Heart is weak?

Hello all,  It's been a while since I posted here, but this one can't wait for my own peace of mind.

I am told that my heart muscles are weak and that is the reason my EF is not improving, I walk and jogg a little daily about 2.5 to 3.5 miles, I do get tired and somethimes I have to stop and take breaks, but I get it done almost every day. So when I questioned my cardiologist about the lack of improvement he told me that the heart is weak and has to work more to provi...

heart racing and pounding feeling in chest

Hi, I'm new to this forum and so glad I found this group to share some of my feelings .  I was recently implanted about 4 days ago, a dual chamber pacer for high grade second degree AV block ( Mobitz type 2) occurring during exercise with HR over 120. I also have tachy brady syndrome wherein my HR sometimes keeps rising even on minor exertions like walking up a flight of stairs and then stay high around 120s for a good half hour before gradually slowing down...

Walking and HeartRate

68 year old female that had PM inserted on May 5, 2022 due to SSS and AFIB.  Have been walking around stores with moderate increase in heart rate.  Today decided to walk down the street, a short walk.  Got back and heart rate was up to 128 which has upset me as It was a moderate walk.  I am trying my best to get moving. Should I be concerned?  The EPNP said to talk with my Cardiologist as everything looked ok to him.  Have any of you experienced this?

I finally had my pace maker put in a week ago

I am 61 years old and my heart rate when I was younger was 44  and has been 30 since I Turned 40.   I did have some dizzyness when I was mid thirtys.   Almost no symptoms in the last 10 years.  So why did I do it?   Well I learned my heart rate when I sleep is 21 and was 28 at my last check up with the Cardiologist.   He said I could pass out driving or on a ladder.   I was told i would most likely feel better.   ...

Bone spur

Hi everyone, I just found out I have a bone spur on my left heel (painful) Looking at several treatment options. Has anyone ever had the low dose radiation treatment for this? Just wondering if it's an issue with the PM? Trying to avoid the surgery route. I'm 65 and this is the first time I have ever had one of these.

Newby

I'm a 69 year old recreational runner and curler. I had AFIB and an ablation in 2011 and another one in 2022 (after Afib returned). Second ablation killed my sinus node and I went to Bracardia with the right ventrical running the show at 30-35 bpm. I quickly got out fitted with a dual chamber Medtronic W3DR01 pace maker on June 13 2022. I found the iPhone app but am waiting for registration confirmation. I have done 3 light jogs of 20-25 minute duration. Pulse comes up to 140 on hills and...

Running

I just got an ICD on 5/4/22.  I went into cardiac arrest after an easy one mile track warm up.  Prior to that, I was getting lightheaded on my regular runs after mile 1 or 2 into my run.  Now that I have the implant, I would like to resume running again, but my heart rate gets very high very quickly.  I am using a 25 mg. Metoprolol pill twice daily.  Any one on here who has VT, has an ICD, was a runner before implant and has been able to...

Bodybuilding restrictions please help

Hey guys I'm an 18 year old who had a heart attack due to congenital ab third grade block and had to get a pacemaker implanted just 2 months ago. Before this I used to do 6hrs of excercise a day doing both power lifting and bodybuilding and occasionally chalistenics. Now I'm back at it but have a fear of lead damage and don't know what I can or can't do. I've removed chalistenics completely as well as heavy bench pressing or heavy military pressing. I've also removed E...

Return to cycling

Hi,

I had a pacemaker fitted due to heart block 2 weeks ago. I'm a keen road cyclist - usually on the bike 2 hours a day during the week. At weekends I go windsurfing. I'd rate my previous level of fitness as in the top few percent for my age (43). The heart block came completely out of the blue - no warning signs at all.

The cardiologist is aware of my avid cycling. He's said to stay off the bike for 3 months to avoid damaging the wires. Reading all the doc...

CRT-P Settings for Cycling

Does anyone have any information on the range of settings on a Medtronic CRT-P.?

I am now 75, I have always tried to keep fit but in 2007 I had a triple by-pass and then in 2018 I went into full AF-b. Since then, I have had 2 Cardioversions and they both only lasted days. I have been treated with Amiodarone for the last 18 months and it did stop the AF-b. However, in mid-March I started with Atrial Flutter and my heart rate has been 85/95 bpm at rest, before it was normally 45/50bpm. Al...

Bowling

I have been an avid bowler for over 40 years.  Bowling 3 to 4 times a week. I noticed my speed when bowling went from 14 to 8 miles per hour.  Knew it was an issue with my heart based on my heart rate was always under 50  Had a BS Accolade dual chamber put in on 5/20.  Excuse me if termanology isn't correct - new to everything.  Had a stent put in on 4/06.  Heart conditions started in November.

I have a few questions about getting back to bowling....

Compression boots for circulation

Has anyone here been told not to use comprssion boots because of their pacemaker? I assume it would be fine because the legs are not next to the pacemaker. Hoping they might help leg circulation but its a stab in the dark.

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
