I never came home with any panin meds after my PM surgery..but am now on pain meds...grrrr. Oh well. ~~~~just be careful folks~~~~ when you think you can lift, take it easy! I want to get...

Still have exhaustion problems

Very very athletic age 67 - swimmer up to 7500 meters a week until sudden fatigue, dizziness curtailed everything3 months ago. Had panicked and futile visits to the ER corroborating that most medical people would rather see you in trauma or dead. Finally, after all the indifference and brutality, two months go by of total contradictory, rude confusion by medical people, and then after the stress / echo / 24 hour monitor, I had a PM inserted 6 days ago. Fatigue still a problem, esp. heavy legs. H...

Fear of Failure

Hi Everyone,

I had my pacemaker 2 weeks ago and this is my second post! Sorry for posting again so soon, but I'm really struggling. After the procedure I was suffering from tachycardia (me, not the pacemaker, which is just a back-up for second degree block). But now I'm pretty sure I'm being paced most of the time because the drugs for my fast heart rate are dropping my heart rate to 60 and increasing my heart block, which is when the pacemaker kicks in.

I'm now terrified...

Anyone else have this problem??

Hi,
I am new to this site and to pm's in general. I have only posted once before and some very nice people helped me out with answers to my questions. I had my pm implant on March 19 and although most of the soreness and pain I was experiencing due to a 2 1/2 hour problem getting the dual chamber wires in place was lessening I now find that even though I am sleeping on my back (probably also once in a while rolling over to my side) I wake up with my left shoulder quite sore - and sometime...

Cardiac Neurosis

I am a 32 y/o male, currently enrolled in a graduate program for dietetics and nutrition.

I had ASD repair at the age or 3, atrial flutter and complete heart block diagnosed a few years ago, with the concurrent implantation of a pacemaker. Since then, I have been excessively worried about my heart and feel as though I am living on borrowed time via a mechanical device of which I would no doubtably have been dead without a few decades ago. These worries adversely effect my relationshi...

Defibrillator Works!

Having had my pacemaker/defibrillator implanted in March 2008, I had not had the experience of needing the defibrillator until this past weekend. I am a runner, have been for 30 years, and was at the 3 mile mark when my legs became rubbery and eye sight goofy and then THUMP, the defibrillator kicked in and I was able to jog and finish the race. I obsess over heart issues constantly. I am 56 years old and my father died at 56. I am a nurse, previously worked with heart patients for many years...

Getting very discouraged

I have had VTach for years. Was on Amiodorone for years and it worked but the docs wanted to take me off because of long term effects. I am 56. In November of 2009 I had 6 ablations done. Did not help. My heart rate kept dropping into the 40's. So last week I had a PM implanted. I am on 180 mg of Verapamil twice a day and 120 mg of Sotalol twice a day. I feel like I have a chest cold. I feel like crap and thought I would feel better when the PM was put in. I was on Diovan for my BP but...

Is this the PM?

Before installing the PM/ICD device, I would sit down on the couch and would feel just fluttering feeling, and a light headedness that would not go away.

At work, I had those feelings and I woke up to go get a glass of water, and fainted.

Today for the first time, I was sitting down and had those feelings, but it was very brief, and immediately felt better. I am wondering if anyone is feeling the same with devices. Doctor told me that I have Afib and the pacer part of the...

Thank you

I am a paramedic so I KNOW that the human body is only a machine and machines break. Sometime they go their whole life running just fine and others need work as soon as they come off the assembly line. However even being a paramedic didn't prepare my psyche for the need of a pacemaker at age 38, I mean, c'mon! Pacemakers are for OLD people lol. (No offense intended to ANYONE on this site or elsewhere) I was diagnosed with bradycardia due to SSS. My heart rate which normally runs in the 80's rest...

Franks Thought for the Day

After each heart beat we start to die. It is only the next beat that resuscitates us. At an average HR we have something like 80,000-90,000 beats each day so some 80,000 times a day we start to die. Multiply that by 365 times your age and just think..all those emergencies and we are still here.

So relax and thank each one of those little beats and don't get upset if once in a while one takes a break.

Feel depressed

I feel very depressed, I just had my surgery a few days ago, and I am still recovering, with pain meds and some swelling. I feel my life has come to an end, not sure what to expect. I hope someone out here can write something inspiring, I sure could use something right now.

Here we go again..mystery buzzing

I'm not as worried this time but does anyone else experience a kinda "mini fluttery" slight vibrating sensation by their pm? I'm 1 yr post pm surgery and had this sensation about 6 months ago. It went away.
Seems to have followed the day after maybe lifting too heavy of weights at the gym like chess compressions and pull downs. It comes on goes like a slight hummmm..expect no noise! Goes on and off about every 3 - 5 mins or so.
Anyone else exp this and should I be worried? No more med...

I keep fearing I have pulled a lead!!! I have some pain that goes kinda in toward my armpit, and then also down below where the PM is resting. Its strange. I also want to know, will this huge bulge always be there?? I mean its like palm size? Is that normal? I have had good days and bad days...and I hat...
