pacemaker mediated tachycardia

Hi,
I had my third pacemaker put in last year. Twenty-four years with 2 Medtronics, but my newest one is St. Jude's, if that matters. I have periodic hard and rapid heartbeats with my new pacemaker which my doctor thought was pacemaker mediated tachycardia. They tweaked the settings and it appeared to get better, but has returned recently with a vengence. I'm preparing for another office visit to have it interrogated and hopefully tweaked again, but was wondering if others had had similar i...

Tired of feeling tired....

Hi Everyone,
I am new on this board so I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I am hoping someone might have some suggestions. I got my dual PM/Defib a year and a half ago and feel worse after the surgery. Prior, my ej frac was 20% but I was asymptomatic. They think it is postpartum cardiomyopathy and fortunately, I had no symptoms whatsoever. They caught the enlarged heart through an xray when I had pneumonia. I had the device implanted and felt horrible for 3 week...

ER Visit

Hi friends hope all is going well for all of you. I had a ER visit that went horrible after having a lot of chest pressure for a week a couple people finally talked me into going and getting it checked out.
I found out nothing in the hospital and they did nothing for me besides the nurses telling me get in as soon as I could in the morning.
I got my pm settings all changed around and went to my regular Dr where they were able to tell me more. I have a built up inflamation around...

newbie

The incision still a little swollen and sore but no discomfort in the chest. Just a FYI that may or may not have anything to do with my continued palpitations. Since surgery, I have had alot of time on my hands so I spend that on the computer. Under the desk there is a large stereo speaker attched to my mini speakers that I totally forgot was there. I remember reading that speakers may interfere with PM. I've unplugged it and have not had a palp since. Coincidence?

ck up soon

CHF put me into ER and I was implanted with a Medtronic Consulta CRT-D. There were complications which are too gross to go into. This was in Mar 09.It was set for 60 and 130. At the first interrogation it was tweaked to 70/130. I currently pace at 30%A and 100% V, so I am dependent on the PM. I am wondering now if it needs some tweaking, especially after reading some of the Q & A on the forum. Symptoms are shortness of breath which if I don't stop everything leads into Angina in my throat and do...

Newbie

I just had my first PM implanted on Friday. Everyone involved had different things to tell me and I'm confused as hell. I'm still having the same flutters as before and I'm not sure if the leads came off or the PM's not working properly or it's totally normal.
Kinda of worriesome but don't want to cry wolf.

Found Reason no action after cath

A few days ago I posted I was fed up with having cath's done, basicly the reason was they informed me there were still blockages and couple new ones, yet they did nothing, no stenting.. Apparently Medicare and my supplemental Insurance will not cover any stenting or by pass procedure unless there is dam near total blockage, this to me is crazy but the way it was explained to me yesterday when i finally went off in doctors office, has any one else ran into this issue?

Any Friends of Bill W. Here?

I have been a Friend of Bill W. for 33 years and this has helped me to always keep a positive attitude when faced with PM success. Also at other times when everything seemed to go wrong with leads failing, infections setting in and seemingly endless operations.

The Serenity Prayer and the knowledge that I can't, God can, I think I will let him saw me through the rough times.

I just got thru typing a comment to post & 'poof' ~ it disappeared! Anyway, my question is, how would I know if my leads/wires became unattached to my heart? My condition was trach/pooling of blood/"flutter" (?). This may be a silly question to you more "seasoned" commentors with a lot more knowledge on the PM. Would I feel something? I am 2 weeks tomorrow out of my first ablation/PM implant. I feel like my recovery must be normal. I do not feel anything at all except for a 'tug'/pull fro...

Edema w/bruising

Hi Everyone---
I'm not subject to edema, but the other nite I looked at my feet & legs & they were very swollen, and my right foot was completely bruised, (dark blue) There was no cause for the bruising and no pain connected with it. Just wondering if anyone has any info on that?? I do have a Medtronic Pacemaker.
Thanks in advance for any info---

New Replacement Message

The technical manual for the Medtronics Adapta series has a section called "New nomenclature for product battery life terms".
The terms are to become part of a new industry pacemaker standard so should apply to all makes.

The old ERI (elective replacement indicator) is now
RRT/ERI (Recommended Replacement Time.

This should make it easier to get a replacement sooner. It doesn't sound as optional as the word Elective.

Two other changes:

Headache??

I had a Medtronics Advanta ADDR01 implanted on 10/1/2009 and have had a constaint low grade headache ever since.

My first PM was implanted in 1996 and removed in 2006 due to endocarditus. During this ten years I had no head aches.

From 2006 until 2009 I had no PM at all.

Now I have a constant headache. Is this normal? and will it be temporary?

I would like to hear others experience with headaches.

Heart Monitor

I have had a monitor set up via land phone line since I had my pacemaker Sept 2008. At a designated time every 24 hours it sends report to Biotronics, pacemaker mfg. For some reason they quit receiving reoports on 9/5/09 (coincidentally that is exactly one year from my implant date). They sent me a new monitor, we have checked double checked to see that it is connected properly - pretty eze phone line from monitor to wall phone jack, and phone line to house phone (altho this is not required f...

Under the muscle vs on top?

Hi
Eleven weeks ago I had a lead revision to my Medtronic Adapta pacer. I am paced 99% of the time from the ventricle and that lead went bad. I am 41 and have had a pacer for 6 years with two lead revisions and one pacer upgrade.

My Doc removed the bad lead and then placed the devise under my pec. Well at about week 5 I thought it moved, followed up decided to play it conservative and waited 5 more weeks. I have considerable swelling, weakness and pain. Apparently it has d...

H1N1 Vaccine

If you're still on the fence about flu shots, you may want to check this out. I found the 60 minutes documentary at the end particularly interesting.

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
