Help!

I have been diagnosed with Athletic Hart Syndrome, coupled with several episodes of being extremely lightheaded for several days at a crack. I expect to be told on Thursday of this week that I will need a pacemaker to speed up my very slow heart rate, about 42 normally.
I am a long time runner and am very concerned a pacemaker will negatively affect my running ability. Of course, I have a number of other concerns about a pacemaker in general but I expect I can adjust. I am 58 and hope to co...

Sporting clays

I know there are some firearms fans on here - went out on Friday and shot sporting clays with a customer.

Had a great time, didn't "worry" about disconnecting a lead or anything - except for a moment where I decided things were so damn perfect I would be okay "going out" right there :) It was absolutely beautiful in central Kentucky on Friday afternoon.

Shot a 71 out of 100, 12 gauge over under...

Rate Response Question

I believe my EP turned my Rate Response on during my last visit.
I was having episodes of A-Fib and she thought the rate response being turned on may help me achieve a more normal beat during A-Fib episodes. I was feeling pretty good and didn't notice any episodes for about a month. Like everyone else, I have been under a lot of stress lately and it's beginning to consume me. I started working out again to help alleviate my stress and to clear my head. I notice now that when I'm doing a...

Show & Tell

We talk about our pacemakers and the number of leads we have, etc, here from time to time. While I'm sure most of you have seen a pacemaker, or at least seen a picture of one, have you been able to take a close look at how the leads are connected to a pacemaker? I had mine replaced last month and I got the old one so that I could take a good look at the thing and I have learned a little bit about them I would like to share with you.

I have, (or will as soon as I can) a picture o...

SwineFlu/Normal Flu

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone feels the need to get either of these shots? I have Bradycardia & SSS. I don't know if I fall into the catagory of a person with a health condition. Also, I would like to get some feed back on the shots in general. I did a little bit of research & it seems that what they put in the shots is more dangerous for you then if you were to get the flu. I live in Wi & there has already been 8 deaths though. I am also a Daycare teacher so, I am around alo...

Heart Block Questions

If anyone has experience with 3rd degree heart block I would appreciate some feedback.

I have been diagnosed with it and have a pm but only have blocks 2-3 times per year. Why is that? What makes it happen? From reading other posts hear it sounds like more people than not have the block all the time and pace all the time. My pm has yet to kick in and my last episode was the night before surgery.

So I am lucky...but confused. I understand that the electrical system in my he...

THANK YOU....from Pookie

Hi again everyone.

Thanks for all of the support when I needed it the most. I truly appreciate your kindness and encouragement.

Yes, I live in Canada and our health care system sucks...at least where I live and I did ask the booking clerk when I returned the Holter this past Tuesday if there was any way I could get in before December 3 to see the EP, but she said his calendar was full. I asked her to put my name on a cancellation list as I only live 10 minutes from the ho...

echos

How often do you get echos? I don't mean if you're new or if you're having problems that need diagnosed, but when you're cruising along doing fine and just having regular checkups. My last cardio did one every other year but my current doc doesn't do anything other than bloodwork unless there's a problem. I realized I haven't had one in ten years. I meant to ask for one at my last appt but forgot.

pacemaker/defibralator and auto anti-theft devices

My mother in-law needs both of these in her chest but she is concerned about its resisitance with anti-theft devices on cars or any other places these devices are present.
Can someone please provide any info or input on what she needs to know in this regard? She is very concerned about this. She is 72 years old and would regret greatly giving up driving
Thank you

To HAIR Or Not

Your not gonna believe this, I don't. My hair has been falling out rapidly. So I go to the Doctor and he says, "its due to the lack of oxygen caused by my heart condition". Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

Medical Alert Tattoo

I'm not a fan of medical bracelets, or just bracelets in general so I've been thinking about a heart tattoo on my inner wrist with the pacemaker symbol inside. Has anyone ever did this? I was told by my doctor it would be a good idea to wear a bracelet since I'm so young but since I've had the device I never end up wearing it like I should. So I figured a tattoo would be the next best thing, but i'm a little nervous since it will be there forever....let me know what you think:-)

Hi

Hello friends
I have not been on here for several months due to not feeling too well again.
About 4 months i went to my pm clinic with a problem. Over my pm site there seemed to be a swelling which was very tender to touch. The technician just said that the doctor would laugh at her if she called him to see me and nothing was wrong and sent me away with a 12 month review appt. This pm was inserted Dec 2004 my second one. First one inserted in1987.
Since then i have had trou...

They are sending him a=back until he can have a biopsy in 1 week. ou would think there would be urgent basis. But there is a waiting list. No one can find any informationon his pacemaker. I'm trying to contact the institution he had it done at. I know they won't give me any info. I've called lawyer'[s. I didn't tell my husband that they think its cancer & there are several masses.
