A Blessing to Me

I just wanted to tell everyone how much of a Blessing this site is and you ALL are to me. You're all an inspiration too. You all give me a good laugh just when I seem to need it. This has been rough for me. I try to cope the best I can. But when I come on here there is always someone on here I can relate to. And I don't feel so alone. I just wanted you all to know this. Thank you for being there.

I was told yesterday it is time for a pacemaker. I am starting the process of finding out all I can before making all the final decisions. Doctors , types of pacemakers, quality, costs of all, how I will feel, activity restriction, addition, sex, sleeping. Tell me all please.

Emotional/Physical Rollercoaster

Hi all. I am on such a rollercoaster of emotion and physical well being. Yesterday I made a comment on the Shoutbox. I was feeling good yesterday emotionally and physically and today I feel depressed and in pain and lousy. I checked my pulse so everything must be working ok. I was planning on taking my first car drive today, but it's snowing again and I'm not going to venture out. I look in the mirror and see an old lady even though I'm only 49. I can't believe how much this is kicking my...

Hi its Ellie here,

I have now had my pm 4 months and am trying to get back to normal, but my pm moves under my arm when i turn at night to the left, when i lift my left arm in the air i can get hold of the pm, which is causing me still not too sleep at night and causing me to be stressed.
Also still very sore and tender, is this normal ?

The consultant said the pm might need to be put in deeper.

I would be so grateful for any feed back, I just want to get o...

I am depressed

Hey listener,

I am depressed. Not in a mental sense but exhuasted from having this ICD since jan-2008 and from having to be aware of it everyday. The normal things that we are unable to do are beginning to overwhelm me. Like Im salty about this whle thing still. I am a public figure that has a workload that incurs my servitude. It is 2 yrs and almost 2 moths and Im still vexed and Im still tired. The last time I saw my Dr he said see you next year and I dont even bother to call...

Got my pacemaker on 2/24/10

I still can't believe that it happened to me. I am an extremely healthy 53 year old woman, not on any meds, and have an otherwise healthy heart. About 2 weeks ago I felt a little lightheaded after walking my dog that passed quickly. A week later it happened again, but this time it didn't pass quickly. The next day I went to the doctor and had a normal EKG, but he did arrange for me to get heart monitor for 2 weeks.

On Saturday, Feb 20 I really did not feel well and took my pulse it wa...

msg for LS

Hi, - you may feel the pacemaker working - I think it's just getting used to it - I don't even know mine is there now.
I had the rate responder switched on at the pacemaker clinic and found this much better for me.

Trying to get confidence back.

Since my PM implant on Feb. 2nd, I had so many ups and downs emotionally. Sometimes the whole idea of my PM just gets me down and it seems like such a battle everyday to stay positive. I read posts about people doing all sorts of activities and I feel jealous because I am afraid to even go shopping. It seems like I have lost confidence and don't trust my body. I'm always fearful something is going to happen to the leads or that they will find something else wrong. I'm afraid to walk my dog...

STILL low blood pressure

I'm on day 13 since my placement of my pacemaker. I am sleeping like 15 - 20 hours a day and still extremely exhausted. My bp today is in the 85/40 - 95/45 range. I'm also getting a bad headache AGAIN!

Thursday, the doctor took me off of the prednisone and put me on decadron. I'm wondering if this could be causing the lower bp and headache. They do think that this is NOT PM related and I believe them. My husband wanted to know how my bp could be so low if my heart rhythm is doing f...

No energy

I've had my PM for about a year and a half and can't understand why I'm so lax.
I have no energy and thought the PM would do the trick.
I fall asleep in my chair while watching TV and while I want to plan to get out of the house and go to line dancing lessons, my energy is soooo low. I haven't the drive to move out of my own way.
My sugar level is OK .
Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on?

Blake well wishes

Just thinking about the wonderful founder of this site, and hoping that your atrial flutter isn't giving you fits.
Possibly, you've had your ablation just in time for the Winter Pacemaker Olympics...LOL.

Here's to you, Blake, and I do hope you're well.

Pacemaker On 02-24-10

Hi All,

One week after the cardiologist called, I had a Boston Scientific dual-chamber pacemaker inserted for Sinus Pauses. That was last Thursday.

I have dealt with plenty of swelling around the incision and under the arm along with incision pain. I'm still very swollen and this Thursday, the nurse takes off the teri-strips and checks the incision. Inside are sutures, which will dissolve on their own.

I read this several times here, but for 24-years, I have...

Anxiety

I know that many of us have certain levels of anxiety when dealing with and accepting our pacemakers. That would be expected.

But am I learning the hard way that sometimes....its not just anxiety for anxiety sake!

Get your thyroids checked if you feel like your anxiety or panic attacks after the pacemaker seem like they are going on a bit too long. You might have a hyperthyroid! Hyperthyroid is often overlooked and doctors may lump us in with the "your just anxious" crowd....

What a smile!

Today was a big day. After being kind of held up in the house for a while with all the tach / panic drama....I went into NYC to see a show with my aunts, cousins, sister, mom etc. I drove in and met everyone at the show. It was time to stand tall and show that tach and panic who was boss! LOL....

Everyone knew I was really a little nervous to head out though. They also know that my PM site in my opinion is still pretty ugly and I still feel awkward about it. I try to wear scarves over...

I'm a little scared to post anymore...I'm not very familiar with all the terms everyone posts on this site. I don't know what my pacemaker is set at. I think the doctor told me he set mine at 80 (whatever that means). He said the bottom lead has been working continuously since the pm was put in. I guess that is the low setting and probably my resting heart rate is lower than that.

I am still having trouble adjusting to the fact that I ACTUALLY have a pacemaker. I thought I was pe...

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
