"Battery Running Low"?

My tech said that I could have any model pm I liked when it came time for replacement. I told him I did not want an old lady model as I was too active and wanted the best. Our cheap store is called Chickenfeed. His reply was: "So you want one that is not suitable for low activity and only the best, you don't want one from Chickenfeed then?"

They are a great bunch at the Hobart Hospital. I am...

Thankful for my pacer.

I have had my pacer for 2 1/2 years. I haven't had any problems. Feel much better. It took a year to adjust to the pacer but now I forget I even have it.

Not as Worried

This is my 1st post and my 1st day as a member. I was implanted with a st jude medical dual lead pacer on feb 2nd of this year after experiencing total heart block in the hospital and being flatline for a total of 50 seconds before being brought back. And after being brought back I had a very irregular heart beat with tach and then periods of brady. After becoming coherant again I was constantly worried about dying and had to be medicated to even sleep. I was so anxious and afraid I was going to...

NSVT during stress test

I had my stress test Friday and showed Non Sustained Ventricular tacycardia, My cardiologist stated I had some runs of 1-3 beats, then 4-5 beats during the test. He is referring me back to my EP Doctor and is not sure why this is happening. My echo was normal. I have had 3 ablations in the past for SVT. I have a pacemaker now for Abrupt Bradycardia. Has anyone ever had this before? I have been feeling like I am going to collapse at times lately, comes on suddenly. Chest pain comes and goes. Fami...

Shaking Arm/Shoulder?

Has anyone experienced a shaking arm or shoulder post-pacemaker implant? I had my pacemaker put in three weeks ago, and have since has this feeling, especially when I wake up in the morning of shaking: I'm not sure if it is coming from my arm, shoulder, or back, on the left side. I had some complications after the procedure with a fast heart rate, and initially thought I was feeling my heart. But I've been on beta blockers for two weeks and the no fast heart rates anymore, but the shaking is...

Old Lady Shoulder Pain

Thanks for all the encouragement and notes. Have been to therapy 4 times. I don't know which is the worst, not going and hurting or going and hurting. Friday, my arm was pushed beyond where it wanted to go and held for 10 seconds. Do you know how long 10 seconds can seem when the pain is beyond the number 10 on the scale 1-10?
I can only hope that it will improve and SOON!
Apparently for some people, the limited use can create this condition
and/or inflamation. Didn't know...

in need of reassurance....

hi everyone! so my battery was low and i had my 1st replacement surgery 5 days ago. i'm doing good and the pain isn't too bad anymore, it's more of a tight feeling with the muscles now especially when i stand or walk around.

a week before my surgery i caught a cold and i still sneeze every now and then and i have an annoying lingering cough, it's not a bad cough but i'm nervous that it's going to do something to my incision or it's gonna make my device or leads dislodge, move or beco...

Pep Talk

Hi everyone,
Been going through a rough time and could use a pep talk. I am realizing that I am scared of the PM and times when I may be pacing. I am scared that I have it. I went to the dr. and was pacing 5% of the time as compared to 1% like before. Am I getting worse? I am having a hard time with confidence and self esteem lately. It's been no secret that I am having a hard time accepting it. I am still frightened I will pass away like my father did.

I just feel frightened al...

Battery Running Low?

Hi All

I haven't posted for a while but have been reading everyone's news. Are there any pointers to a battery running low that anyone can help me with. I have my next check for my pm next week.

I feel so tired lately, as if all the energy just drains out of me. I also feel that I have very cold legs and feet at night or when I lay down, as if the blood is not reaching that portion of my body.

I am on three monthly checks now because my pm model is suddenly...

Thanks for the postings on my stress test

Just wanted to thank you all the postings were good. I will not just go along with them any more when it comes to my health. I will be more assertive. I thought they knew best. But we know our own bodies best. Frank your right there is a tendency in the practice of medicine for them to practice and we are the experiment. We are all it seems to me to be put in the same box not treated as individuals. It was told to me we have never seen your reaction to the chemical dilator medicine in 20 years o...

Tomorrow is the day!

Just wanted to pop in here tonight and thank everyone for all their thoughtful comments and words of wisdom over the past two weeks or so since I became aware that I infact would be getting a pacemaker.

My surgery is tomorrow morning at 8am...I'm not as nervous as I was before...the nerves related to the actual surgery are relatively low and always were...I'm not a stranger to the operating room. And even my apprehensions regarding life post-implantation are significantly decreased...

I'm back!

The doctors tell me my ablation was a sucess. The procedure took about three hours. They only found one bad circuit and checked the ones that were ablated a few years ago.

From my pacemaker, we were able to determine that my heart was in atrial flutter about 30% of the time since the fall. That explains why I’ve been so tired.

I got home last evening. I plan to rest for a few days and return to work some time next week. Thank you for the good wishes and pray...

Interior sutures coming through my skin!

At first I thought it was just some white loose skin or something on my incision, but day after day it was getting more clear. It's my interior sutures. They seem to be coming out through my skin! My incision was closed with glue so it's definitely not from that. I guess my dissolvable sutures didn't dissolve. Should I just cut the sutures and pull them out? Has this ever happened to anyone before?

Rough Night

Hi again everyone! I need some advice. I had a rough night last night. Two hours of sleep! I had my pacemaker implant on 4 Feb 2010. After my surgery my throat was hurting so bad and the doctor thought it was just nerve endings. Well that cleared up. I have been doing really good. That is until last night. I started hurting behide my right breast (pacemaker is on right side). The pain SLOWLY moved to the center of my abdominal area and proceeded to move upward. Now my throat is hurting again. Ye...

I still use my pacemaker 65% of the time, but now I sometimes forget it even there. Thanks to everyone on here who as help me along the way. Good luck to everyone!!!!!!!!!!

It's been a rough evening

I volunteer work at the local charity shop. I decorate and design window displays. It happens every so often that I am left at the store all by myself. I arrived at the store this evening while everyone else was still there. The store closed and they locked up, but I wasn't finished so I stayed behind. It took about 20 min. for me to finished and I went to look for my keys so I could leave. I discovered that I was locked in without my shop keys! They were in my car! I began to panic because I al...

I'm doing OK

Hi everyone,
Sorry so long since the last post, but now I actually have stuff to say. Nope, I'm still not out of the hospital and not only am I not out, Bram has decided to join me, but in the ICU. He has another lung infection, quite serious this time. I also found out that I need more heart surgery probably next week. They did an echo this week and discovered that one of my valves isn't working properly. They say it could be from the infection. They need to go in and fix that. Physio is g...

2 Years on

Hi everyone,
I am just posting to wish my PM a Happy 2nd Birthday!!
I can't actually believe its 2 years sine I got my PM implanted. It has gone mega fast.....I'm starting to forget that I have a PM and even feel very well possibly better than before I had it.
I can honestly say to people who are just having them implanted that how ever you feel it does get better and easier to cope with. It just becomes a part of you and your life.
Everybody is very different and that goes f...

Six Month Check Up & WARFARIN ~ ~

Thanks to all who responded to my post with all your helpful advice. This would be the first time I actually have seen the cardio/EP who did my implant. Dreaded his attitude ~

I went yesterday, everyone was really nice. The PA for my cardio. sat for a long time and just chatted about any feelings, questions, etc. I mentioned to her I had a "black out", for lack of a better word, not knowing what I did. Was not sleepy at all. Anyway, that is when I drove about 170+ miles one mont...
