Incision pain

Hi All!. I haven't been on here much because I've been feeling pretty good. My only problem now is I still have pain around my incision and I can't even tolerate my bra strap on it for very long. Even if I try to pad my strap it still hurts and feels irritated. And it's still tender to the touch. I had my pm implanted in February. If it wasn't for the pain at the site I wouldn't even know I had a pace maker. Will I ever be pain free or is this some thing I'm supposed to live with?

NEW

hey everyone!

i just had a pacemaker out in 3 days ago. i'm having a hard time with this because i have been nothing but physically active my entire life. having to get a pacemaker is due to hereditary heart issues. my father had what i have and he died at 39. i am 31 and am thankful they caught it but also somewhat discouraged. i gues i'm just looking for some words of positivity to help me get back to, not only being my old self again, but to be even better than i was before.

Struggling a little tonight

Ok folks, I have been on my diet since the middle of last week. I have increased my physical activities, eating a lot of salad and also saying no to the delicious ice cream which I love. I and sitting here on the sofa reading email, reading the new post and my tummy is wanting something "good". Now what do I do? That is the question. This is my problem. This is how I gained 13 pounds. I used to give in. However now I tell myself that I had a nice lunch and I had a balanced dinner. I don't need a...

New guy checking in

Howdy,

I had my pacemaker implanted in August of last year. I'm still learning to live with it. My doc says that I won't need a replacement for atleast 6 years.

I have TGA but the reason why I needed a PM is because I developed heart block. In short it sucks I think: I came so close to dying, I mean really I did. I'm a single dad of two and after fighting for custody for over a year at that point I just think it was too much to be that close to the grave.

BEWARE OF DOCTORS AND HOSPITALS

In September 1st of 2006 my nightmare started. The doctors told me I needed a pacemaker so the same day I was hospitalized the make arragements to operate early that morning.

There were things I noticed before the operation. And I was uneasy about it but I told myself that they knew what they were doing, so I went along with it.

Please! I beg you!!! If you or anyone you know needs a pacemaker, be sure to get not one, but up to three doctors opinion and most of all, c...

Is this anxiety? ICD implanted

I am getting more anxious due to feeling my heart beat harder than usual. I have a ICD transmitter here at home and it was tested yesterday by phone and it is ok...have about 3 more months left on it, but the last several day's, I just feel my heart beating as I said harder than usual. Does anyone else deal with this? What's hard is living 45 min away from the nearest hospital and my Cardiologist. I'm new to this site and I never seem to find anyone in the Chat area?

Would like to share ICD concerns

Hi all...this is my 1st I hope of many more postings. I had my ICD implanted after a cardiac/respiratory arrest in 2006. Prior to that I had a pacemaker for Atrial Fibrillation. "They" think it was the medication Amiodorone that may have caused the arrest? I live in a small town 45 min away from the closest hospital and my Cardiologist office. I have an issue currently that is causing me and inturn my husband major stress. I have my ICD tested in the office every 3 months. I see the Dr. every 6...

Six Month Anniversary

Hello,

It's been a couple of months since my last post and I just wanted to say thanks again to everyone...I owe you guys alot for supporting my pre-op/post op surgery.

It'll be six months on June 9th since I've had my CRT-D implated...in retrospect, it was more of a hassle than anything else. Easy to say now, then I was certaintly nervous AND sick.

I am back to working out at the gym and walking the trails of Colorado. I feel kinda spacey at times, due more to...

Need a Pep Talk

I had an Echo last Friday to see if my EF had improved after having my PM implanted in Nov.'09. I received the results on Tueday and was disappointed to learn that it had not improved. I am still at 35-40 after six months. I have been feeling quite down. Am I expecting too much too soon?

I appreciate everyone on this site and look forward to your responses. Could you cheer my up?

CHF

I was doing fine but my husband has had a crisis with his diabetes and both feet were amputated. He is still in the hospital and will be for a while. I want to do everything I can for him and have managed to find someone to fix the mower, mow the yard, fix the sprinkler system and on and on. I am feeling very selfish cause I am getting worried about myself. I got my CRT-D because of CHF and I am noticing similarities between what I felt then and what I am starting to feel now. I just am not mana...

Not feeling the greatest.

Maybe I got too excited about the 8 week weight loss challenge, but haven't been feeling the best this afternoon.

Keep checking my pulse and I am skipping beats. Called my EP and they told me to do an phone transmission. Nurse called back saying the pm is ok. She said what I am feeling are premature beats and they are not serious.

Anyone else experience these and will they go away? It's been going on for over 3 hours now.

New member saying hello

Hi , I am a new member and am still somewhat angry at having a pacemaker placed.
I know i should not be but I am.

Last year 2009 October ,I had open heart surgery for a mitral valve repair (luckily) as it was supposed to be a replacement .Thankfully it could be repaired.

After having the mitral valve repair my pacing wires were removed after 5 days and unfortunately my electronics did not kick in and I flatlined 5 x within the space of 9hrs, so drs decided to put me ba...

New to PM club

March 2010 implanted new pacemaker. For the most part I feel ok. Some days I feel a pinching in my upper left chest around the PM site. As if an insect is inside my body bitting me. Does anyone else feel this? Could it have to do with the nervous running throughout the body. I keep wondering if the lead is pulling away.
If anyone understands what I mean please respond. Thanks

feeling frumpy and overwhelmed by crybaby syndrome

Feeling yucky

As some may recall our home was struck by lightening about 2 weeks ago. It "fried" a lot of appliances including my new remote pacemaker monitoring system. So I have not been monitored since. Here is the problem. I am feeling like ?$%! I have talked to the Dr. (he is the one who told me to be quiet and stop fidgeting) ugh. I have an appt. on June 2 and was told unless I get really bad to wait till then to get checked out. :-O

Today, via U.P.S. a brand new Merlin has arrived. I have to...

7 weeks: still stressed!

Today is 7 weeks since my PM. I have come a long way: reduced my meds for the tachycardia, back at work. I don't worry so much about the PM as I did.
But I am also so far from where I thought I would be (wish I had this site before the procedure: would have been more realistic!). Still lots of pain in my shoulder, which seems to make all my arm and back tremble and makes`me think I'm having palpitations. And I can't stop thinking about my pulse however hard I try, not helped by the fact...

Theme parks

Evening all!

I had my pacemaker fitted a couple of months ago so i'm now at the point where i am pretty much back to normal. A group of friends are planning a visit to a theme park with loads of roller coasters etc. Are we able to go on these rides with a pacemaker??

Thanks for reading

Here I go again.

Greetings, haven't been on this site for a very long time which I guess means life has been good. I recently returned from a wonderful holiday in Mexico, however while i was there I was diagnosed with systolic heart failure and am currently waiting to see a cardiologist in Vancouver. I can't get in until the 2nd of June so it is going to be a very long wait. My pacemaker seems to be fine although I am pacing on the bottom a whole lot more than I was my last check up. I'm so scared again knowing...

A pacemaker suddenly quitting is no more likely to happen than you are to be struck by lightening.
