Hi-I'm still new to all this!
My pacemaker is 2 & 1/2 weeks old and we will be going to Europe in another 2 weeks. I have not fared well with dehydration in the past then I get into real trouble,) so I will be alert to that issue but if anyone has any other travel tips, I would really appreciate it!
On a side note, I went into a department store today and walked past the In Store Security system and my heart/pacemaker/defib -whatever it was - started freaking out. It was really s...

Hi,
I feel like a should know the answer to my question but I don't and I can't find it the brochure I was given.
I had a meditronic consulta CRT-D defibrillator implanted in March 2009 and there were unpleasant complications. However, it has brought my EF from 20 to between 50-55. I feel well most of the time but my stamina has been slow to come back My question is this: I was watching TV around 5:15 p.m. when my PM started emitting a solid tone (no beeps). It lasted for about 10...

I had my first PM implanted in Feb. 1996. The battery lasted 11 years. It was replaced with a Medtronics Adapta DR in Jan 2007. At the time I was told all about the improvements made to the new pacemakers including a longer battery life. I was surprised last week when I was told that the battery life on my new PM was about 4 years!! I now have to get it replaced in about 2 years. I was told by my tech. that she had a patiant in the week before that had his implanted 3 months AFTER mine and...

I'm coming up too my third year with my pacemaker.Cannot believe how fast the last years have gone past.Although there have been a few 'shocks' everything is looking good.I just received new batteries for my pm.I was surprised how fast the batteries needed replacing.I suppose everthing case is different.I go back for the next check in three months for the battery strength.Keep well everyone

Hi there!
Just curious: What would you prefer: longer battery life or better technology?
I have had this discussion with my EP, and I told him that since I'm pretty young (28) and need features like the rate response a lot, I would trade a newer technology to a longer battery life. There still is so much technologic progress, and if I'd have a battery that lasts for example 20 years, I will not benefit from this progress for quite a long time. He said this was an interesti...

I started to write the message below as a comment to a question Gracie posted about PVCs, but I got side tracked and just found my unfinished comment. Since Gracie has gotten her question answered and I think of what has happened to me (it is good for a change) with my PVCs, I decided to post it here with the thought it may give hope to some that must be as unimpressed with the results from their pacemaker as I had become. This is long and for that I apologize, but I simply do not know how to...

Hi everyone! I am new today and am the mother of a darling, active 8 year old boy. He was diagnosed with complete HB at 2 and soon implanted with a biventricular, Medtronic pacemaker which was placed in his stomach. He has not skipped a beat - pardon the pun!! He is very aware of his condition but is still very active. He plays a lot of sports including tennis & golf and have really encouraged sports with as little contact as possible. He did not like baseball but has asked to play soccer...

Well it's 9/weeks and I'm talking about last Sunday 20th. It's a sunny day, around noon...the seasons in full swing for many and winding down for some(football). No way will football wind the season down for me. Occasional radio and score is all I need. Football 2nd...Golf 1st...sorry Rothliesberger and Steelers, etc..
It's 77 degrees here in Southwestern PA. Nice. Nice breeze. I will break in with my pitching wedge and will attach a small donut type weight to add club weight. My warm...

Well, Im backing my bags and heading back home tomorrow. The weekend social in Tampa was lots of fun. Everyone had a good time and we supported a worthy cause, Heartbeat International, at the same time. Rachel & I are happy to have met so many lovely people (and wired just like me). We will hold the lifelong friendships that we made within our hearts forever.
A special thank you to St. Jude Medical for donating the tickets to the Heartbeat gala event, as well as our speakers at...

We have had a fantastic time in Tampa! I want to thank Blake and Rachel for the wonderful experience. Blake worked so hard to put this event together for us and it was awesome! We were well taken care of, the speakers were informative, so easy to talk to. My Goodness I am exhausted and ready to return to my home, but I am so happy and thankful that I was able to come. It has meant so much to me to actually meet the Pacer Chicks, the Pacer Studs and of course Blake and Rachel. The hotel was gre...

Where to begin. What a fabulous time was had by all. Sooooooooooooo glad the opportunity was made available and sooooooo glad I was able to go. Dancing with the Stars Tampa 2009 was so much fun. Dancers (Pro paired with Amateur), Judges, Host/Hostess ... the Marriott did a wonderful job managing approx ~850 "guests" to this event and did a great job. It was so much FUN!
Blake: Thank you and your wife Rachael (spelling?) for all the effort that went in to organizing this Social Ev...

Please please please donate a dollar (or more) and spread the word to friends, relatives and ask them to spread the word to friend relatives and so on. Heartbeat International needs a serious grassroots effort to raise funds to save lives. Pretty simple really. Thanx all!!

Well, here I am finally home safe and well actually we never really know how "sound" I am ha ha... Anyway flights were great, the time in Florida was wonderful and the friendships I will hold dear to my heart for the rest of my life. I will be so happy to share the information and stories after I have a little nap. Very travel weary.
Tammie and Gary thank you for your wonderful thoughts and comments. I always look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Again, I want to say I am learning so much from you all and I am so grateful for finding this group. I wrote last night when I was up about my 2 week old Medtronic Adapta (rate responsing). I appreciate the coupld of feedbacks I already received. A sleep mode was set when I went in for my 1st check up. That was when my trouble with being wide awake at bedtime began. I am thinking I might need to have it turned off.........???

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
