Since having my pacemaker I have had sharp pain in my shoulder, sometimes lasting a few seconds until a few minutes. This had all but stopped untill recently.
I have now experienced over the past few weeks it up to 12 times a day with no apparent cause. The only thing I can think is that I've had to start carrying a heavy bag around with me. The strap doesn't go over the pacemaker but could it be pulling the muscle to make it hurt?
I'm worried a wire may have come lose or...

In May I went thru my 23rd -28th surgeries since 1993. I am 40 yrs old and received my 1st pacemaker in 1993. In May I began experiencing shocking and pain. I have a dual chamber pacemaker and am 100% dependant. I have been diagnosed with WPW (wolfe parkinson white syndrome). I had many complications this time. After so many surgeries the scar tissue was massive and the pacer had to be moved from the left collarbone area to the right, then immediately after surgery for that it was very clear tha...

Hey guys. If you could, please think about me this weekend. My heart decided that it was time again to tell me that I'm not normal. My muscles were begging me to work them a bit, so I attempted a pathetic "workout". I soon had to stop because the pain, dizziness, and pressure was so bad. And all I could think about was not being able to enjoy myself at all the homecoming events this weekend and how "having a pacemaker is not that bad". Why do I keep feeling this way?!?!? From what I've been told...
I'm a Newbie
I just found this site yesterday. I have an appt with an EP on October 11th to schedule the pacemaker implantation, Am freaking out big time. I have first degree AV node block and sick sinus syndrome, all caused by a botched SVT ablation in 2002. Even though I've known I would need a pacemaker "eventually" due to the damage done to my heart, it's still freaking me out. I had gastric bypass in 2007 and have lost over 200 lbs and can finally wear decent clothes, and now it's going to show and...
1/Year in!
At the end of July I had 1 year in with the Pacer. So I thought I'd share my thoughts. I had to get the Pacer after a 3rd degree block resulting in a low heartbeat. The past year has been an on and off head trip. I did have 2 situations. Both shortness of breath-the most awful thing to happen. The 1st episode happened after flu shot-5 days in the hospital, the doc said it was CHF. Congestive Heart Failure. I said it was the flu shot.
The 2nd was shotness of breath which I sat out-outs...
funny sensations
Hi
I had a pacemaker inserted just over a week ago. I do feel fantastic since however, I have a funny feeling in my neck, sometimes its tickle-ish and makes me cough.
is this common or should i be discussing with the Cardio team.
thanks

got my pacemaker
I got my pacemaker yesterday and it wasn't bad at all. I'm a little sore but i am doing really good. I guess they had some trouble putting the lead in because i have high cardiac out put and it wouldnt stay in..they said they had to put a heavy duty lead in. I did not get the AV node ablated, I have to wait till the lead heals in there for a week or so then i will get ablated. I was also told that my heart is not a 50 year old heart, I guess it has some wear and tear but I am alive and thats o...
Trying to cope with all this
I don't feel that I'm coping very well with having a pacemaker. I have only had it since 09/09/10. I was bummed out when I saw how visible it was to me when I looked in the mirror. My sister-in-law has one and you can't even tell other than the scar.
Once in a while I feel my heart twitch, kind of like the feeling one would get if they are just starting to fall asleep and they twitch. (My heart will do that) Is that normal?? Sometimes I also feel like I'm falling. Right after I had m...

I have had my pacemaker for one week. Yesterday the Dr removed the dressing from the surgery site of my pacemaker. Now i can feel it move in my chest. I had trouble sleeping last night. I am also an active 'older' athlete and wonder how i am going to get used to this very uncomfortable feeling in my chest? I would appreciate any advice given. Thanks.

I have posted messages before concerning tired feeling. PM implanted 7/7/0. Still not feeling as good as I thought I would. I have tried to be patient but am still not feeling as good as I thought I would. Saw my GP yesterday for normal blood pressure checkup. BP 130/70. Told him how I felt but he said all seemed ok. Keep thinking of all the problems that could be causing these feelings. Always think the worse. I have numerous lung nodules that are being tracked by ct every 6 months. This last c...

Hi everyone,
Well its been four weeks since I got my pm I am doing great and I am feeling so much better, but the last few days I have been so depressed, I cry over nothing. I have no reason to be I have everything to be happy for and thankful for. Has this happen to anyone else. I guess it may be part of the healing. I hope it passes soon. This site is very helpful, thanks to all.
emotions
Hi all. Would like to know if others have had trouble controlling their emotions? I have two more weeks until my PM surgery and it feels like I'm wearing my emotions on my shirt sleeve. I can go so long and then the slightest thing brings me to tears. If I get over tired it brings on the tears. I feel like I'm fighting to hold the tears back. I hope this will pass after my surgery.

Seat belts
Hi all
Since my operation at the end of May, my seat belt has given me some mild irritation over my left shoulder. My wife was kind enough to make me a pad to fit onto the seat belt and provide some protection. It's simply a roll of cloth onto which she fitted some Velcro. The side between the belt and my shoulder is several layers thick while the last layer is the one with the Velcro and closes over the belt. It's quite comfortable and I feel safer, confident that the cloth will absorb...
allergic
Hi guys has anyone ever been allergic to their pm? i have had 7 pms in the last 6 years now, they are testing to see if i am allergic, i keep pushing the pm out. Last time it broke through my skin and i am always in pain i take morphine every day. Had some patch test put on tuesday and they were going to take them off sat. I have had to take them off myself as they made my skin blister and very sore. I just feel all alone and worried sick as to the outcome in the last 6 months i...
In Shock
My husband went into surgery last tuesday for Afib. We had the maze procedure after having several Ablation surgeries to no success. This morning, after 6 days in the hospital we were awakened by an alarm telling us that his heart stopped for 10 seconds. This has been going on all day and now we again were shocked to hear that he will have to have a pacemaker put in tomorrow. Please help with any comments about what to do! Kind of Pacemaker??? We are in shock and would love to hear from any...
