Young adults with PM
I can not believe there is a web site for people with pacemakers. I am 37 and since I was in my early 30's I have had a really slow heart rate. I have never passed out but have recorded heart rates of 19 bpm and pauses of 7 seconds while awake and at work. I now have a pacemaker and do not feel that much different. I was wondering if there are any other people with the same symptoms. I did not read all the posts but the majority of people failed the tilt test. I have had numerous tilt test with...
5 months post surgery and feeling anxious again
Greetings everyone and a Merry Christmas to all. I haven't been on the site for some time which tells me that I've been feeling so much better. How ever the last few days I've been feeling a little off. I was at work yesterday(careaide so it is a physical job) and near the end of my shift I had a dizzy spell and had to sit down. The nurse took my BP which was 135/91 which is high for me and my pulse was jumping all over the place from 40 to 90. The nurse was not sure how accurate the pulse meter...
dental work
I think I saw a couple of post about dental work and some precautions. I have an appointment in about a week. Is there something i need to be careful of?

another 2000 sleep apnea
Looks like 2000 was a bad year for sleep apnea. I've my CPAP since then and I won't even try to take a nap without it. I still breakout on my nose but I sleep sooo much better. On my sleep study I slept for 5.1 hrs and stopped breathing 444 times and was told it was not severe. My wife was after me for about 5 years to be tested. Well she was right again. I just had my PM about 10 days ago and was not aware that needing a PM and having sleep apnea were some how related.
No Energy
Am a new recipient - implanted day after Thanksgiving - so a little more than 2 weeks ago - and I just find I get so tired - will I ever get my energy back?

welcome
Hi Fuad
First thing is, welcome aboard. The people here are very knowledgeable and helpful. Ive only been a member for about a week and just got my PM last Monday. So Im new to this site as well. Ive found that everyone here has been very informative and it helps to hear things from others that already went through what you are now going through. Ive really enjoyed their help.
Ron
Thanks all
I found all of your suggestions very helpful and I will heed your advice. Thanks again to all of you. So far, I love this site.
Ron
Please advise
Hi Everyone
Could someone tell me if its normal to get a small sharp pain at the site where the PM was placed? I have gotten it 5 or 6 times over the last hr. I dont think I did anything to upset it? Its not real painful, but I definitely feel it. Also it was a little sore when I woke up this morning, Iwas lying on the side where the PM is. I hope I didnt do something in my sleep. Im new to this (having a PM) so maybe Im just paranoid. I dont want to call my Dr for and drive h...
feeling better
I have only been on this site a few days and I look forward to seeing whats new as soon as I get home from work. Is it common to have A-Fib (ranging from 39 to 170 bpm) with either Essential tremors or sleep apnea? I believe I read a couple of posts about someone having a PM and being tested for sleep apnea. Unfortunately I have all three Essential tremors, sleep apnea and A-fib. I know much more about either the Essential tremors or sleep apnea than I do about A-fib with a PM. But this site...

Hi Just come across this site and was so nice to read and hear from people with pacemakers. My baby was diagnosed with CHB when I was pregnant with her, we were distraught and scared. She had a a pacemaker fitted when she was 5 days old. I forget she has got it as she is such a happy baby and her scars have healed so well, it was all very scary and stressful when she was first born but I wouldn't change her for the world. My worries are what prob;lems lie ahead for her with going going to scho...
Thanks
I appreciate everyones response, I dont know much about pacemakers and you all have been very helpful. I never thought much about a PM until my Dr called me at work just a few days ago and told me I need one right away. This didnt leave me much time to investigate anything. But I did find this site and Im glad I did. Does anyone know if there is a link between A-Fib and Essential tremors? I started have both at about the same time and the meds are the same for both problems. It just seem odd...
Just got my PM, need info please
Hi All, I was just sent home from the hospital today and not yet sure about living with this PM. About 1 hr ago I had a slight burning in my heart area. Am I supposed to feel anything with the PM? Ive had A-Fib for a few years and had an ablation in Sept and it didnt help much. Since the ablation my heart stops for 3 or 4 sec at a time, a few times a day. So Im on more meds and a PM and not sure what Im up against. Should I feel the PM working on my heart? I still had the irregular heart rat...
Recovery
Dear RaggedyKat What you are feeling I think is pretty normal. I had an ablation almost two years ago and I am 100% dependent on this little computer. My adjustment was much harder psychlogically than physicaly. I cant tell you that I dont know its there but I have learned that this is my future and I try to eat and sleep and live right and try to be normal. I thank God for modern technology so that I can live. Everyone has the why me syndrome but think of other things we could have that...

I had a PM put in early September, after the hospital diagnosed SSS - though I'm still not convinved that's what it really is. Pulse was down at 36, so there was definitely something wrong with the system somewhere.
I'm supposed to be taking betablockers as well, but the doctors have never given me a good reason to do this, and my GP doesn't recommend it. I'm 46 and the thought of being on Betablockers for the rest of my life doesn't entrall me, so I'm giving it a try without them.
I...
Feeling of Impending Doom
This is going to sound a bit odd....I had a pacemaker implanted last week and when I got home I felt different and it took me a while to figure out what it was. For many months I had this feeling of impending doom and I hadn't realized how pervasive it had become to me. What I realized was that, after the PM had been implanted, the feeling of impending doom had disappeared. Have any of you experienced the same thing? It's a great feeling to not be afraid any more.

I had to wear my left arm in a sling eight weeks after pm/defib was implanted. I slept on my back & not raise my arm. A friend of mine raised her window & pulled a lead out of place.
I had two specialists that implanted mine at a large city hospital & they recommand arm in sling a long time. They give plenty of time to make sure the leads are anchor well into the muscle & all healed in due time.
I have not had any problem of any kind & its been seven years.
A week later
It's a been a week since I had my pacer removed. I am doing fine and don't feel any big changes. Before I had the pacer removed, I was told I will have to wear a heart monitor for 2 weeks to make sure my heart rate doesn't drop too low at night, I haven't heard anything from the doctor's office about it and I don't have any appointments with the doctor either. They don't even let me make a follow-up appointment for wound check.
I understand it was my decision to have the pacer removed but I...
High Anxiety
Hi everyone, I'm new here and also new to having a defibrillator as of Nov.11, 2008. My docs have been pretty good about answering questions but there is one thing no one can seem to address. Since the day after surgery I have been feeling an incredibly high degree of anxiety. My sense is that it is related to this new thing in my chest but is also due to the underlying reason I needed the ICD in the first place. I'm also fearful of getting a whopping shock that everyone describes as a "kick in...
